That's no way to speak to 3 time defending champ, rookie.
It's not like Russell or Green makes the world difference anyways.

Looks like Hibbert isn't working out and is being shopped. I'd like to see them gamble for an unused player like David Lee, just to see if he'll fit in.
Fri Jan 22, 2016 12:38 pm
Nance Jr., Ryan Kelly, and David Lee sounds redundant. Besides Lee is old. Wouldn't he be any different from Boozer from last year?
Instead perhaps try to get a second round pick and underplayed young kid?

Golden State is the defending champs and still the team to beat. Adding Mozgov didn't help the Cavs much against the Warriors. I think everyone in the NBA is well aware of that fact. Unless the Lakers are willing to do some window dressing with Hibbert, I think the Lakers would have to just eat up his salary for the rest of the year.

Former Laker Samaki Walker Shares A Violent Story About Kobe BryantThe challenge was a simple half-court shot, with each Laker putting $100 in the pot for the first shooter to take. Bryant reportedly won the game, and tradition dictated that the team had 48 hours to pay the debt back. So when Bryant came to collect on the team bus before the deadline, Samaki Walker was wondering why.
Walker reportedly told Kobe he didn't have $100 to hand over, dismissing his fellow Laker. That's when things popped off.
Kobe sent a sucker-punch to the face of Walker, instigating a prompt response from Walker to stop the bus and challenge Kobe to try his luck again. Injured and ready to claim his dignity back, Walker was looking for blood and ready to get it from Kobe. It took some time to cool off, but eventually the situation was defused by an unlikely hero and an apology from the man who started it.
I mean, a lot of us wanted to Be like Mike in the 90s, and Kobe's come the closest of anyone, but that's going a bit too far.

At least it confirms it was fist thrown not elbow.
Btw is Larry Nance Jr. a legit talent? I mean what is the purpose of rebuilding Lakers to play this 23 yo kid excessively over Randle? I was wondering if he has a high ceiling potential.

Who knows what goes on in Byron Scott's brain. I think I read somewhere that it is supposed to be character building, having Randle and Russell fighting for the position rather than having it handed to them. Nance is also a 4 yr college man, meaning he is a little more seasoned. Also, Nance's dunks probably sells some tickets. I am speculating here but another reason might be to simply keep the two younger players out of Kobe's way.

I could see Russell being traded at some point in the future and can definitely see coach Scott being replaced in the off season too, he seems to clash with young players on the roster and since the Lakers are going with the youth movement now that's not the coach i see guiding them.
Tue Feb 02, 2016 7:56 am
I think only way for Byron Scott to lose his job is to win, and win more than up and coming losers like PHX and BKN.
Looking ahead to the 2016 NBA draft lottery, the Lakers now have a 55.8% chance of a top-three pick in next June's draft. If the Lakers fall below third in the lottery, Philadelphia will get the team's pick as part of the Steve Nash trade, via the Suns.
If the Lakers climb a spot in the standings, their lottery odds for a top-three selection will dip to 46.9%.

With the up coming of the 2nd Era of the Ish Smith Sixers the worst record can be easily grabbed by the Lakers. That top 3 protected chances will surely go up.

I have faith in Nick Young to get the Lakers every loss possible because that's what a great Tank Commander does.

Scott fires back at MacLean, defends Russell’s minutesMacLean's butthurt and is defending Lakers' Russell pick at #2 as he loudly hyped it up in the past. But it doesn't mean his criticism is all BS. Scott's taking it too personally when he has to address the issues of young players' inconsistent role, stunted development, confidence, and level of contentment.

bingo. Scott probably plays him because he "gets it". he knows where to be on the floor and plays within his limits
things should get interesting once MInny throws their hat into tank mode. maybe they will start winning more though if Mitchell stops playing KG and Prince

Report: Lakers are 'torn' about retaining Byron Scott as coachThe franchise seems torn on whether he'll return for the third and last guaranteed year on his contract.
He is expected to coach the rest of this season, and some within the organization wonder what Scott might do with a better roster. The one he has now has produced an 11-44 record, second-worst in the NBA.
Others, however, wonder about the effectiveness of the tough love he administers to the team's many young players.
I get the feeling that Scott isn't the right choice to helm a rebuilding team. Saying that he's too old school might be over-simplifying things, but I do wonder whether that's an issue. I'm not suggesting young players should be coddled, but if you're going to teach through tough love, you actually have to...you know, teach players something. It's not just about being tough for the sake of it, because that's how it used to be in the old days. There's got to be a method to the madness, so to speak. On the other hand, take Kobe Bryant out of the equation, and maybe he'll have a better focus and approach.

some interesting quotes from scott in the maclean riff. there's probably some happy medium between the old school hard ass style and coddling. must be frustrating for the fans to see the team stink and russell get inconsistent minutes.
where the stories about bryant taking russell under his wing?
Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:48 pm
I was actually curious too.
Is Kobe a good influence to young kids like Randle and Russell?
Thu Feb 18, 2016 11:20 pm
I think the headline should have read, "Is the Lakers Done with Tanking?". It's a conspiracy theory, but it seems more likely that Byron Scott was brought in the first place to tank. And the next conspiracy theory here is that the Lakers is going to win the draft lottery with become dead last because... Lakers!

Let's go Lakeeeeeers. 5 min on the clock, the win is all yours. Who needs Curry when you have a foreign maestro like Huertas
Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:11 am
Clarkson and Russell outscored Curry and Thompson. When you can do that in a 112-95 win that makes you the first team below .200 to beat a team above .900 after 50 games, it's been a good day.
Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:15 am
Oh that smile on Kobe's face. He told us a while back when the Lakers first met the Warriors that everything is possible when it comes to basketball. Wise words.
Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:16 am
oh you don't know how happy I am right now.
Mon Mar 07, 2016 12:45 pm
Grats. And the good thing is that the Lakers can afford this win. Still has a comfy record as a 2nd worst team in the league. In the meantime Hinkie's running away to become the absolute worst team. The Lakers just might be able to land top 3 pick this year.
http://www.nba.com/news/2015-16-golden- ... ns-record/The race is tight now with the loss against the Lakers.
Mon Mar 07, 2016 1:20 pm
best team in the conference beat by the worst team of the conference. You just can't make this shit up. Usually, if Steph has on off night some other player picks up the slack. I call conspiracy on this. hahaha
Thu Mar 10, 2016 12:37 pm
Awesome play from our young fellas. I'm a big fan of Russell, like JC and on the fence on Randle. Hope he improves in the off-season.
For all other Laker news I just visit Tankathon.com for the rest of this season. Gimme top 3 (2!).
Also: Screw the Nets for sucking so hard. That pick is going to Boston.
