great game by pierce.. i watched the whole game.. but i was still kinda disappointed.. he had 2 layups pop in and out and a 3 pointer.. i wanted to see him get his fg% to 45% or so.. and 3pt% up too.. cuz i'm a hardcore piece fan =)

and is it just me or does he always miss free throws in the clutch

for those who didn't watch the celtics game.. pierce took james on the last "important" possesion where celtics were up by 3 i think and with like 40 secs left and james went 1 on 1 .. james did a cross over from right hand to left hand then behind the back and it got poked away by pierce as the ball went back to james right hand on the behind the back.. and he stole it for the fast break where he got fouled.. and that finished the game

I could see how you might be confused, but this was a Celtic thread, not really about the Lakers, I would prefer to keep them out of here, every other thread is about the Lakers  (and the Mavs too)

Hey a cool fan, I know he has missed some big free throws, like the other night against Milwaukee, those would have put the C's ahead with 2 seconds left or something, but he missed and they lost. A couple of years ago against New Jersey he could have won an East Finals game with a pair and missed one. I think he made the Celtics last game very close by missing one, but they still won that one. Yeah he could work on that, but not many players that ever played this game, have shown clutch the way Pierce has, especially in the playoffs.

I almost never talk about Pierce, my favorite athlete in any sport, but tonight was special, and that strip of LeBron was huge, I hope LeBron remembers this night for awhile, James did go toe-to-toe with Pierce though and at 18.98-years-old that's something special.

Wow! The Nets are really strugglin' this year. I'm very surprised by that loss...only 63 points in 48 mins. :(

Pointing out the Nets losses only reminds people about the reason you're angry at them.

Nets 4
Celtics 0...

The old Celtics are just poorly matched against the Nets... Kenyon shuts down Walker.. Walker's frustrated but still got his ego and he keeps shooting.. Pierce is called for charges often.. They do a good job of stripping pierce and they go on the break.. Celtics jack up 3s quickly causing even more fast break opportunities for the Nets..

It reminds me of that year when Magic was matched up against The Sixers in the playoffs 2nd against 7th seed and i knew Magic was gonna lose...

I remember that year. i used to be a Hardaway fan.. it was Rony Seikaly, Grant, Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson and Hardaway
and Iverson got that 11 steals game or 10 steals game.. omg..

I actually don't like any of them, but I can tolerate The Celts cause of Pierce, I hate the Nets, they have the biggest wanna-be superstar ever, Richard Jefferson.

Some of you seem to feel mightily proud that paul peirce out performed lebron james...but it looks like you're all forgetting he's a rookie. Lets pit paul peirce as a rookie vs. lebron james right now for a more accurate comparision. I think it speaks more volumes that lebron can perform on basically the same level as peirce right now...that it does about peirce out performing a rookie by a couple points.

If Pierce losses he's a chump and Bron's the man and if he wins on Cleveland's floor, well he should of and LeBron is a Rookie, whatever.

a couple of points (4 more), rebounds (6 more), assists (2 more), steals (4 more), blocks (2 more), a strip of the ball at the end of the game and a win.

Yes LeBron is very advanced, yes I am proud of Paul Pierce, but I was not going wild about it, I was just happy for him.

Paul Pierce Rookie Season
16.5 ppg
6.4 rebs
2.4 ast
1.71 steals
1.04 blocks
2.35 turnovers
34.0 minutes
.439 FG%
.412 3pt%
.713 FT%

LeBron James Rookie Season (thus far)
16.8 ppg
6.6 rebs
6.3 asts
1.27 steals
0.64 blocks
3.64 turnovers
40.0 minutes
.399 FG%
.316 3pt%
.717 FT%

Okay so Bron gets the assists and plays a lot of point guard, Pierce shot the ball better, took better care of the ball, and made more defensive plays. Almost the same numbers with 34 minutes to LeBron's 40. This is LeBron's team, unlike Pierce getting what he could beyond Antoine Walker's hogging and whatnot, not to mention he got less shots than Ron Mercer as well. [LeBron takes 20% of Cleveland's shots, Pierce took 16%]

Well.. I expected Paul to out perform LeBron that game.. i didn't expect a 41 pts vs a 37 pt game..

I didn't think LeBron would score over 30 ..
Ya LeBron might average like 25 pts, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in like a couple of years but i think it is a diss to say that Paul only out performed
"A Rookie", Lebron by a couple of points.. just by looking at the two teams.. can you say Cavs are more talented?
Ricky(explosive scorer), Carlos(13/11), Big Z(Legit 7-3 All-star) and Darius Miles...

Look at where the Celtics are in the East and look at where the Cavs are... LeBron at 19 is no where close to Pierce right now.. Pierce is 26years in his early prime.... I don't think you can compare LeBron to the elites in the league right now until he is winning.. and i expect him to be a lvl beyond most of the superstars including Paul in the NBA in the next 4-5 years...
