Here we go. I'm really excited about this season. I know realistically they aren't going to 'win it all', but I'm looking forward to seeing this team gel.
I went to the home opener vs. Minnesota and saw them battle back from a 16-point deficit to win by 2. I saw the refs call a technical foul on Jarrett Jack after they called an offensive foul on him... before he had even reacted.
I saw Brandon Roy light the place up. It was great to hear a sellout crowd cheering him on... he's going to be something special.
I saw the Blazers beat Kevin Garnett and the Wolves with only 8 players.

Last night vs. Kobe and the Lakers, I was there as well.
First off, Kobe just looks weird in #24, I don't know how quickly I will get used to that. Anyway. About 25% of the crowd was wearing Kobe jerseys, which was a bit disheartening, but the other 75% was loud enough to make them not matter.
Brandon Roy sat out last night as a precaution, but it ended up not mattering.
The Blazers outscored the Lakers in every single quarter, and though the lead flipflopped for a while, 5 up, 5 down, they really never lost their flow- and the Lakers never found one. L.A. kept trying fancy behind-the-back passes and stuff, and they almost always resulted in a turnover. Another monster night by Zach Randolph (who I'm starting to forgive)- 36pts, 10rbs, 3ast, 3stl.
Nice night by Luke Walton playing in "his dad's house", scoring 22. And of course Kobe (who I must admit was nice to watch play) with 32.
The Blazers cruise to an 11-point win to go 3-2 on the season. Without Brandon Roy. Without LaMarcus Aldridge. Without Joel Pryzbilla, Raef Lafrentz, Darius Miles, or Sergio Rodriguez.

Lucky you. I've actually never been to a live NBA game even though when I lived in Miami I passed the AA Arena almost everyday.
I'm surprised Randolph is playing so well. I honestly didnt think he could still put up those numbers (not because of the surgery but just because I didnt think he was really that good).
Ah well, yall can have that one, we will take the next 3.

Donatello: Are you gonna stop hating Randolph now?
I don't care that it has only been a few good games, but I love him so much.

that Outlaw's block against Chris Paul was nice

ive been pretty impressed by the blazers this season, randolph is dominating!
Sat Nov 11, 2006 11:16 pm
Randolph sure can make it to the all star game if he continues this way, he is really playing good so far!
Sat Nov 18, 2006 4:10 am
A couple tough losses, but they're learning how to start games strong, instead of having to fight an uphill battles through quarters 2, 3, and 4. This is key.
I've forgiven Randolph.
Sun Nov 19, 2006 4:42 pm
HELL YEAH!! I second that..I think Randolph is gonna be a candidate for MVP this season..He has skills to compete at all star level..But i do wish he plays superstar level already..After all he already has a team to lead..

Well the Blazers are having some tough losses, but they're all close. And they stomped the HELL out of New Jersey (the nets only had 8 points in the first quarter). After the loss to the Spurs last night, we're sitting at 5-7, which is much better than most predicted, I'd say.
LaMarcus Aldridge is doing great, I can't wait for Brandon Roy to come back (couple more weeks) and see them on the court together. Dual-ROY candidates, I tell you.

Wtf? Has anyone seen this article? This can't be for real can it? I'm pretty sure this is the worst piece of writing I have ever seen...
Edit: Not sure why the link is stuffed. Just copy and paste if you want to read it.

"The preceding article was a piece of satirical fiction."
Buster Gunning stuff is always a joke.

Yeah probably should read that hey. Definitely not embarrasing at all...

LaMarcus Aldridge for ROY. The guy has been a consistant 7-10ppg scorer for the Blazers since he came back from his injury.
Thu Nov 23, 2006 3:38 pm
Annnnnd we win a nail-biter against New Jersey at home. 6-7
Thu Nov 23, 2006 4:23 pm
The one player i really like from Portland is Travis Outlaw....IMO he's gonna be a pretty good all round player i.e Gerald Wallace type.
Thu Nov 23, 2006 4:55 pm
Portland made some nice moves in the offseason. It's a shame they couldn't get rid of Darius Miles for someone before he got hurt. The Blazers have some nice young talent.. they might be a playoff team in the East, but they're one of the many good teams in the West. Seems like there is only two or three teams max in the west that aren't any good.

They beat Jersey Last night. . OH MAN What a game that was
Sat Apr 07, 2007 5:12 pm
oh man, no-one has been writing in this thread. seems that no-one cares about the blazers

. well i am going to try and start this thread up again.
They have won their last 3 games. that is a fair effort. Nice to see Roy still going strong, and is easily the favourite to win ROTY. LaMarcus has really stepped up his game lately but has some strange symptoms like dizziness in the loss to clippers and hasnt played since.
Big disappointment was Randolph missing the all-star game, how could you put in Mehmet Okur instead of Z-BO??? David Stern deserves to be fired!!
so anyway. i hope this thread will start up again!!

i thought we made a good effort against the Mavs yesterday, We were down by 18(i think) at 3 qtr time. Made a late push, but of course it was WAY too late. going down by 12(i think

) in the end.
For some reason, on NBA.COM standings, we are 6.5 games behind the 8th playoff spot with 6 games to go. Shouldnt we be eliminated from playoff contention?? i know that we never had a chance of make the playoffs anyway
Thu Apr 12, 2007 7:44 pm
so today, the Blazers made a huge comeback VS the Rockets. Roy had another good performance, scoring 20 points, 6 assists, and 5 boards. Magloire had a double-double also. Fred Jones had probably his only half-decent game for us since we traded to get him. he scored about 18 points(i think

)
so anyway. we were down by 19 at 3 qtr time and brought it back to within 3 points with a couple of minutes to go. we also had a huge chance to take over the game and get a win, with about 5 mins to go we were 5 points down and had all of the momentum, but rockets fought and took the lead back out to 10 again. we had another rally but it wasnt enough, going down 95-99
oh well, atleast we have a better chance in the lottery now. so i dont really care if we lose now. as long as Roy keeps puttin up consistent numbers. Roy for ROY!!!
Thu Apr 12, 2007 8:11 pm
Agreed, Roy deserves the ROY award.
I love all the teams that don't win that often, or don't make the playoffs for a while.
Thu Apr 12, 2007 8:14 pm
If Roy doesn't win the ROY who will? At least since Il Mago went down, no other rookie has been as consistent as Roy... Aldridge was probably his stiffest competition, but he didn't play at the start and he's hurt now.
Tyrus Thomas has given us a couple of scares and a sneak peak into that enormous potential the guy has, but not enough to grab ROY. Morrison hasn't done much. He was touted as a scorer, but other areas of his game were questioned. Now after one year in the NBA, he hasn't even scored that well. But I think Morrison will develop into a nice scorer in a couple of years.
I picked Randy Foye to win the ROY at the start of the season, but he hasn't done any miracles in 'Sota yet. He's been pretty consistent, but the level hasn't been all that good...
But one player that I'm probably most intrigued from this draft class is the Rodriguez kid in Portland. He puts some wild assist marks on the score card in a very limited time... He could be a big time NBA point guard surprisingly fast... Look out for him... See what happens to the Portland guard rotation, cause this kid could explode, if he is given more playing time...

Okay, time to get this going again! Andrew has said that he can change the title to "Official Portland Blazers Thread".
It is now a good time to talk about what you think will happen for the upcoming off-season and things that you want to see happen .etc
I really think we have a big chance of getting a top 5 draft pick in this year's lottery, which we deserve because of the bad luck in last year's lottery in which we got the 4th pick from having the No. 1 chance. The draft went very well in the end though, with Roy winning R.O.Y and Aldridge playing very well towards the end of the season and IMO will be one of the more dominant big men in years to come.
So anyway, what does everyone think will happen with the Blazers in the upcomming off-season?
