Posey to New Orleans

I can't understand this. I think Posey is long range shooter, just like Stojakovic and Peterson. Why add another one? And a four year deal?
I think it's too long. He's already 31, he's not going to improve his game.
I hope he, and Jeff Bower (Hornets GM) can prove me wrong

Firstly, what the fuck? Secondly, maybe it's a sign, that the Hornets will win the championship in 2010.

So much for the Celtics being his top choice. I do think that the Celtics' loss is the Hornets' gain though. I expect he'll have a bigger impact off the bench than Wells, James or Pargo.

Good signing for the Hornets, but a bit overpriced I think. I guess they had to or else Boston would have kept him. Hornets needed help on their bench and Posey will provide some great leadership.

Great sign. You can't really call Posey overpriced after his value jumped with his performance in the playoffs.

Any team would kill to have this guy come off their bench.

NO are gettin' strong, real strong.

Why wait 'till 2010 :)

Maybe, Pargo won't be re-sign, now that we have Posey. He only wanted to score, he wasn't a point guard, just a SG giving Paul a rest.

I guess more money makes sense but I really thought he'd stick around with Boston. I think this guy is probably one of the most hated in most NBA arenas, the dude's just a prick, but he really did have a huge impact during the playoffs, he's just a leech defensively and he always manages to grab the most important rebounds. I guess it's a good deal for NO.

I like this a lot for the Hornets. They get championship experience to compliment their young core. I don't think four years is too long. He'll still be able to contribute.

First and foremost, the Spurs will win the 'chip this year. Notice the trend:
2003 NBA Champs = San Antonio Spurs
2005 NBA Champs = San Antonio Spurs
2007 NBA Champs = San Antonio Spurs

Secondly, look at this trend:
Posey + 2006 Miami Heat = NBA Champs
Posey + 2008 Boston Celtics = NBA Champs
Posey + 2010 New Orleans Hornets = NBA Champs

It's all a frequency and Posey is the common denominator. :P

Except that Posey won both of those titles with teams in the Eastern Conference ;) so trend is slightly different since it alternated between Spurs and Eastern team

Detroit, Spurs, Heat, Spurs, Celtics..

I agree with zanshadow

The Hornets has a better defender in Posey and Peterson together

he is a nice upgrade over both those players, he can hit the long range shot and plays great defense. losing him is gonna kill the celtics next season. if they dont get a good pick up soon they will not be repeating

They got a good pick up. A superstar by the name of Patrick O'Bryant. (Y)

Interesting signing. Will be come off the bench or replace Mo Pete or Peja in the starting 5?

i agree with that, posey will defiantly see some serious minutes off the bench. even if he is 35 at the end of his contract

Overrated and overpriced. You hit a couple of big shots in the Finals and all of a sudden you're a big time player. Role players on championship teams always get overrated. Four years? Come on, New Orleans WTF. He probably will barely be able to play in four years. Players of his mold tend to age terribly.

Giving him four years was the only way to get him. Thats what he wanted and the Hornets made the move..

if the hornets didn't offer posey four years, i don't think he would leave boston. i guess the hornets is very desperate to win the championship next season..

The hornets really needed a SG because Mo Pete didn't played as what they expected when they signed him.. it's a good move.. remember, mo pete was one of the Raptors players that was torched by Kobe, and finishing with 81.. So I think they needed a wing defender that's why they were so desperate to get posey..

agreed. what mo pete does the best is what stojakovic does usually. so this move somewhat fills the shortcomings of those 2.

my only concern is his motivation to keep himself in a shape for next 4 years.

I think he'll be fine in the next 4 years.. even the likes of Mutombo, PJ Brown, Cassell, and other older players, they've even found a way to contribute to their teams.. If he's healthy, and has good conditioning, there's no question he's gonna continue to contribute..

when the hornets gave chris paul the extension, he said to an interview that he's the type of player that doesn't want many changes in their roster.. so I think with Paul as their best player and build up the team around him, also a possible reason for the 4 year contract of Posey is stability of their roster..

Posey is way better than Mo Pete.. I would even take Posey over Peja or Pargo, or even Bonzi..

4 year contract is almost like a 3 year contract. A 35 year old Posey will probably just be an expiring contract used as trade bait.

You can't say the Hornets are a young team though, just because they only made the playoffs once so far with this core.

But their core is actually young. (Paul, West and Chandler)
