Miami Heat Thread

Wed Nov 01, 2006 1:45 pm

Yes, I'm a Miami guy but I'm not that big a Miami fan. Regardless, I felt like the defending champs deserved a thread albeit on the same night they get their ass handed to them by the Bulls on their homecourt after receiving their championship rings (losing by 42).   .....ah well, Miami fans can live with it.

Wow a bad way to start the season for the Champs! 42 points in your first game is a bit worrying if you go for Miami, Shaq looks to be on the decline megaly only 7 points and 5 rebounds! I dont think this team will make the finals this year but i reckon they will get a playoff spot

Yikes 42 points, did anyone tell the Heat it wasn't a preseason game.

Which leads to this premature discussion: Will the Bulls win the eastern conference?

Can I respond with a maybe?

Its up in the air at this point, a genuine favourite may emerge by midseason.

Oh daaaamn!! Cy is a mod now? Nice.

Miami got destroyed tonight. This team does not look very impressive (not judging from the first game). The team looks old ad Shaq is probably thinking about retiring and was probably during the whole game too.

Lucky I didn't put money on them, I was thinking about doing so last week but they got burnt big time. I'm sure they'll bounce back and still be Eastern Conference Champs. When I saw the scoreline though it felt like I was simming with my Knicks association in 2k7 lol

It was -- by far -- the worst loss in NBA history for a defending champion on opening night; the previous low was the Los Angeles Lakers' 132-117 defeat to Golden State on Oct. 29, 1982. The Lakers went on that season to win 58 games and return to the NBA finals under Riley.

Perhaps this is going to be history all over again for Pat Riley? It's possible...

Anyways, I got another question (as always)... how many seasons are left in the tank of Shaquille O'neal?

Wed Nov 01, 2006 3:31 pm

Until his contract expires...at least thats what he said.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 3:35 pm

when's that? this year or next year?

Wed Nov 01, 2006 7:28 pm

Damn , only 66 points ?

What were they thinking ? " Oh,we got the rings we don't need to play for shit now " ? :shake:

I'm not going to go on a rant and say fuck the heat ,but I am going to be critical about this performance .I just don't know what went wrong.. Maybe it was the lack of motivation ,the team chemistry sucks (thats just a guess ) , Shaq was on another planet or something else .Maybe this is good in a way ,the players will now have to work hard and bust their fat ass's at practice .The Heat are not the only one to blame. The Bulls did an amazing job. They played with fire and they just knew how to stop the team.

Oh well it will take a lot more then this defeat to get me of the Heat fan train .

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:11 pm

Dwayne Wade 25 points...everyone else had less than 10 points each. :o

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:15 pm

66 Points is so low. Wade scored more than 1/3 their score. Thats how crap they were.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:16 pm

I'm not sure if it would of actually made a difference but the whole ceremony at the begining should of been held a different night, perhaps a few weeks prior to the first game.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:19 pm

It's tradition that the championship teams get their rings at the start of their season if I'm not mistaken... something with the rings not being available straight after the Finals and the fact that the NBA likes the teams to get the rings in front of fans before the game... maybe not the latter but i know the first part is right.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:21 pm

Miami Should of actually like Champions. They got the ceremony. They should of lived up towards it. But they got smoked big time. I'm disgusted

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:24 pm

You're being a but harsh... it's only the first game of the season and the better team won. Just because they got their rings doesn't mean that they absouletdly HAD to win... shit happens.

You can be disgusted all you want... it's only one game. I don't see what the fuss is about.

And what is there to live up to? The rings were for last season, not this season.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:28 pm

Zoom. They got smoked by 42 Points. Champions don't get smoked by that much. They have the record now of the worst loss by a Championship team in the first game. :(

Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:30 pm

They had a bad night, the players admitted it. Shit happens.

As long as they stay humble and admit that they lost to the better team on the night and didn't play at their full potential then that's it.

Also, lots of records are meant to be broken  Don't sweat man, it was most probably disappointing for most Heat fans but I wouldn't thnik people would react so much as to be disgusted of them.

Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:01 pm

dont forget ben wallace was guarding shaq, the rest of the teams in the nba wouldve allowed alot more points from big diesel. Chicago were just the better team on the day. dont rule out miami yet, theres still 81 more games to go

Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:24 am

Anyone see the rook Thomas stuff Shaq?

Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:54 am

LOL. . .I'm glad they got Blown Out. I hate that Team

Thu Nov 02, 2006 2:13 am

I was torn on who I wanted to root for last night, Chicago or Miami... damn Ben Wallace makes me hate Chicago a lot (and the fact that everybody says they're an instant title contender!), but Miami is still my hometeam's #1 enemy.

Anyway, poor showing by the Heat... Shaq as well. I never thought I would see a rookie swat the big guy in his first career NBA game. Way to go Tyrus!!

No reason to throw a panic attack just yet though, the Heat will still end up as one of the top seeds in the East. I'm still not sold on Chicago yet, this was a fluke ;)

Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:14 am

What the Heat showed was so crappy, I can't put it all into words so I'll use emoticons for what I felt for the Heat:

pre-game/tip-off: :D :headbang:, damn pumped up about it.
1st Q: :|
2nd Q: :( :miserable:
halftime: :| , hope was still present.
3rd Q:  :x
4th Q:  :furious: :cussing:
game end: :wall: , just wasted about 2 hours of my life.

For the Bulls: They just played an awesome game.
:o  :applaud:

i thought i was kinda odd how they played a home game wearing their jerseys like it was an away game, by looking at this pic => Image
