I really like the trade from the Sun's perspective. I am bias though since J-Rich is from my hometown.

I think it's a dud trade for the suns but who knows, might prove to be genius if Richardson can fire under their style of play.

You guys are aware that last year he shot and made more three pointers than anyone else in the league right? And shot 41% while doing it? And has shot 38%, 37%, 41% and 46% over the last four seasons?

Bell isn't the same of previous years... and he wasn't confortable with Porter's system

Diaw is pretty incosistent... He had a great year when Amare missed it with the microfracture... He averages 9$M per year, too much money for somebody who averages 8 points and 4 rebounds per game...

Richardson is a proven scorer... a nice sidekick for Amare to toss put for a 3 pointer.

Now we have to wait if Terry Porter can speed up a bit the Suns... Because at this pace the Suns doesn't look good in my opinion...

Raja Bell's last 4 seasons from behind the arc were 40, 44, 41 and 40. His career 3 point percentage is 40 whilst Richardson's is 36. Even though Bell's scoring ability isn't as great as Richo's, his defensive ability is better in my opinion. It is proven that defense wins championships. So getting rid of him and Diaw for Richardson I think was a dud move, but only time will tell.

I like this trade for the Suns.
Their defense was horrible anyways, so they might as well try to win by outscoring their opponents.
If this means less Amare jump shots, I'll be happy.

I like this trade for the suns. Richardson should open up the floor for Amare and Shaq or make the other team pay with 3pointers (Bell was also a good shooter but I guess Richardson will get more attention of the other defenders)
It´s also a clear sign that it´s now or never for the Suns (that should stop the rebuild and trade Amare rumors)

I just don't see this trade helping either team much....maybe it'll get Bobcats or Suns an extra win or two....I dunno....I think Suns got better of deal just for the fact they got Dudley although knowing the Suns, they won't play him....

I'm not sure if either team will benefit much from this trade, but this is a great trade for the players. richardson finally gets a chance to prove himself in winning team meanwhile diaw gets to play more and be utilized more.

Pistons of 1989 and 1990, Bulls Dynasty in the 90s, The Spurs in the 2000s, Detroit in 04 and even the Celtics last year... all of these teams had great defense, as well as holding either a Defensive Player of the year (former or current) or atleast one quality stopper who can help stem the impact of players like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James (Bruce Bowen, Tayshaun Prince). I think that's pretty good proof that D wins rings. I'm sure there's other teams who support the theory too, but they're the ones at the top of my head.

As for Raja Bell creating his own shot, I'll be on the look out and when I spot a time he does, I'll tell you. But when you're on the team with a point guard who won MVP twice, creating your own shots isn't as important.

That's right. Two.

Great teams win championships, not defense. The entire old wives tale is because a great offense and great defense will beat a great offense, bad defense usually. But it ignores that no offense, great defense will never beat no defense, great offense. And that great offenses are harder to build.
