What a load of crap!
this is stupid
he dont deserve it.
once again there si someone screwed over by Duncan
last year it was Kidd
this it was Garnett/Kobe/AI or T-Mac take ya pick.

oh well, people will relise what a stupid selection after they get whooped by the lakers again :D

Sat May 03, 2003 10:45 pm

what!!! i dont understand... its not the real MVP right, prediction?? some other form of MVP??? what the hell????

Sat May 03, 2003 11:10 pm

WTF!!??!?!!

Sat May 03, 2003 11:43 pm

This is very surprising, I thought it would come down to KG, Kobe and T-Mac but Duncan again??

Maybe the votes were based that the Spurs won 60 games and Duncan is the Man for the man's award.

Sun May 04, 2003 12:39 am

man this is wack, not that tim duncan wasnt good, but there were others who were better for the award

Sun May 04, 2003 12:47 am

:o

Hmm, well he's a great team leader...averaged double-doubles (23.3 pts, 12.9 rebs) 3 assists and 2.9 blocks...Which is definetly good. (Y)

But i'm still so stunned...i could've been certain that KG was going to win it...

Well that just kinda came out of the blue didn't it...

Sun May 04, 2003 1:04 am

Yeah, I tought he would win. Good stats, great teamrecord.

Well, but i´m not changing my signature :P

Sun May 04, 2003 2:24 am

I don't see what's wrong with the choice, obviously it was close, but any out of KG, Duncan, T-Mac would've been a great choice, and I'd have understood Kobe or Shaq as well they had great seasons too.

It's just that since there's no Jordan in his prime the race is to close. And even in Jordan's prime he didn't win it all the time. There are a handful very dominant players, all of which deserve it as much as the other... well ok some a bit more than the others but still :)

Sun May 04, 2003 3:17 am

He played well this season...BUT HE DIDN'T DESERVED IT!
it should go to KG,KB or T-mac... :D

Sun May 04, 2003 3:54 am

I agree with DG, Duncan deserved just as much as the other guys. and KG still is not out of the first round!

Sun May 04, 2003 4:33 am

 :x  :x  :x  :x

KG should definitley of won it. ARGGGHHHHH

Sun May 04, 2003 6:12 am

quote everything above.

i thought kobe, Tmac or KG had it in the bag

Sun May 04, 2003 6:55 am

I've noticed that since the nba began..they keep leaning towards giving fundamental-type-big-men-players the MVP trophy. The only unorthadox player i've seen to get the mvp many times was Jordan. That totally stinks :?

Sun May 04, 2003 9:40 am

Duncan won the most games with the least talented team...he makes everyone around him better. KG still hasn't made it out of the first round....Kobe still has Shaq, Shaq still has Kobe. T-Mac, Duncan, and KG were the only true MVP candidates this year (not taking anything away from Kobe's great season, but he still isn't the MVP of his team...he will be next year, though).

Althought the playoffs aren't supposed to count, if KG had gotten his team out of the first round, he would have won it, as opposed to Duncan. Neither guy has any superstars on their team...the only reason those teams are in the playoffs are because of KG and Duncan. Get it?

Sun May 04, 2003 10:03 am

The least talented team? In the entire NBA? Or just out of Orlando, Minnesota and San Antonio? I can't see how The spurs have less talent then Orlando.

And since when does having a superstar alongside you mean you aren't eligible for the MVP? MJ had Pippen, Malone had Stockton etc.

As for Kobe not being the MVP of the team, I'd say they're equal. Kobe Spreads the floor for Shaq, and Shaq helps Kobe by drawing alot of defensive pressure away from Bryant. It's a classic duo where they compliment each other.

Sun May 04, 2003 12:08 pm

t-mac should win the mvp. look at his teammates(jaque vaughn, pat garrity, darrell armstrong and a bunch of nbdl type of players) and gooden, giricek they are still rookies. compare them to spurs no doubt the magic is the weaker team. if mcgrady is not playing he's team might not make it to the playoffs not even in the nbdl. this just sucks... :x

Sun May 04, 2003 12:35 pm

Well, Im pretty sure that the Spurs also wouldnt make the Play-Offs if they didnt have Tim Duncan

Sun May 04, 2003 12:42 pm

what r all of u on about... i dont know where espn got that artice from!!! i look at nna.com everyday, even now, no where does it say MVP, u still r talking about Most Valuble Player right!!??? where but espn.com does it say dunken, last year when he got it it was all over nba.com!!!????

Sun May 04, 2003 12:50 pm

sorry about that, i just looked up at hoopshype.com and got the artcle
http://news.mysanantonio.com/story.cfm? ... xlc=990353

but how could this happen!!!! KG and T-mac had almost no help, KG was evrything for the wolfs, C, PF Sf, SG, PG all of it, how could any1 say that TD is an MVP, look at the help he has, D.Robinson, Parker, Rose, Jackson etc... look at KGs, Wally and Hutson only when they DESIDE to show up to the game, no C, no vetran help, no nothing!!!!

look at T-macs team, no C, rookie PF, no SF, bearly a PG???!!!!!
just coz they made it to the next round beating the NO.8 Suns!!!, Orlandop have to play no1 detroit, and we dont know how its gonna end,

i just cant say enouph on how pissed i am about this, look at the other player stats around the leuge, u have tonnes of player even bench avragind double double!!!!

Sun May 04, 2003 2:04 pm

I kind of expected it to happen. All of the award winners thus far are from winning teams and/or teams that have improved significantly over last season. I would have given the award to KG myself, but Duncan wasn't a terrible choice either. He has a good supporting cast, but with the Admiral's decline, he's pretty much the lone star on the Spurs, making him as valuable a commodity as KG and Kobe.

Sun May 04, 2003 5:41 pm

I don't like the decision to give it to Duncan, mainly due to his team's regular season record. I thought it was definately down to KG, Kobe and TMac. I think it's about time to bring in a new award. Duncan can have the "Most Valuable Player" tag and guys like Kobe, KG and TMac can battle it out for the "Best Player" award, as they are obviously two different things.

Sun May 04, 2003 5:53 pm

duncan didn't deserve it one bit...

too bad that the silly NBA goes by team record while voikng...

ignorant decision...duncan didn't even improve...parker deserved MVP more than him....

KG was my pick,,,brought the wolves to the 4th seat practicly single handedly...

What's wrong with having the best record in the league? When you lead your team to the best record, I think it shows your value.

Sun May 04, 2003 11:57 pm

Man it was close, why are people acting like Rick Brunson won it over KG?

duncan didn't deserve it one bit...

Jesus. So Duncan, this season was as deserving as say Alonzo Mourning?
I dunno who should have won, but in any case, it was never going to be a landslide, so I don't see why people are shocked.
Congrats to Duncan, I guess it could be possible that winning an award the previous year may have a say in winning it again (see: Ben Wallace).
