Suns Begin Trade Talks Involving Amare

The Phoenix Suns have begun exchanging trade proposals with teams for forward Amare Stoudemire, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday.

Steve Kerr apparently is determined to move Stoudemire ahead of the deadline.

“Everyone is on the table but (Steve) Nash,” one executive said.

Stoudemire is expected to opt out of his contract for the historic free-agent summer of 2010 and his relationship with the front office has reached a point where neither side wants him to be in Phoenix beyond 2010.

If they truly are desperate to move him, that could certainly work in another team's favour. We probably won't see anything as lopsided as last year's Gasol-to-LA trade but the strained relationship might force Kerr's hand.

WTF? :o This cannot be true! Amare is star and franchise player of Suns since the day he was drafted. As an Amare and Suns fan, i can't stand watching him in another team's uniform. Trade anybody else, even Nash, but not Amare, this guy is the core of the team. :(

I WILL KILL STEVE KERR WITH MY OWN HANDS

Who else is with me?

Kerr is really single-handedly ruining the Suns. I don't understand the need to trade Amare. He plays pretty well when Shaq is seated, but not along with Shaq. IMO, they should be aiming to trade deteriorating veterans like Shaq and Nash, as opposed to trading a key piece of their future, which is Amare. Even if they're thinking about winning now, staying with Nash just won't do.

It's hanging out with the "Aaron Gray for Al Jefferson trade" hope.

Not to mention the Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich for Amare swap, which is just below the rip in space-time bringing the MJ and Pip from the 90s to the present.

I don't think this is a complete BS, since Amare hasn't been happy all season long. His stats are not living up to expectations nor the team is. It's obvious arrival of Shaq somewhat caused him to struggle with new roles of his. This makes me think Amare wants this to happen in some ways. I'm sure the Suns would love to keep him though as they know he's one rare franchise player material if played right. Besides I also think it'd be stupid to gamble away Amare to take a shot with aging stars like Shaq, Nash and Hill.

But now...

Amare for who?

Without thinking too much if the Suns trade Amare, they must have in return a quality PF, I think in Al Jefferson

In lieu of "equal value" (ie another All-Star) they'd probably want a good, young power forward in return along with a pick or another up and coming player to adequately compensate for an established talent. They'd probably prefer to trade him to the East if possible; if the Knicks are willing to give up Lee then perhaps New York is an option.

Ever since Shaq left LA, I've had a wet dream of Amare joining them. The last year of his rookie contract, he chose to extend his contract. I was heartbroken.

I love Pau and all, but I'll always love the power players like Amare & Howard more.

Aldridge and Lafrentz expiring contract for Amare?

Possibly, but Phoenix would probably want to avoid sending Amare to a Western team if possible.

Yikes, Amare and Oden up front, would be interesting to watch the Blazers again. (Not that it isnt now, but that's some front court there.)

What's with the spelling of Amare?
I remember they used to spell him Amaré with the accent, then just Amare, but what's with the Amar'e? Something missing in there?

I was wondering the same thing....maybe it's part of his image change to become the man once & for all....

Apparently the current spelling is correct and always has been, though it's odd that it's gone uncorrected for so long. You'd think that personal documents or insistence by Stoudemire himself would result in a correction before now.

Worth a try, throw in the Bulls' upcoming first rounder, and I think the Suns could potentially bite. But probably not.

if a trade happens, it must involve the clippers, just like this one
