knicks somehow won( they almost blew it at the end..)... with anther starting lineup (woods started..)

playing for larry brown must be difficult.. never know if you will start or come off the bench... if you come off at all!

Sun Jan 29, 2006 1:13 am

It's nice to finally win a game.

Sun Jan 29, 2006 2:15 am

How do you guys feel about Zeke? Most of the NY sports writers & talk-show hosts want him gone. Sad to say, I agree with them. Zeke's proven to be worse than Layden at player personnel decisions. Instead of rebuilding from the start, he made our horrible cap problems worse with these bad contracts. Until NY gets under the cap, forget about signing a franchise player. Don't even mention trades, because no team wants the Knicks' garbage. Knicks are officially the old skool LA Clippers.

Jeff, I dont know what to think anymore. His performance as GM hasnt been good. But he has drafted some really good players. If only they could keep him on as a scout..

Sun Jan 29, 2006 4:27 pm

Crawford aint earning his paycheck.

Sun Jan 29, 2006 4:29 pm

Neither are 70% of the players in the league... Compared to Penny Hardaway and Jerome James, Crawford has been a stud.

But seriously..give the knicks time..we need to get allen houston off the payroll...then maybe we can make some moves.

Sun Jan 29, 2006 5:30 pm

Do you guys think Ariza should be resigned or released or sign and traded along with Richardson or someone for an expiring contract?

You seriously think Houston is the only thing that keeps the Knicks from making major moves? Their waterboy makes 10+ million per.

Hit the road, Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more

Maybe but JC's been more bad then good for the team.

The Knicks were ahead and playing awesome defense tonight, until coincidentally JC came in.

And Curry's a turnover machine. He does good as a socirng presence inside, but half the time he doesn't even get a shot up.

And LB, play David Lee already!!

And Qyntel Woods was awesome last night. Maybe he should start in the backcourt with Marbury or Lee start at PF and keep him at SF.

Well Davis returns Monday.

I still think Lee should be getting minutes.. And Malik Rose has been too inconsistent IMO to be getting minutes over Lee.

Might as well trade him.

But the problem is Isiah added more dead weight. And the guys he brought here are athletic, but they don't know how to play real basketball. Larry Brown even said he has to teach these cats basic skills in practice. It boggles my mind Isiah would go this way, considering he played on the same team with Joe Dumars.

Tue Jan 31, 2006 2:23 pm

ok, im confused, so Larry said he found a starting lineup (Lee & Robinson included), but against the Hawks, both come off the bench, and he has Rose & Taylor starting???? not to mention Qyntel Woods logged 0 mins, but the game before he started and played good.

yeh what matthew said.

LOL he's making 6.4 million this year. that's a little ove the MLE and so far he's in the running for 6th man of the year

Woods was out with an injury that occurred during practice.

He's been counterproductive. Every 5 or so games he'll have a good game yeah. But for the 4 games he doesn't, he jacks up horrible shots, turns the ball over in clutch situations, and he can't defend to save his life. The kid just doesn't know what he's doing. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him look back to LB for instructions. Especially late in-game. Slice it any way you want, but that is not a good sign.

Knicks were really horrible last night. I can't stand to watch them after being so hopefully with the 6 wins to start off the year.

Anyway, I started thinking last night about Isiah Thomas' GM acquisitions.

Isiah Thomas's acquisitions

I've changed my stance on Marbury . I used to want to ship and thought he was the problem and maybe he was, but he hasn't been this season. We suck, but I think we'd be dead last if it weren't for this guy.

Good
Stephon Marbury (Trade)(He gave up too much to get him and Penny)
Channing Frye (Draft) (ROY candidate) David Lee (Draft) (should be starting)
David Lee (Draft) (should be starting)
Qyntel Woods (FA) (has been a breath of fresh air the last couple of games)
Nate Robinson (Draft) (possible starter)
Eddy Curry (Trade) (still has a lot to improve)
Antonio Davis (Trade)
Jackie Butler (FA)

Bad
Jamal Crawford (Trade)(Luckily we didn't give up much to get him, but Trade him!!!)
Quentin Richardson (Trade) (What a huge disappointment! and compounding it is that Isiah gave up such a solid player in Kurt Thomas. Such a horrible move!)
Jerome James (FA) (Biggest waste of money EVER!!)
Penny Hardaway(Trade)(see Marbs)
Malik Rose(Trade)(I can't believe he gave up Nazr Mohammad for this guy!)

Undecided
Trevor Ariza (Draft) (He hasn't really played much, so I don't think it'd be fair to say anything too negative about him, so I won't say anything)

Wed Feb 01, 2006 1:22 am

those Crawford, Rose & Richardson deals were bad...even a blind guy could see that. But he did make nice picks with Frye, Lee & Butler.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 2:17 am

Good analysis, JWB. The only thing I disagree with you on is Eddy Curry. I don't like his game at all. Doesn't have the hustle, heart & nastiness I like to see in my big men. I'd rather have an Oakley or Wallace type - they won't score many points, but they'll own the paint. Knicks are soft, and that kills me considering how tough we used to be.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:41 am

So how many points will Kobe drop on us tonight? I say he breaks his own record against these softies.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:52 am

I'm not a Knick fan (in fact, far from it). But I just thought I'd pop by this thread and say this.

Qyntel Woods > Quentin Richardson. :headbang:

LOL, we'll it's true what you're saying though, we're up (or rather down) there with Toronto for worst defensive teams. Is it me or does David Lee suck at defending, he always just stands there when people are hitting big shots in the 4th?

ps. Jeffx: Curry doesn't have the heart.. pun intended?

Wed Feb 01, 2006 8:49 am

ineteresting takes John

coincidentally- the Knicks most successful lineups include Crawford over at 82games.com

The way I slice it is that Crawford is making the effort to listen to his coach. You may dog him for looking over at Brown for guidance or whatever but over when he was in Chicago he'd seldom run the plays called.

Crawford is somewhat of an enigmatic player- you can't expect him to all of sudden turn things around. Shooting more FTs then 3's is a big step in the right direction for him

As far as his contract- as I said before- it's a little more then the MLE (the NBA average). Considering It's a fairly new contract + his age and comparing it to the current market that the new contracts are going at, I wouldn't say it's bad at all. But hey, if you believe it's bad and your rational for that is because "blind people could see it", suit yourself. There are plenty of players who make $6 million dollars that Crawford is better/being more productive then

Purely coincendental, man. I don't wish the brother any ill will.

But the bottom line is, if he had Oak's desire, his game would go up tenfold.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 12:12 pm

So would the number of women related homicides in New York City. Oak was a bad bad man, and slightly nuts.

Wed Feb 01, 2006 12:22 pm

lol, more nuts than artest??? anyways jerome james and eddy curry had a 1/4th of oaks desire
1. curry would be pounding opposing centers until he dies of the heart trouble
2. jerome james would be one of the best backup centers in the league

I'd rather have an Oakley or Wallace type too, but I think Curry's at least useable. If he keeps turning the ball over at the rate he has the last couple of games I might be changing my opinion. Anyway, I'd still play him, but'd take any trade offers with strong consideration.

I didn't say that. Matt made that blind comment. The one positive I took from that trade for JC was that we didn't give up much to get him.

Crawford was improving defensively and not settling for 3s as you said and getting to the free-throw line, but he's been regressing the last 10, 15 or so games and really hasn't done much of anything, but been counter-productive.
