I hate undersized shooting guards that win slam dunk contests in a piss-poor fashion (Fred Jones), but I must hand it to him, he played very well that game.

The Raptors played well as a team, but they still got outrebounded and didn't shoot too well. It was their free throws that pulled out the win. Bargs played well in 13 minutes, scoring 8 points on 2/2 three pointers and grabbed 4 rebounds, but had way too many fouls. If he can lay down the fouls and adapt to the NBA game, he should make some noise.

You see him draw two offensive fouls on Etan Thomas and some other guy.
A Karl Malone move by him.
Good to see that he was playing well.

Yeah, I read he overexaggerated on a couple offensive fouls, but it worked. Funny thing was, they called it his Euroleague experience.

My opinion on the game against the Wizards is based on what I have read so please no flaming if it disagrees with what you think:

It seems that the backup unit was working together really well and was clicking, they outplayed the Washington bench by a lot, and did alright, knowing what to do as a UNIT, not as individuals, no matter who was on (ie. two starters, three bench players, or 4 bench guys and one starter).

Peterson was held to 6 points, but it's preseason so I guess one bad exhibition game shouldn't mean much.

Bargnani did alright in his first game (exhibition but whatever), I think for the next preseason game, he won't be anywhere near that foul prone as he has gotten over that hump of his first game (though I do think he will get something like 4-5 fouls in his first SEASON game, and stay a little foul-prone until after around 7 games).

I guess it's nice to see that Bosh has worked on his three-point shooting, but I just hope that he'll be just taking the odd-three here and there, and not taking like 2-3 a game and just hanging on the perimeter.

I read somewhere that the Raptors only shot 38% (FG%) overall in the game, with a horrible 21% in the first quarter. Not sure if this was because the Wizards' defense was really THAT great or bad shot selection. Though I did read that despite a good game by Jones, his shot selection could improve a little. Same could be said for Ford.

Let's all hope for an exciting 2006-2007 Toronto Raptors season and hope that they are a force to be reckoned with :D

EDIT: Overtime against Celtics. TJ Ford finishes the night against Boston with: 6pts, 4 ast, 1-5FG, 1-2 Three-pointers, 3-4FT, 6 Fouls :shake: , and 8 turnovers :shake:

Boxscore for the game: LINK

EDIT #2: Raptors WIN!! Garbajosa with 18 points, 6-10, 4-8 from 3 point land, though I would like him to get more rebounds, only two defensive ones.

Calderon another big plus off the bench, 13pts, 6-9FG, and 6ast.

13 points by Bargnani, though he shot only 4-13 (0-5 3ptFG), also got 5 rebounds.

Fred Jones' statline: 14pts, 2-11 FG :shake: , but 10-11 FT, 8 rebounds, and 7ast :) .

Kris Humphries did well in his limited minutes (played only 7:09), 8pts (2-5FG, 4-4FT) and 3 rebounds.

Tucker played today, 2 minutes, 0-2FG and 2 fouls.

EDIT #3: Had to put this somewhere, Rajon Rondo owned the Raptors tonight, 29pts, 8-13FG, 2-3 Three-Point FG, 11-12FT, 4 Rebounds, 5ast, 3 steals, 3 fouls, and ONLY one turnover.

Yeah, they're hailing Rondo as the next coming of Jesus over at RealGM, but he had a really good game. I'm happy with everyone's performance, good and bad, for the preseason except for TJ Ford. He hasn't been good the last two games while everyone else has been showing promise.

Yeah I know, jus cause of one game, everyone is on Rondo's dick.
I agree with you on the TJ comment.
Everyone showed alot of promise besides him.
But ay , I guess it's just preseason.

Thu Oct 12, 2006 5:18 pm

Rondo!!! I love that guy. Not a very good game at all for TJ but it is only the preseason, good luck for you Raptors fans

Bosh out for today's preseason game with a minor heel injury, Bargnani starting in his place. Live radio broadcast available on the Fan590.

Mon Oct 16, 2006 3:19 am

I'm REALLY concerned about TJ Ford's defence. Toronto isn't going to be the Spurs anytime soon, but letting Arenas score 29 points in 29 minutes and letting Rondo run wild concerns me.

Mon Oct 16, 2006 4:13 am

TJ Ford cannot make a layup today.

Mon Oct 16, 2006 6:12 am

Well, we won. Anyone willing to give a summary if they managed to watch the game?

Mon Oct 16, 2006 6:14 am

Damn, I heard (on the radio/Fan590) that Jones had a bad collision when going up for a poster/dunk and was sent flying to the ground and had to sit on the bench with ice on his wrist.

Man, this guy has to take it easym it's only the pre-season.

Nice thread on the Raptors RealGM boards  :LINK

RealGM is the funniest forum I've ever been to. These guys make joke after joke that I have trouble keeping coffee in my mouth, let alone swallowing it.

Anyway, Raptors up 6-0 without Bosh, Ford, and Bargnani against the full-manned Cavs. Hopefully the Raptors would keep up this winning streak well into the regular season.

Mon Oct 23, 2006 12:53 pm

I'm gonna try and stay humble and continue to say, it is still only preseason, though it's starting to get hard. With each game the Raptors win, the harder it is for me to try to stay composed.

Mon Oct 23, 2006 1:02 pm

Did anybody go the the fan fest?

I did. Anybody else?

Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:47 pm

^ I doubt anyone else did, but how was it?

Tue Oct 24, 2006 5:28 am

I went, it was pretty shit, they just did some shooting games and I didn't get any of the t-shirts that they threw to the crowd.

Oh well, I managed to sit in the very front row (not at the VERY front and actually courtside), so I managed to get to see the players pretty close-up, which is a first for me.

Garbajosa really does look like a dude from a porn movie.

Tue Oct 24, 2006 6:08 am

It was pretty bad, but some things we pretty funny, like the singing of the Anhem and the soul-train dances.

That was awesome. He really caught that guy off guard. It reminded me of a Family Guy episode last night where Peter fought a giant chicken out of nowhere for like 5 minutes straight.

Who saw the "Real Training Camp - Toronto Raptors" ?

I am watching right now on NBATV, youcan watch it on RapsTV and on TVU (NBATV)

Tue Oct 24, 2006 12:28 pm

I saw some of it earlier. It was cool, but nothing special.

Thu Oct 26, 2006 3:31 pm

Raptors win 106-102 against the Celtics. Too lazy to post the boxscore because it's late and I wanna sleep. Few notes I read were that Peterson was the Raps leading scorer and Calderon had something along the lines of 19pts and 7ast. Also happen to stumble along onto this picture in the RealGM forums...

Haha that's funny.
Good game today.
Looks like we are gonna end the preseason in style and with a perfect record (y)
Hopefully this winning continues into the new season
