To avoid getting rusty, they will play four friendlies against the Memphis Grizzlies' D-League affiliate.

I'll pick the Spurs to mess up and let a game slip, ultimately winning in five.

Save, the stamina

I like this year's Lamrock's approach to the Playoffs thread. Refreshing.
That said, Spurs in 4.

Meanwhile, Duncan has his first Playoff game without a field goal, snapping a 242 game streak.

This could have been a very fun 2nd round match up if the Grizzlies were healthy. Oh well. I have a feeling changes are coming for the Grizzlies team this offseason.

As the lone voter to pick Spurs in five, I do feel a bit silly right now.

You expected the Grizz to win 1 game?

Clearly, I gave them too much credit.

Spurs officially swept the Grizzlies.
I haven't seen such a lopsided playoff series. If Grizzlies could stay healthy, they might have won a game or two, but in recent weeks they forgot to win, even at regular season

This season really had an effect on Joerger. He looked like shit all series and let it all out in his postgame interview. Hope he keeps his job - he's a great coach.

Spurs take care of business, and get a little extra rest before Round 2.

Too bad this might have been their last shot as a contender for a long time to come and their shot completely wasted. Zach is on his last fat legs. Conley might leave and he's 29. Gasol's always fighting with injury and he's well over 30. 4th and 5th best players are old. VC is grandpa.
I start to wonder what stat lover Hollinger has in plans for the grizzlies. Their identity of grind house is no more sustainable.

At 31, I don't know that I'd say Gasol is well over 30, but I'd agree that he's peaked, and the Grizzlies' window of opportunity certainly may have closed. Looking at his career stats, Gasol also has an odd trend of following up a healthy year with one where he misses a chunk of games. Starting with his rookie season - where he played 82 games - he's alternated between playing at least 80 games, and missing at least 13 the following season.

for a small market team it was remarkable they had this long of a good run. they will have a lot of cap this offseason. kudos to Vince Carter. Tmac is a nba expert, iverson is going to the hall of fame, bryant retiring... but VC continues to hoop

I think last season was their last go at being a quasi contender, when they were a curry injury away from facing Houston and the LeBron show. Even when healthy this year, the srs gods didn't want them to make the postseason.
If they can keep Conley, which they very well might, they'll be a perennial 7/8 seed unless they draft well. They don't need to ditch their identity persay - keep the physical defense and slow pace, but get more free throws and 3 pointers.
