NBA Playoffs Conf. Semis (2) Hornets Vs. (3) Spurs

Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:39 pm

First! Spurms in 6.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:46 pm

Spurs in 6, I agree. God damnit, I really don't want the Spurs to win it again... Definitely rooting for a LA/Boston finals now.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:49 pm

I'm going with the Spurs in 6, too. Almost voted for the last option.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:04 pm

Definitely voted for Manu is a flopper but gut tells me Spurs in 6, Heart tells me hornets in 7 with a chris paul game winning fall onto ginobli, who flops in the wrong direction and is called for a foul, giving paul 2 shots and the win

Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:11 pm

I go for spurs in 7, it doesnt look like an easy matchup for the spurs. Hornets are playing better basketball in my opinion...-

lol nice ending

If we believe experience trumps quality, Spurs in seven is most likely. If we don't, Hornets in seven is. This side of the bracket gets epic slowdown deathmatch, while the other end gets a shootout. (Assuming Jazz can put down those silly Rockets.)

Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:18 pm

lol Benji; you voted Manu is a flopper, right?

I see Spurs in 6 the most likely option. They'll take Game 1, both home games and then kill them off in Game 6. The Hornets have been playing better, but its the Spurs.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:25 pm

The biggest problem I see with the Spurs is they have to use all of their defense to take away the Hornets offensive advantage, while not letting the Hornets defense make the offensive gap between the two bigger.

If any team can do it, the Spurs (and Celtics and Pistons) can do it. But considering how lackluster the depth has looked this year, I am not going to bet on it.

Tough, tough series. I hope Spurs win the series but after what happened against the Suns, I really don't know what to expect regarding how many games it will take.
Let the Parker vs. Paul showdown begin (Y)

Wed Apr 30, 2008 4:46 pm

I'm in for the last option.

Spurms in 6 - experience didn't show for the Hornets-Mavs series but San Antonio play much better D than Dallas.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 5:14 pm

Im pulling an upset, Oklahoma oh New Orleans in either 6 or 7 (Y)

Wed Apr 30, 2008 5:36 pm

Hornets in six, though that could be just wishful thinking.

Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:16 pm

Spurs in 5. The Spurs are the better team when it comes to :

-leaders/stars (Duncan, Ginobili, Parker > Paul, West, Peja)

-depth (Finley, Stoudamire, Barry, Thomas and dont forget about Mr. Big Shot ;) > Pargo, Wells and Mo Pete)

-experience (I dont have to explain that I think, TD alone has more Playoff crunchtime experience than the whole Hornets Squad)

The Hornets only advantage is the "on fire" advantage after burrying the Mavs.
I would love to see them reaching the Conference Finals, but it wont happen.

/edit: Damn, I didnt see the Manu is a fuckin flopper :( But cast my vote on that :D

my hopes are that manu breaks a leg and never plays again but my prediction is he and the spurs knock around the hornets, 6 max not surprised if it goes 5

Thu May 01, 2008 3:59 am

This will be an amazing series..would wish it to go to game 7 with the Spurs winning it (they have the experiences advantage which their opponent doesn't have)..

Thu May 01, 2008 4:45 am

My heart says Hornets in 7. I think they have what it takes. If the Spurs make the finals again, the numbers will be as low as last year.

I hate the Lakers, but even they would be a better option. My dream west finals will be Hornets-Lakers with Hornets going to the Finals.

Thu May 01, 2008 6:25 am

Going with supurs 5.. HOpe suprs 5.. I really wanna see NOH and SAS but.. I am for SAS coz.. Manu is a great player (i like his game).. ANd a finale between Lakers - Spurs (classic.) ||| no need to make the team of Hornets pitifull once again.. || So i am goning with "Spurms"

I think KB24 might have something to do with that dream coming true. Not to mention TD...

Thu May 01, 2008 7:18 am

Spurs in 6.
Anything but the Lakers.

Have you heard about Tyson Chandler ? :o

Thu May 01, 2008 8:17 am

Parker is not better than Paul.
And Manu better than West either.

Thu May 01, 2008 10:44 am

I think he meant the Spurs' big three > Hornets' "big three".

Tim Duncan alone tips the scale.

Thu May 01, 2008 12:30 pm

yeah its pretty clear to me that the spurs big 3 are better though thats not really a means for guarenteed success

Sun May 04, 2008 3:06 pm

Hornets blow out Spurs; though it was close until the last few minutes.

Great first win (aside of the mishap with the ring of fire) but this is against the Spurs, who have lost the first game of at least one of the series in their last 3 title. Game 2 will show if the Hornets are the real deal.

Bandwagon city!

Sun May 04, 2008 3:18 pm

Perhaps Hornets in six isn't just wishful thinking, though it's still a long way from happening yet. It's odd to see Duncan struggle like that though I doubt it will be a regular occurrence in the series.

Until Paul and/or the Hornets enjoy enough success that the inevitable backlash ensues, at which point he'll be overrated, carry the ball on every crossover and succeed only because the NBA wants him to.
