i'll keep the love going...
in celebration of Derrick Rose making the all star team (first Chicago bull to make it in 12yrs), i decided to come up with our all waiver wire all star team. yeah!
With only 8 teams, there was almost too much talent in our FA pool to start the season. yet i was surprised to see that a few of the players
that made all waiver all star teams in bigger leagues were actually drafted in ours. kudos to us
i tried to spice things up by mentioning who made the original pickup and where that player is now
C-
Channing Frye:
Original Pimp- Creed Bratton. now on Peach Baskets: Grant Hill thinks Frye would be a great fit for the Suns system. He convinces Suns management to give Frye a chance and poof! Frye comes out of nowhere to average 12ppg/2.5 3pters/1bpg. His value has taken a slight dip but he's on the Suns so he'll continue provide that unique combo of 3pters and blocks. I thought about putting Dalembert here but he's been way too inconsistent and he's spent a lot of time in our FA pool
PF-
Corey Maggette:
Original Pimp- Washington Bullets. Still on Washington Bullets. Most "experts" had Biedrins, Anthony Randolph, and some even Brendan Wright as the anchors of the GSW frontcourt. But it's Maggette that's emerged as GSW's top froncourt player. Since becoming a starter for Nellie's Warriors, Maggette's averaging 24ppg on a ridiculous FG% of .552! As usual, he's a FT beast- makes ~7per game at a 84% clip. Add in 6rpg and 3apg and you have a top 30 player. "Kudos to 'Bullets" for adding a player who was at the time a reserve.
SF-
Danilo Gallanari:
Original Pimp-Love for the cp3. still on cp3. The Rooster is the #1 bomber from the land of 3. El Gallo canned 10 3pters in the first 2 games of the season, prompting Love for the CP3 to snag him from the FA pool. Since then, he's been enjoying the 3pt ride. Surprisingly, the Italian is a contributor in the steals (.9 ) & blocks (.8) department, making him an even more valuable fantasy player.
SG-
Jamal Crawford:
Original Pimp- (Washington Bullets. still on Bullets. This was a tough call. As i looked through the add/drops for the SG position, there weren't any notables pickups...maybe a sign that SG is the easiest position to fill in fantasy bball? Anyway- Crawford edges out Louis Williams. Williams started out on fire but that jaw injury put him on the shelf for a month and since his return/Iverson returning to Philly, his production is down. According to yahoo's hooky ranking system, Crawford is basically giving the same production as Ray Allen. Ray Allen was drafted in the 6th round
PG-
Brandon Jennings:
Original Pimp-Tyrus Thomas Weekly InJ. Still my whore. Of course I'm going to pimp one of my players. but this is legit (*cough**cough**). The 55pt explosion vs GSW made him a household name in the NBA. It was almost like one those "you will always remember what you were doing when that event happens" lol. Fantasy owners rushed to scoop up the then relatively unknown skinny kid who skipped college, played a year in Europe, declared for the draft, talked shit about Rubio, and got drafted by the Bucks. He's fallen off some since then but his averages, with exception of fg% are pretty solid- 18ppg/6apg/1.9 3ptm/1.2spg. i must mention i added him after his 2nd game, 2 weeks before he went bonkers for 55pts
honorable mention:
Louis Williams, Corey Brewer, Carl Landry, Roy Hibbert, Sam Dalembert
if i missed someone, too bad. make your own list
