Mavs to sign Kevin Willis

Wow - comming out of retirement at 44, to play on maybe the NBA's best team right now.

What do you guys think about this signing? Will he be able to do anything? Perosnally I'm just looking forward to seing him on the hardwood again, as I'm a fan of the guy - He'll obviously play veri limited minuts, but I can't imgagine that him not working his butt of when he gets the chance.

This will be very interesting, to see a player of such age at the NBA.

I don't think he will get much court time at all. Probably just used as another body and as a veteran for this Dallas team for "non-playing" reasons. IMO just another 6 fouls to spare and some locker room presence. Did Kevin ever win a title? I may be wrong but I think I remember Richard Jefferson dunking on him in the finals back in 03.

Ah, I thought he never got a chance to win a title, but yeah, I remember he won one with the Spurs now. I thought he only wanted in to get a chance to win a title. I think Malone should've done that. Or Reggie. Ah well.

I don't think winning a title like that would really feel the same for players like Reggie or Malone. These guys want to lead their teams to a championship, not sit from the bench at age 40+

it was kevin who got slammed by Richard Jefferson (plus taunt).. i think he won't see much time in the court unless a player gets injured.. i think he might only be used as a great locker room influence for the young guns of the team..

A few minutes here and there to give the Mavs' bigs some rest leading up to the playoffs. If they sign him for the rest of the season I don't think his role will change much. His presence will allow Dampier and Diop a break now and again, give the Mavs a few more fouls and chip in with the odd rebound or basket.

He'll also be the league's oldest player and one of only two active players drafted in the 80s, no doubt making Cliff Robinson feel quite young in the process.
