2008 PBA Finals: (1) Air21 vs (3) Bgy. Ginebra

I will go for Ginebra because I do not want to have a PBA season with teams like Sta.Lucia and Air21, two of the most boring teams in the history of the PBA, to have the two trophies this year.

To be frank I follow the PBA only when it's the Philippine Cup. But I'm glad the imports aren't scoring that much in the games I read on paper. Honestly I don't follow it much nowadays.

And since San Miguel changed its name to Magnolia I felt robbed.

I go with Ginebra. Always do.
Eric Menk's back in the team playing, in a good and bad way. Good, he's still dependable for scoring. Bad, he scores by shooting outside shots instead of banging inside.
Even with Ginebra's 34-point blowout loss in game 2, the way the import Chris Alexander is playing like Tim Duncan (unbelievable as it may seem), Ginera's going to win it in the long run, as long as Caguioa and Helterbrand don't hog the ball and play some semblance of defense.

I guess you haven't been paying attention to Arwind Santos.
Just wait when KG Cañaleta is back from his injury. Him and Santos should be enjoyable to watch.

I followed Air21 before since they were almost the Cinderella-story team in 2006 with Shawn Daniels as import. They finished third in that particular conference. But it sucks to see Ritualo (then in Air21) shooting like a trigger-happy guy. Forces a lot to be the next Caidic.

Not much of a PBA fan but Arwind and KG are two of my favorites so I'm rooting for them.

i go with ginebra.. simply because i'm an ginebra fan.

last night's game 2 was just awful.. ginebra turned the ball over like hell.. helterbrand failing to get a hold of himself.. it really sucked.. now i'm expecting (more of hoping) for a comeback next game.

Caguioa being in foul trouble was the end of them.

^ yeah. and as what you've said, eric menk. he really need to step his game up. i can still remember the last time they've won the all-filipino cup. he with hatfield were the dominant wingmen back then IMO. if he'll be able to get back to his MVP groove, i don't see a way on how air21 would still be able to keep up with them.

off topic: once i took a glimpse at channel 4 during heir sports news. it was said by the host that hatfield has sent a filler to the team management informing them that he'll be able to play next season. but this isn't yet confirmed. i fucking hope this is true.

Wow, Canaleta was brilliant last night. Hitting threes when it's needed the most. Amazing performance.

Tough loss for Ginebra last night. Good thing that they have a pretty serious excuse in the absence of Helterbrand. I still go for Ginebra though I'm not really a ginebra fan. Air21 got lucky this time, if not for the KG 3s they could have not win last night's game.

not just his offense but his playmaking skills which is more important.

off topic: once i took a glimpse at channel 4 during heir sports news. it was said by the host that hatfield has sent a filler to the team management informing them that he'll be able to play next season. but this isn't yet confirmed. i fucking hope this is true.

he may be having a financial problem in the states that's why.

i just had to quote that. he really got his rhythm and made air21 pay for letting espinas and kramer guard him. they just haven't got the experience to prevent him from salvaging ginebra for the championship.

I want a Purefoods vs Ginebra matchup

What Menk showed in game 7 hardly compares to what he's actually capable of doing. Erik Menk going against Asi Taulava during their PBL days shows how much of a monster he used to be, even as compared to his MVP season in the PBA.
Menk went down the Chris Webber path, really good at the low post then started to settle for damn jumpshots as his career went by, even though he's still capable of doing it down low.

Tubid played his supposed role silently and efficiently during the whole series in filling the scoring slack of an injured Caguioa. I do wish he would grow back that beard he had during his Shell days, he looked kewl.
