Re: The Dallas Mavericks Thread

Sorry dei but I'm just rooting for Dirk's success and not illusional Maverick's success at this point. Heck, I even want the Heat to blow up the roster for the sake of such super team that we mentioned above. Warranted that Wade goes to join the Rockets. LoL

Only problem is it's the Lakers but...

That is humanly and physically impossible. Unless he grows it so long that he trips on it.

I guess it'll have to do for the Mavs. For that price, he's capable enough.

He won't be a difference maker for the Mavs though it's important to note that he's from Canada so he can't fail. Anyways they're still after Oden. I hear this signing doesn't hurt their chance but rather helps. We shall see...

If Dalembert can play like Dampier and Diop before they got their MAX contract with the Mavs, then it's good. They need a another C to for backup. though.

Good job retaining Brandan Wright. Mavs roster looks pretty set and I like it. Good enough for making the Playoffs for sure. And next year it will be another summer with big hopes of signing a decent FA. How can I even be hopeful bout that though?

Woot, dei's avatar's disturbing.

On the topic, how is the Mavericks cap situation as of now? Are they in a situation where they can land a max player and little more next season? If then it'd be great to see them making a playoffs by all means because that will make them a even more attractive place to play for.

Pretty much depending on the pay cut Dirk is going to take. Let's say he resigns for 10M$ then they will have a 45M$ payroll (estimated number), depending wether or not they plan to sign Devin Harris this season.

With the cap being around 58$M usually (?) that would leave them a good amount of money to improve the roster and maybe snatch a max guy with a sign-and-trade (a lot of trade chips with guys like Ellington, Wright, Mekel or Dalembert who will have expiring contracts)

Sounds better than it will be I guess, given what the Mavs did the last two offseasons.

Well it's not like they didn't try though, they just lucked out on some of the big fish unfortunately.

... and I doubt they will do any better next year when the Lakers and the Heat will have pokets full off money to spend on the big free agents that will probably hit the market.

So with the signing of Dejuan Blair and Devin Harris for a really moderate price, the Mavs roster looks finished. I doubt that Oden will come given the loaded frontcourt and the fact that he wants to play.

I like this roster. Pretty stacked on every position. Now it is Rick Carisles turn to find the best rotations and bring the best out of every player.

Gave it a read few days ago and I have to say as a Mavs fan there is not much you can really argue about. I mean, from an organizational standpoint, everything sounds very clear and describes how "tough" the NBA business is in terms of the fact that you have 29 competitors that make it a very rocky path to success.

Having won one Championship in the recent years is already a feat that many franchises are dreaming about and many more won't achieve in the next 10-20 years, so it's not fair to be too harsh with the Mavs recent moves.

Some journalist even graded the mavs moves at D, grading them so low when the season haven't even started is ridiculous. Sure they missed out on Dwight but doesn't mean they become the Kings and got lower although the West is going to be as competitive as ever.

There is still Gal Mekel, which is a rookie. Let's hope Carlisle gives him playing like he did with Crowder.
