Andrew Bynum joining anywhere would have been surprising. I just want to know the logic behind it. They don't have enough big dudes already?

The last thing the Pacers want to see is Bynum destroying them in a Heat jersey.

Pacers is where Bynum can just relax and focus on his bowling game because of the team's abundance of bigs instead of having to work extra hard in practice just to get himself in condition because the team is counting on him like what happened with the Cavs.

Well that's just silly. There's no way Reinsdorf takes on more than one contract that runs past this season.

For future reference, stuff like that can certainly go in a new thread. :)

Larry Bird just called you dumb.
Bird scoffed at the notion that the Pacers might be signing Bynum merely to keep him away from Miami or other contending teams.

“We don't have the money to throw around and let them sit on our bench,” he said. “That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.”

All these news on struggles of supposedly 2014 LBJ contenders must be encouraging for the Heat fans.

I could have envisioned LBJ going back to the Cavaliers but Kyrie's lack of development and Deng trade kinda killed the mood. The Lakers also are not sexy no more with Kobe's 50 mil contract. Rose is out and the Bulls' future is uncertain. That leaves only a handful of teams that could contend for top free agents like LBJ, Melo, Wade and such.

LeBron won't leave Heat until Wade retires.

But is it financially impossible for Melo to join Kobe?

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2013-14 Season

Sun Feb 02, 2014 9:40 pm

Financially possible, but the supporting cast would suffer.

Re: Random NBA Discussion 2013-14 Season

He'd also be taking a paycut to join a roster that's likely to be thinner than the one that's produced a record that's tied for second worst in the West, not to mention playing second fiddle to Kobe. Somehow, I don't think those factors are going to be trumped by the "It's an honour to play for the Lakers" line.

The Heat were never interested in Bynum except to keep him out of someone else's hands, especially with Oden actually appearing to round himself into playing well. They don't want to work in a second big man with knee issues, especially one who needs the ball.

The Pacers have nothing to lose with the situation because as noted they're stacked up front and if Bynum dicks off and never plays it's no big deal. Bird and other people within the organization are big believers in the notion that you can take a second-tier knucklehead and get them to buy into the team system if it's strong enough and you show faith in them. Artest and Lance Stephenson being the two most infamous examples. To this day Artest still talks about Bird (and Adelman) as having saved his career.

Plus they probably want to start trotting out some Hibbert-Bynum lineups to fuck with Miami.

There's a reason Melo needed to be dealt to the Knicks instead of just signing outright.

If I had to bet money, I doubt Dwight will be commonly replicated among superstars anytime soon.

LeBron will stay in Miami even if Wade retires or signs elsewhere. The instant this team slips, Miami can dump all the veterans and rebuild around LeBron in an instant. Cleveland didn't have that option which is why they kept piling garbage on top hoping it'd pan out. Riley and his team have rebuilt the Heat from scratch after bottoming out into contention three times in 18 years. And when he's not coaching he's willing to cut bait on even the largest of megastars, as Joel found out this year.

Read reports of that too, it's also speculated that it's one of the reasons why the Pacers got Bynum so the Pacers will have a wild card of their own to use against the Heat's wild card of Oden if he does well in the postseason.
It's always a good thing to be prepared for a wild card.

Stat whore strikes again.

It looks like Monroe did hit him, certainly not enough to make him fall like that. (but hey it works for Chris Paul too)

Chris Bosh still has the best flop in Heat history, but that's at least fine-worthy.

First video is particularly funny. In the first play, Wade shoved LBJ's back a little and stole the rebound. In second one, Ray Allen just positioned himself better for the rebound than LBJ but surely could have given LBJ more spacing if he wanted to. In both occasions, LBJ could have went after them harder (but he just choked).

shadowgrin wrote:Stat whores strike again.

Corrected. Entire Heat team are stat padders. Wade/Allen went after meaningless REBs in a decided game when they just could have let LBJ pick up his triple double.

LeBron didn't get a triple double in this season yet, all frustrations are justified.

Because they got the rebound?

Well its considered a bit humiliating for someone to do that Vs them. So when the dude fails they laugh at him to humiliate him instead.

I think dei meant lackluster and slow emotions from the Bulls' bench.

The Lakers literally ran out of players against the Cavs tonight and some weird rule where they get to keep one guy who fouled out in the game was activated. A technical was called any time Robert Sacre fouled. Needless to say the Cavs still lost.
