BLOCKBUSTER TRADE! Balkman to Denver!

I honestly don't see why either team made this trade.

To make space?

Denver needed another big guy?

Getting 2 for 1?

Balkman sure is one funny looking fellow though.

Kinda shitty of them to trade a native.

I would've said cap space but Balkman doesn't have a big contract and they could have chosen not to pick up the team option for next year anyway. Seems to be one of those "Let's trade spare parts, maybe something good will come out of it" deals.

I read somewhere that D'Antoni doesn't like Robinson at PG... so i guess that Taurean Green will be the backup of Chris Duhon in some way.

Now they have 4 PG: Marbury, Robinson, Duhon and Green... and we can count Fred Jones

I'd consider him an undersized shooting guard.

I heard NYK was going to waive the players they traded for.

Maybe Balkman just wanted out? Maybe he just stinks up the joint...

Screw lamrock for his misleading titles.

I think it's more sarcastic than misleading.

This is a blockbuster huh.

Wed Jul 30, 2008 8:21 am

And finally they were waived

Nice trade

The point of this trade was just so New York could trim the roster down to 15 players, without having to waive someone with a guaranteed contract. Because Green and Jones both had non-guaranteed contracts they could waive them without penalty. With Balkman they had 16 guaranteed contracts, and thus they were one above the limit. Hope this clears it up.

what will happen to the players that are waived?? pardon my ignorance..

Wed Jul 30, 2008 2:47 pm

They become free agents...

LOL @ BLockbuster trade. New York still hasn't done anything to impress me
