heard on the way home of the rumor lakers interested in trading for paul george, using their lottery pick as the bait

probably not the first of many rumors involving the lakers. i expect the celts and lakers to be the big headliners this offeason

Re: Lakers Thread

I read about Barnes getting max money but I tihnk he'll be like a DeMarre Carroll, not a lot of impact for the money.
If they can swing a #1 or #2 for George, that would obviously be an improvement over using the pick.
Oh yeah Whiteside would be a good pickup.
I also agree on not wanting Derozan.
Yeah the tanking wasn't fun and made worse by the farewell tour. glad that's all done and over with so hopefully the pick stays and then improvement will make the pick at least a mid first round pick next year

That is such a shitty rumor by Bill Simmons. "Heard LA will use the pick to trade for George even if it's the 1st pick. Indiana wont agree to it."

1) Lakers don't even know if they have a pick.
2) Kupchak doesn't let much get out so all these rumors are just shit talk usually.
3) Bird would want the pick and a LOT more for George who is on a very nice contract given the explosion next year.

You guys heard it here first: the Lakers will offer the Kings next years top three pick for Boogie. The Kings won't accept though.

Edit: how's that work with Larry Sanders? Wasn't he under contract when he "retired"? Can he be picked up by another team if he decides to unretire or does he have to go back to the Bucks? Would he be worth having a look at if he wanted to play again?

Jackal, Sanders agreed to a buyout meaning he took a lot less money and get out of the Bucks' service.

Obviously, these things are all for click bait.

Wow! Looks like the Lakers don't want to spend too much time rebuilding. If there's a short cut, why not.

Fuck Simmons or Ingram and build this?

C: Whiteside (or Big Cuz)
PF: Randle
SF: Durant (or Paul George)
SG: Clarkson
PG: Russell

?

Jackal already dodged it but the question remains- who should be the leading scorer next year?

Barnes would be an awesome pickup. The ideal small ball forward. Can shoot/post up and defend multiple positions. Excellent glue guy if you already have your scorer and playmaker

What's up with the derozan non love? Haha. The guy pretty much carried his team to the 2nd round. Lakers will need a proven scorer

Apparently Lakers fans still have just about enough arrogance left in their vein to reject DeRozan. This is kinda good news because I thought they lost all the confidence and ballz after years of FAs rejecting them and blockbuster trades busting them left and right. That's since Dwight's fuck Kobi departure which hurt their ego badly. Last season finally sent a knock out blow and probably humbled them big time. Their catch of the day was Hibbert/Bass/Lou. In result, we are living in a weird time. LakerNation dont rave much about their chance at landing a big fish like KD. Their testicles shrunk big time even tho Lakers were always a favorite to land superstars thruout history.

You need to get yourself a diary to rid yourself of all those cropped up emotions you've got there.

Sanders would be an interesting pickup. I don't think he's close to coming back but would be cool anyways.

I remember I think Jason Williams retired after signing with the clippers and her wound up playing for another team soon after

This Lakers rebuild has that Eddie Jones-Nick Van Exel era vibe to it. Will be good to watch the Lakers again.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to some team oriented basketball. Proper passes leading to good shots with everyone having fun while playing.

Interested to see who rounds out Luke's coaching staff.

I'd say trade for Paul George at reasonable price like first round + some gambles. The Lakers will still have cap space to go after 2 stars which puts them in serious contending mode right away. Fuck rebuilding.

Larry legend probably feels the same way about rebuilding

Who else absolutely loved Bill Simmons' reaction?

Great spot to be all things considered; just pick whoever the Sixers don't pick. The question is who will that be between Simmons and Ingram?

Today is going to be a good day.

Re: Lakers Thread

Simmons disappointed that he ain't getting a Celtics jersey with Simmons at the back. I hope Ben goes to the Lakers just to piss off Bill.

I think at some point it will end up with Westbrook and Love.
Lakers never was a team which build their team from rookies. They will trade D'Angelo and future picks to get all star(s).

You know, I was thinking the same thing the other day. The last time I was really excited about rooting for a young up-and-coming Lakers team was when Kobe was drafted and Shaq was signed in 1996

Ball movement looks good in the preaseason.

Love the Black-Nance combo off the bench, so much fun. Really hope Black gets that back up C spot this year.

Julius using his right hand, passing under control in the open floor instead of tunnel vision..good stuff.

Weird to think 24 isn't part of this roster yet exciting to see what these young guys can do.

Ingram any good? Not sure why Deng was brought in.

Yi Jianlian first big off the bench?

Deng was brought in so the kids won't learn from the nick young the defacto veteran on the team

Re: Lakers Thread

Nick's been pretty serviceable on both ends of the floor, he gets way too much shit for the goofball that he is.

Ingram isn't going to start so having Deng there to sort of show them the ropes isn't a bad thing. Ingram hasn't done anything really wow so far, I did like the circus shot/strength that one play against the Nuggets though.

Most impressed by Randle, he's actually shown improvement and I find that quite pleasant. D'Lo has a fan in me, that kid is fun to watch.

Yi hasn't played much so far in the pre-season but when he has he hasn't been anything wow. Black has been awesome and Zubac has been fun to watch in his limited minutes too.

This play

Re: Lakers Thread

Ingram hasn't been very productive yet. I think he is still unready for the physicality of the NBA. At first the Deng and Mozgov deal looks really dumb. I think the Lakers did overpay, but if Ingram turns out to be a star, by then Deng's salary would come off the books and Ingram would get a raise. In the short term though, Mozgov and Deng's contract might hurt the Lakers in terms of flexibility in getting better deals.

Happy with the game today, the Lakers are actually going toe to toe with the Blazers. With less than a minute to go, it is starting to seem the Lakers are on the uptick.

Re: Lakers Thread

Sat Oct 15, 2016 7:06 am

Ingram has looked quite raw to me. He is obviously not NBA-ready when it comes to physicalty, and I've been surprised by how many times he gets lost on court. If he doesn't add some frame, which I expect him to do (I am not negative about his growth), I could see him struggle during the next 2 years. His variety of skillset won't matter to much if he gets bullied they way he has been these pre-season games.

Re: Lakers Thread

Sun Oct 16, 2016 7:22 pm

Ingram's body looks undeveloped but it shouldn't surprise no one. He's even younger than Ben Simmons, is he even 19 yet.

Are the Lakers are running plays through Ingram or they are letting him find his own place on the court? The Lakers have so many young mouths to feed this year. D'Angelo will get his shots, eager Clarkson wanting to make a name for himself, Randle is also no shy showing off his ambitions. Their shots probably come beforehand. Seems like this will be an tough up and down season for the rookie.

Lakers To Wear 1980s Throwbacks For Select Games

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to wear Magic Johnson-era throwbacks from the 1980s at some point this season, according to multiple sources.

The Lakers' previous yellow uniforms had purple numbers with a white shadow compared to their current white numbers with a purple outline that were introduced for the 99-00 season when the team moved from The Forum to Staples Center.

The white numbers actually was a nod to the uniforms during the Jerry West and Elgin Baylor era of the franchise.
