the comment may be biased, and at first glance it may be stupid, however if you actually think about it, it brings up a issue that occurs everywhere in football and basketball.

loyalty.

whatever hapened to it? i'm SICK and TIRED of hearing this old cliché "it's just a business", does anybody know what that actually means anymore?

i believe that any player can win a championship, if put in the right situation. now of course, a whole lot of things have to fall in place for it to happen, but anything is possible.

example: there were countless people saying that rasheed wallace would never win anything in his career (this was when he was back in portland) because he wouldn't step up and take a bigger role in leading an offense. people said that his temper problem was way out of control and he was a punk and this and that.
now look what happened. he's kept his temper under control, and he was put in an offense where he didnt have to be the main guy every night. and now, people say he was the pivotal final piece to the pistons puzzle.
oh and who was his coach? yeah...

i watched sheed for a long time in portland and after a while, i'll admit, i was getting discouraged, but with the help of brown, he shaped up and did it. i see no reason why brown cant do it with marbury also.

everybody knows that marbury has the talent to be the best point guard in the nba. if brown was able to help iverson and billups, i see no reason why he cant help marbury.

http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs ... 8/SPORTS01

^motivation cant be a problem. marbury just wants to win. it's not like he's playing for himself, brown even said before his shoulder injury, marbury was doing what brown asked him to do, it just wasnt translating into wins, and that frustrated marbury.

he's playing for his hometown where he grew up watching the knicks, besides the fact where, there is no nba player anywhere who steps on a court every night and says to himself "i want to lose today". same with marbury, he just wants to win, and he wants to win in new york.

But the current NY situation is not the right one for Marbury if he wants to win. The team is a mess.

Exactly. Marbury is not Larry Brown's type of PG, and neither one is going to change. Brown hates Marbury's game - he'd prefer a PG like Jason Kidd. People around the Knicks say there's genuine hatred between them. One will be gone during the off-season.

I can't believe it another lost agianst the T-Wolves, how your down by liek 20 pts and you come back at the end with trailing by only 2 pts and then you pass the ball to Butterfingers Butler,

Highly disappointed. (N)

<<Nice avatar ;) Of all players to make a resurgence in New York, I gotta be surprised it's Qyntel Woods.

Well Nate Rob had 34 last night, but Francis and Marbury sat out. C'mon dudes, lets get to 20 wins!

 That's sad..

Damn, Nate Robinson is really ticking off Larry Brown...

Lol I was just about to post that, I don't even know what to think anymore. It's blindly obvious though that Larry Brown was the worst possible coach to come into this particular situation.

I can't stand Larry Brown. He's a great coach, but he's a prima donna, a liar, a phony & a crybaby. But he's right on this. Nate has to grow the f--- up. Knicks are getting blown out of the building, Iverson dropped 47 on his ass, and he's showboating after a dunk? You gotta be kidding me with that sh!t! Some of these young NBA ballers turn me off with their stupidity.

Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:48 pm

 @ spitballs on the bus

well, hopefully you knicks trade the likes of Marbury, Francis, Richardson and Crawford for expiring contracts or to teams with a nice piece of cap space :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

It's messed up how the once pride of joy of the league is now a laughing stock. The knicks should be turned into a NBC sitcom next season.

Cool, now there's another division. Richardson, Rose and Brown versus everyone else:

WASHINGTON - It isn't just Larry Brown who is disgusted by the Knicks' lack of professionalism and pride. Several players expressed similar thoughts during a postgame team meeting that included Brown, Quentin Richardson and Malik Rose, accusing some Knicks of not caring and not competing.

"I played for the Clippers and we were bad, but I don't remember being around anything like this," Richardson said following Washington's 105-90 victory last night. "I never lost games like this. It seems like we don't care."

The Knicks, who dropped their ninth straight game and fell to 19-54, barely challenged the Wizards. They fell behind by 31 early in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 28 turnovers and 30 field goals.

Rose, who won two championships with the San Antonio Spurs, couldn't let another dreadful performance pass without saying something.

"Will it make a difference, I don't know," Rose said. "My gut is, I doubt it to be honest. It's at the point where I have to say something. If it falls on deaf ears so be it."

When asked why his message would fall on deaf ears, Rose added: "Maybe some guys don't want to hear it, some guys don't want to do it. At this point I don't really care. I'm going to do what I can to make this team better. I can't control people's attitudes at this point in the year. They're so set in what we've been doing. If you want to do it that way, do it."

Rose, who last week called the season an embarrassment, was visibly upset throughout the game and took his frustration out by kicking the scorer's table. Earlier this season, Richardson wanted to take his frustration out on Stephon Marbury before being restrained by teammates.

"I can't even explain it, man," Richardson said. "I've had a horrible season but I'm going to come out and play hard. You can tell I want to win, you can tell I care about the way we're losing and the whole situation. It just feels bad because you don't feel that the whole team feels that way."

Brown never sounded so embarrassed by his team's performance and attitude, saying, "Somehow you got to find five guys that care enough to compete. You got to hope you have enough pride to compete. I never in my life thought I'd have to be in a position where you're begging guys to play.

"I've never been in anything close to this. It's my responsibility."

A majority of the players, led by Marbury, tuned out Brown long ago. Now, players are acting insubordinate toward him and displaying a lack of respect. Players openly talk back to Brown during games or just ignore him completely.

Nate Robinson's relationship with Brown is deteriorating. After being criticized for taking ill-advised shots, Robinson attempted just one shot in 26 minutes last night. Robinson's defiant behavior was similar to what Marbury did during a game against Orlando in December.

"I told (Nate) it's just as selfish not taking an open shot as it is not passing the ball," Brown said.

Brown went on to call the game "one of the worst" while Steve Francis compared the mood around the team to a funeral. Richardson made a point to defend Brown and place the blame on the players.

"This has been going on the whole season so I don't want to say that coach is losing the team," he said. "I take my hat off to coach and the whole coaching staff. I don't know how they made it this far with us.

"I think a lot of people in that position would say forget it. None of the coaches have done that."

My respect level for Q-Rich has gone up.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 12:15 am

Well, Nate just confirmed to everybody that he's a first class nutcase. Has there ever been a more dysfunctional team that these Knicks?

Thu Apr 06, 2006 12:25 am

Man, I feel really sorry for the Knicks fans on this forum. I'm also glad that Quentin Richardson hasn't given up and hopefully he can return to how he was playing during his Clipper years. I loved Q when he still used his post up game...

Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:25 am

Is there some draft that will release all current players in the roster and they pick players into the team like what Charlotte did? They should do that... Pick a new GM too... (Y)

I wish he had gone to town on Marbury's ass.

No way Larry Brown's coming back for this torture unless there are serious roster changes. Knicks will have to bite the bullet and dump some of these losers.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 12:36 pm

the knicks won a game....hurray.. they've reached the 20 win milestone...

Thu Apr 06, 2006 2:28 pm

goddamn, worst season ever. well, lets hope for next season.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:27 pm

Damn, it didn't really want them to win against Cleveland out of all teams.

cklitsie wrote:Damn, it didn't really want them to win against Cleveland out of all teams.

They finally win a game and I could care less about this point. I actually wanted them to lose, cause maybe more'd come out of that at this point. Also, LeBron and the Cavs have been really entertaining to watch as of late and I haven't been able to say that about the Knicks. Horrible game for the Cavs tonight..

Thu Apr 06, 2006 5:59 pm

I actually wanted them to lose,

Now thats a loyal fan for you

Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:01 pm

Thanks, Larry, for the worst season in Knicks history

Interesting read. Perhaps it's not entirely fair to Brown but it does raise some good points about him not being immune to criticism for the Knicks' season. In the end, anyone and everyone who has significant involvement in what results on the court can be held responsible; Brown, the players, Thomas, Dolan...one could make individual scapegoats but really everyone's to blame.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:18 pm

I dont really blame brown, I blame the players. Not Marbury, he actually tried to get it done, but the rest. It has been a disgusting season, and it wouldnt have mattered if it was Larry Brown, Red Aurebach, David Wells or Whoopi Goldberg as the coach.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:21 pm

True, he had a daunting task ahead of him when he took on the job and the players aren't without fault but as the article says, he can't accept responsibility for the wins and then not accept any blames for the losses. That's not to say the blame should be equally shared but Brown hasn't necessarily been on the level in every aspect of his coaching and approach to the team.
