so if lebron goes to cleveland, er, stays in cleveland.... the fans wont have it any other way....
who the pistons gonna pick?, apparently they've worked darko out and love him. darko at center, wallace shifts to pf, prince starting sf next year....
hamilton and billups in the backcourt....
they're the best team in the east next year....
denver picks anthony, unless they are brain dead...
who does toronto pick?
any body? chris bosh or t.j ford maybe?

Barring some scandal or sudden change of heart, we're in agreement that Cleveland will select LeBron James with the first pick. Gordon Gund confirmed what most people felt anyway - the team with the top pick will take LeBron, no questions asked.
With Detroit getting the second pick, it's going to be interesting as to whether they take Milicic or Anthony. They could form a formidable frontcourt with Milicic and the Beast, while having a solid reserve in Uncle Cliff. With the continued emergence of Tayshaun Prince, they may not be as week at small forward as it appears. On the other hand, they could choose to upgrade their roster at small forward and take Carmelo Anthony.
Denver's choice depends on Detroit's. Either way, it will be a good choice for the Nuggets, since they could use some more frontcourt talent, especially with Howard's possible departure. LeBron would have been nice, but as it stands, it's Milicic or Anthony.

Prince is good...Curry is old and Wlliamson is a wannabe 4.
The Pistons are in the playoff hunt now and they have a weak offense. Anthony is going to be another Antoine Walker/Glenn Robinson type scorer and will be able to contribute immediately. It just makes so much more sense to me to take Anthony...

I don't think Darko has the body to play centre in the NBA, even if its the Eastern conference. If they draft Carmelo, they will get scoring which they need, plus they can go back to bringing Prince off the bench where he has proven to be a spark

You probably didnt see this because it was on American TV but the Pistons have all but said that they're taking Darko.

i'd take Melo over Bron, but that is personal preference, and i'd take Melo over Darko.
now its good to see my other team(besides Lakers) are getting number 1 and my 3rd fave team getting 2nd pick, it kinda kicks ass
if pistons take Milicic, he will not play centre

not in the NBA.
Wallace,Darko(if he even starts),Prince,Rip,Billups
i would prefer
Wallace,FA or Robinson,Melo,Rip,Billups
but we'll see

Wallace,FA or Robinson,Melo,Rip,Billups
I agree that is the best non-lebron scenario they can come up with for now, becuase this Piston team needs one or two good players to be serious contendors, not a work in progress like Darko.

well its possible for the Pistons to sign a decent FA agent
coz Cliff Robinson and Michael Curry are both Free Agents this Summer right????
and Cliff is getting quite a bit

Ok no James or Melo for the Bulls so now what? I'm leaning towards trading the pick now but I'd hate to see JWill and Chandler go. Bring on KG!

1. Cavaliers LeBron James
Cleveland's ready to rock! Cavs get hometown hero.
2. Pistons (via Grizzlies) Darko Milicic
Who knew Otis Thorpe would be so valuable.
3. Nuggets Carmelo Anthony
'Melo may be more ready than LeBron to make impact.
4. Raptors T.J. Ford
Can Ford get the Raptors running again?
5. Heat Chris Bosh
Riley gets another youngster with big upside.
6. Clippers Chris Kaman
Olowokandi's as good as gone; meet his replacement.
7. Bulls Mickael Pietrus
6-6 SG from France has been called the Euro Jordan
8. Bucks (via Hawks) Kirk Hinrich
If Payton bolts, the Bucks will have to replace him.
9. Knicks Maciej Lampe
Burned by past Euros, but this kid could be a Nowitzki
10. Wizards Luke Ridnour
Wizards still need a floor general to run the show.
11. Warriors Dwyane Wade
Smart, tough, SG a throwback. May replace Arenas.
12. Sonics Mike Sweetney
Junior Hoya a big upgrade at power forward.
13. Grizzlies (via Rockets) Pavel Podkolzin
7-4, 300-pounder from Siberia is athletic, but big risk.

pistons need scoring, but they also need rebounding... they have a guy who leads the league in rebounds, but are only 20th overall (or lower)
tough choice... i like darko, but i also like carmelo

I disagree PoorCH's raptor's pick. They need size. It showed a lot this year. One injury and they were eaten up. A center would be best so Davis can finally get back to playing power forward, i mean he played small forward sometimes back in indy. Starting center isn't his place.

Yeah, I wasn't aware of that.

Well, I'll go with my "formidable frontcourt" story then.

Davis came off the bench backing up Dale Davis and Smits. When Davis was playing in Indiana, they had Rose backing up the SF.

Also, to add to what Dan had to say, I believe that Davis is actually best suited to playing center. When he plays center he has a quickness advantage over most bigger, slower guys. When he plays Pf his opponents are normally as quick if nto quicker than him which forces him to shoot more jumpers and be less efective.

He still did play SF sometimes when they played a big lineup, and Rose was starting, at least for part of his time there.

the raptors have 2 big holes... one in the frontcourt which kamen or bosh could fill... and anther at the point (sorry raefer, i love the dribbles but...you know) so ford could fill that spot... its gonna be interesting... of course (curse?) denver could surprise us and let carmello slip down to #4...yeah riiiiigghhhttt!

Yeah, when Davis was gone.

Yeah, when Davis was gone.
Which in hindsight, you can look back and say, that move might have cost them the ring.

Cliffy is gone. One or two more years and he is gone. The future Pistons center and power forward rotation probably consists of Okur, Milicic and Wallace. Hopefully Zelly will be in that rotation as well.
"That's a freak of nature right there. And he's just 17. Seventeen, Chad."
-- GM Joe Dumars, to ESPN.com's Chad Ford, after both watched draft prospect Darko Milicic in a May 22 workout session mere hours before the NBA draft lottery.

1 cle Lebron ()
2 det Darko (they want to start prince next year,so picking melo would be idiotic)
3 den Melo (white doesnt seem to be what they expected,so they need another sf)
4 tor Bosh (as davis' career is close to an end, they need a big man)
5 mia Ford (they need a pg)
6 lac Kaman (kandi is gone,so they need a center)
7 chi Lampe (lampe will be one of the best sf's in the league in 4-5 years)
8 mil sweetney (as mason is getting older and older, they need a "big" man)
9 ny S(c)hortsanitis (layden likes him)
10 was Pietrus (lol...jordan's replacement)
11 g.s. barbosa (as an arenas replacement)
12 sea Hinrich (need a pg)
13 mem hayes (would make a good trio with miller and gasol)
Fri May 30, 2003 8:30 am
IMO Dwayne Wade will be in the lottery, otherwise good selections.
