Earl Boykins signs to Italy

Wed Aug 06, 2008 5:31 pm

Boykins' Cleveland-based agent, Mark Termini, announced Tuesday that Boykins has signed a one-year contract with Italy's Virtus Bologna. The deal, according to Termini, is worth more than $3.5 million for the 2008-09 season, which would make the 5-foot-5 guard Italy's highest-paid player.

That's less than the MLE, I would have thought someone would have shown some interest in him.

The shortest player in the Iralian League is now the highest-paid? Tee-hee...

yeah 'Drew he's pretty good imo, i figured someone would give him a 1 year MLE.

now he's Europe's Little Big Man (Y)

Mind you, it didn't seem like a lot of teams were knocking down his door to get him when he was cut last season before he eventually signed on with the Bobcats.

Jonthefon... He's playing in Italy, not Iran...

Iran = Iralian?

Or the T happens to be next to the R on the keyboard?

If you're going to try to be funny, make sure you don't come out looking like a dipshit. Dumbass. :roll:

He's probably going to average a good 50 ppg.

Earl Chamberlain ?

Noooo!!! Europe is taking all of our bench players!

he was fun to watch when he was playing well. boykins sure proved a lot of doubters wrong. 5'5" playing in nba at high lvl.

well... wish him the best of luck in europe.

He wasn't playing at THAT high of a level. Sure he was decent, but he wasn't great by any stretch. He was never going to be more than backup in the NBA, and he shot the ball way too much. If he was playing at such a high level, some team would have signed him before last season (he ended up signing w/ the Bobcats in January last season).....

He managed to stick around for ten seasons though and had a decent run in Denver for a few years. I wouldn't have expected him to be a highly coveted free agent but certainly a player someone would show a bit of interest in.
