Monta Ellis immobilized

I can't find a link for this but he got into a collision with Brandon Wright during practice. He cannot move anything under his head as of now and I am hearing it on ESPN. I'm looking for a link now.

Not good at all. Here's hoping for a full recovery.

That blows, I really like him. Hopefully he'll recover fully, he'll lead that team soon enough.

Shocking news, I really hope he's ok. Being paralyzed from the shoulds down right now is extremely worrying to me, and I'm having a hard time thinking out this situation optimistically.

I'm really worried for him, hopefully he regains that movement.

Geez, how does that even happen trying to split a double team? And what's with letting him lie there for 25 minutes? That's a heck of a long time in an emergency.

He feel and his head hit Brandan Wright's knee. I'm not sure about the 25 minutes, but it's very worrying when moving a person that is paralyzed from the shoulders down.

Someone on RealGM noticed something that Monta said in an onterview a few days ago (here: http://www.warriorsworld.net/news/offse ... ellis.html)

Q: Was there anything in particular you picked up on in spite of having to leave early with the strained back?

A: No, because as I did I couldn't really do anything for three weeks to a whole month, so it was really just best for me to sit out and wait until the season comes back because I have so much to put on the table this season.

Q: How did that injury come about?

A: It was just one of those days I woke up, couldn't move for like three days. As I got moving I went to the doctor to see what it was and it was something I was born with. So there's nothing I could really do about it.

Q: Do you mean like a narrowing of the spinal canal or what, exactly...?

A: It's nothing serious, nothing life-threatening. It ain't gonna jeopardize my career. It's just something I was born with and sometimes it does that, sometimes it doesn't. It was just the first time it did it. So I just have to stay strong and keep going.

Q: Is there anything you can do to avoid it, like any exercises?

A: Just keep it strong.

I really hope he just aggraveted whatever he is that caused the temporary paralysis before, and he'll be moving again soon. Apparently he was joking with teammates while being moved into the ambulance, so that's a great sign. If this was his first time being paralyzed, I doubt he would be joking around. Maybe he thinks it's the same thing he had before, so it wasn't so scary for him?

Also, he was moving his legs slightly while on the floor. That right there is a very, very good sign that he's not completely paralyzed.

EDIT: ESPN is reporting that Monta moved both arms and one leg while being placed in the ambulance. That's great news, and I'm feeling a hell of alot more optimistic than I did 30 minutes ago.

That is bad luck right there.

Does sound serious... since when paralysis isn't serious anyway? I hope he is going to be fine in a few days. I wonder if he is in this position because of over pushing his body's capability's.

Some great news - Monta has been released from the hospital, walking, tests came back fine. He has a neck sprain and will resume practice in a few days.

Phew. That had me really worried.

Could not move for three days? Holy shit that is some serious shit right there, I'd be like, talking to God if I were paralyzed for an hour.

Wow, so it's a condition that he has, but it's not life threatening or career threatening. That's a dreadful condition, but it's so much better than being paralyzed for life. Glad to hear he's ok now.

I hope its not one of those chronic injuries that will eventually plague him when his body starts breaking down in the latter part of his career. Right now, he's young so he probably won't think much of it, but I hope it's not one of those things that hurt his career in a few years down the line.

I heard on espn that he walked out of the hospital at around 12 midnight that night. So i would think he is okay.

The latest word on his condition is certainly good news for Monta professionally and personally. I'm sure the Warriors are very relieved by the prognosis.

I talked to him yesterday and he's feeling fine. The team doctors are going to hold him out of full contact stuff a lot longer then he feels necasarry. He said he doesn't see any reason to miss substantial time.

I've been friends with Monta since we played together at a basketball camp in 7th or 8th grade.
