Obama’s One Day NBA Contract Irks 14th Man on Bull

CHICAGO, IL (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) President-Elect Barack Obama is expected to suit up on December 6th to play for his hometown Chicago Bulls when they host the Washington Wizards. Though Bulls fans are thrilled, and most Americans are at the very least intrigued by seeing their next president hit the hardwoods, one person is angered.

Bulls’ backup guard Thabo Sefolosha will be dropped from the roster for one day to make room for Obama.

“Anyone can see this is a stunt,” the second year guard from Switzerland said snidely. “I get it, OK? He’s an Illinois senator, Chicago is his adopted hometown, he plays basketball. the whole thing is real cute, -- But taking a solid, albeit inconsistent player off an NBA roster to accommodate the future leader of the free world just flat out sucks.”

“I understand Thabo’s feelings,” said Bulls’ Head Coach Vinnie Del Negro. “But he needs to understand that this is a once in a lifetime event and we have to seize it. We haven’t seen a moment like this since Richard Nixon pitched to Angel Mangual.”

The Secret Service is discussing security detail with the Bulls organization and will increase safety measures between now and when the game is played.

“The President-Elect is very excited about playing for the Bulls,” said Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Howard Dean . “I am too – so much so that I could just scream.”

Del Negro did indicate that Obama would only play for about a minute at the very beginning of the game starting for Kirk Hinrich, and would then be removed for the Bulls’ starting guard and co-captain.

“He’s got moves,” added Del Negro. “He’s surprisingly quick off the dribble for a man of forty-seven, and has an excellent twelve foot jumper. I could actually see him starting for the Clippers.”

The Wizards are excited about the game but insist they will not lay down for Obama.

“I’m taking it to him,” said Wizards’ guard DeShawn Stevenson. “I love the dude and all, but if he tries that crossover shit with me, I’ll drop him – With all due respect of course.”

Seems to be a fake but still funny ;)

An obvious fake but good for a chuckle all the same.

He should play one game for the Spurs - definitely and upgrade over Finley right now.

Don't hate on the Fin. You know he can still dunk on anyone he feels like, and he can still stroke that three.

A lot of giveaways making it fake, but pretty amusing all the same.

Problem with Fin is that he is a pure streaky shooter and he does not exercise his ability to go to the rim often. And he's gone really cold this season so far except against the Knicks. As much as I like him as a player and definitel off the court - he should have retired this season.

NBA has better days ahead as the president loves basketball. :)

I hope he interferes with the league and get rid of all the bureaucracy that's going on right now.

BTW, I watched his game and he's amazing for his age. He sure does know hwo to penetrate for easy lay ups but lacks killer cross over moves a bit. (Y) Overall, B+ performance. Would have given A if defenders actually tried. But then secret service...

Couldnt hurt at the moment with all the injuries. I say make it happen anyway. Thabo hasnt done enough to earn his spot so far this season.

honestly i don't think Thabo was ever given a chance. stuck behind Gordon Hughes Hinrich etc these last couple of years, I wish the Sixers kept him. as far as the article, it's a little outdated as Hinrich is not a starter due to his injury and there's other players besides Thabo they would let go first: Simmons, Ruffin, Nichols. I don't think you can waive a player for a day and resign him right? and 10 day contracts aren't signed til the end of the season

I disagree. Thabo's had brief runs in the starting lineup at times in his short career, played around 21 minutes per game last season and he's had his moments but he doesn't seem ready for a bigger role and remains extremely unpolished and tentative offensively.
