Wizards won't sign MJ for next season

Thu May 08, 2003 6:02 am

It's official that MJ has left the Wizards franchise and he will not be returning next year as the President of Basketball Operations. Apparently, the two sides didn't have an agreement. So what do you guys think this means for the Wizards?

Here's the link:

The Wizards have been on a losing record, and haven't been successful so far at turning it into a winning record, even with Jordan as a owner/player. They have been at a 110-179 record with Jordan helping out. I, though, am actually looking forward to see what Jordan can do in Charlotte. It'll be interesting to see how the team works out.

The Wizards on the other hand, are in trouble. Stackhouse may be leaving the team, as well as Charles Oakley. Their remaining players are too inconsistent and they have no experienced veteran to lead the team. To be on the optimistic side, though, they still have Kwame Brown developing (hopefully), and they still have a top 13 draft pick that could get them a good shooter.

I saw a nice connection:
It was reported Trader Bob Whitsitt will resign in Portland.. Nike, Pippen, former NC players McInnis and Wallace.. hmm..

I kind of expected it. It wouldn't surprise me if MJ was out of the picture next season and returned elsewhere (most likely Charlotte) for 2004/2005. All the talk about a return the Bulls is probably nothing more than wishful thinking (yes, I know Paxson was named as Krause's successor, but even with Pax as GM, there is probably another title that MJ could have if he were to join the Bulls front office).
