Official NLSC NBA Trivia

Sun Jun 08, 2008 12:45 am

I thought it was about time we gave an official NLSC NBA Trivia game a go.

How the game is played
  1. Each round will consist of twenty one (21) questions divided into the following categories.

Free Throws: Worth one point each, nothing too taxing here.
Field Goals: Worth two points each, may require research.
Three Pointers: Worth three points each, harder questions, some historical stuff.
And-One: Worth three points each, another set of harder questions.
Bonus Question: A bonus question that you may use to make up a few points.
  2. New players may jump in at any time. It is not necessary to compete in every round.
  3. Each player may answer up to three (3) questions per round. Players may answer additional questions if any remaining questions are announced as being open to all players, regardless of whether they have answered three questions or not.
  4. Questions that are answered incorrectly are free to be answered again. Questions may be selected from any category, as long as they haven't already been answered.
  5. No editing posts to change answers!
  6. Points will not be shared. Whoever answers the question first will get the points.
  7. The list of questions will be updated as each series of answers is confirmed to indicate a question is no longer on the board.
  8. If you know an answer that has been posted to be incorrect, feel free to jump in and answer the question yourself. Please note that this will count as one of your three questions per post.
  9. When posting your answers, be sure to either list the question numbers or quote the questions you are answering.
  10. Bonus points may be offered on selected questions. When applicable, the amount of bonus points will be listed alongside the question.
  11. The eventual trivia champion will be decided by the total number of points earned.

I think that's about all that needs to be said to set it up. I'd like to ask that no one be a spoilsport; if you think this is a dumb idea or don't want to play, please keep out of this thread and let everyone else have their fun. Thanks.

Sun Jun 08, 2008 2:49 am

For this round I'll allow it and we'll see how that works out. However, I don't see a problem with it as long as you're not double posting to answer more than three at a time, it's first to answer gets the points after all. :)

14. Incorrect

Sun Jun 08, 2008 3:22 am

15. 2 - This is really a trick question, imo. Did they even record how many games players started back then? It could be anywhere between 2-4, I think.

EDIT - (You said no double posting, hehehe)

21 -

Celtics are the first team to sweep.
Lowest seeded team to make the finals were the 8th seeded 98-99 Knicks .
Oldest team yet to win a title - Phoenix Suns. Not counting ABA teams.

8. Jordan, 41 PPG
20. False (It will be an easy answer if I got it wrong  )

16: False: Miami was the 3rd Team to do it

20: False: Moses went to the finals in 1981 with the Rockets and in 1983 with the Sixers. But in 1982 they lose early (with the Rockets)

Sun Jun 08, 2008 6:52 am

6: Minneapolis Lakers (1953, 1954)

11: 21 pts.
21-Baltimore @ Philadelphia, April 13, 1948 (Trailed 41-20; won 66-63)

15: 5 (I think 3 from 76ers-buzzy mentioned, and 2 from Blazers-Maurice Lucas, Dave Twardzik)
buzzy is wrong on this one, no editing buzzy.

The teams had 5 players which have played in the ABA before, but only 3 of those were in the starting 5 in the Finals.
