Mark Cuban fined again

The league fined the Dallas Mavericks owner $25,000 Friday for “improper interactions with Denver Nuggets players” at halftime and his conduct immediately following the Mavericks’ 99-97 loss on Tuesday.

The penalty was the 14th the league has announced against Cuban, who has been penalized about $1.5 million over the years and suspended from three games.

Cuban went onto the court at halftime to complain to J.R. Smith about an elbow he saw the Nuggets player throw at the Mavs’ Antoine Wright. Denver coach George Karl criticized Cuban following the game, then again the next day at practice, for coming onto the court and yelling at one of his players.

Another one of those situations where I can admire his passion in standing up for his players but not his disrespect for the rules and code of conduct. Maybe the change that prevented any club personnel except for players and coaches going into huddles on the floor was made with him in mind, but he's the only owner who would frequently take it upon himself to go down onto the court.

I would hate to have an owner like Cuban because he shows so much emotion that for fans it must feel like its more about him and the team since he owns it, and not the city which the fans are from.

I actually think he's great for the league....he turned the Mavs from the jokes of the NBA to within one ridiculous & controversial quarter from Dwayne Wade from a title....naturally you wouldn't want a league of owners like him, but one or two like him out of thirty keeps the balance....I don't see why an owner of a franchise should just sit in the shadows, especially considering it's such a huge investment....of course he's a minor distraction at times, but at least the city of Dallas know that they have an owner that cares, which can't be said about all owners (e.g. Heisley in Memphis)....

True, but there is a protocol and I'd say most fans come to watch their favourite team play the sport of basketball rather than the wacky antics of a multi-billionaire. Like I said, I admire his passion and his dedication to his players but when he runs out onto the court to confront a player or stare down the league commissioner then I don't think that's a positive image for him as an owner or his club. I guess you could say when he's at the games he's a fan like anyone else but he can't really put aside the fact that he is the owner and besides, if a fan ran out onto the court like that they'd be ejected from the arena immediately. He's a breath of fresh air and all that, but he just takes things too far sometimes.

Mark Cuban... He always wanna make a headline news. It's like promoting himself and his team by getting fined and stuff. In a positive way? I dunno. Cuz what he did to get fined seemed quite unneccessary to me. Yeah but, he's somewhat great for the league I guess. We need an orange in a case full of apples to keep things interesting sometimes.

He has brought some good ideas to the table and the Mavericks have enjoyed a fair amount of success after being one of the league's worst teams through the 90s but Cuban has to share that credit with Don and Donnie Nelson, Avery Johnson and of course the emergence of Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash during his first few years owning the team. I think the league needs him, but sometimes they need him to keep a low profile, his emotions in check and most certainly off the hardwood.
