Thanks Ty for clearing it up. He rejected Yi on last play.
Yi played well in the end. Looking forward to see how this team does in preseason. I'm still thinknig they will make the playoffs ahead of the Heat.

Yi's picked up three fouls in four minutes in their pre-season opener
Wed Oct 10, 2007 11:53 am
Yeah... having a rough game as of now.. 4 minutes played, 3 fouls with no points, 1 steal, and a block shot.
Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:01 pm
But Bogut has got 14 points (4-7 FG, 6-8 FT) 2 Reb, 2 Ast and a steal to half time. Apparently he is playing quite well.
Yi, CV and Redd have struggled. Mason, Simmons, Mo and Bell have looked good along with AB6.
Bucks are playing solid D and are up by 1. Sucking a bit on offence, seem rusty and still learning the new schemes. If we hit the boards and get shots to fall we should get a W.
Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:57 am
Yi scored 9 points in under 10 minutes against Utah so far. Simmons is playing well, Ivey too. The rest of the team is sucking arse at the moment though.

Good to see Yi bounce back after the lackluster performance against the Bulls. Right now he's only played two and a half minutes (must be something wrong with the live feed) but is leading the team with 11. Looks like the guards are finally trusting him.

Once Yi got comfortable he took over offensively. He's played SF through the whole game, and alternating between PF/C on defence. I got a bunch of stuff to write out about the young guys I've seen play, so I'll include Yi in there. Maybe a preseason scouting thread?

Yi just needs a bit of time to adjust. I agree with whoever said that Yi will benefit a lot for the fact that he has experience playign internationally. I think that Yi will be the quickest in this rookie class to start playign at a high level. Hopefully my prediction of Bogut, CV, Yi frontcourt will happen sooner than I expect... problem with that lineup is who can guard the SF position...

Good idea

I doubt it for 2 reasons. Bobby Simmons has been playing exceptionally well and looks to have recovered from his injury and found his past form. Secondly, CV has been a bit dissapointing and is hopeless on D. If Yi continues to play well I think you will see Simmons, Yi, Bogut a lot, with Mason/CV/Gadz replacing them off them bench.
I listened to the first half of the game, then I had to go to class. Surprised we won. Must have played better in the second half. Our first quarter was shit, little better in the second. So far 2 from 2. Even though they are pre-season games, it goods to get a winning culture in this young group.

I'd say that had something to do with it as well. The NBL was also on FTA TV so basketball was getting a lot more exposure in general.

I remember in 2001, we got NBL on ABC I think... and then after that it was cut. What a shame.

You have a good point but I'm still banking on Bogut/CV/Yi by All-Star break and Simmons can be dropped to the bench. However, if he keeps playign well, then yeah, CV or Yi will be on the bench.

Wednesday is the Milwaukee Bucks first game at the orlando magic. I am really excited to see how the bucks will fair. I would think that the magic would be the favorite in the matchup, since it seems everyone is predicting the bucks will not even make the playoffs. Im looking forward to seeing how well Bogut plays, hopefully this will be his breakout year. Also the biggest thing to watch is of course Yi. Hopefully his rookie jitters dont get the best of him and he has a solid game. Royal Ivy seems like a good pickup that the bucks recently acquired. But the biggest challenge for the bucks this season will be team defense. I hope the new coach will teach this team some team D, and if they can play solid D, they are worthy to make the playoffs.

Starting line-up has been set: Williams/Redd/Mason/Yi/Bogut.
Bogut still isn't 100%, recovering from that wrist sprain, but will be playing (thank-god) and more than likely opposing Howard.
Captains have been named, as elected by the players: Mason, Williams and Redd.
Good to see Sessions stick with the team, a year in the D-League and a solid off season next year could see him develop into a nice player.
Sessions and Storee will be inactive, with either Ruffin, Voskul or Noel. More likely Noel for the opener, as the Bucks have said they want to get Howard on the line. Be interesting how the bucks match up, especially if the Magic go with the rumoured line-up of Nelson/Bogans/Turkoglu/Lewis/Howard.
Looking forward to seeing if the offence clicks better after a below average pre-season, and that the defensive intensity preached at training camp in present during the games. Hopefully Redd steps it up a notch after a poor offseason by his standards. I expect the ball to go into Bogut early, and CV to have a nice game off the bench. Can imagine Yi getting 2 fouls in about 20 seconds, ditto Gadz. Will be a tough opener that would be nice to win but not likely. The Magic have a lot to prove to their fans, and Lewis and SVG need to show their worth. I think it will be close, but the Bucks will fall behind just in the end.
Projected rotation:
C - Bogut
PF - Yi
SF - Mason
SG - Redd
PG - Mo Will.
------------------------
6 - CV (PF/SF)
7 - Simmons (SF/PF/SG)
8 - Bell (SG/PG)
9 - Gadz (C/PF)
10 - Ivey (PG/SG)
11 - Ruffin (PF/C)
12 - Voskul (C/PF)
-------------------------
IR1 - Noel (Possibly to D-League to develop)
IR2 - Storee (Hip soreness)
IR3 - Sessions (probably to D-League)

Desmond Mason is in the starting lineup!
I recently just picked him off the FA list in fantasy ball.
And him being voted as co-captain, after being with another team the previous season, really tells something about Mason being liked by the players in Milwaukee.

Man, everybody but Bobby and Redd got their asses kicked by the Magic today. Really disappointed in Mo Williams who had only 1 assist, and he's on my fantasy team. On the other hand, Dwight Howard was a beast with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocks in limited minutes (due to the ass-spanking).
Hopefully they'll bounce back.
Thu Nov 01, 2007 3:10 pm
Yeah redd was solid, and Simmons too. I liked what i saw from Yi. He hit a few good shots, made a block, steal, and showed a nice game for his first. I wasnt expecting him to come out and score 15-20, so IMO he did well in his first game. I didnt like how the bucks used bogut though. He didnt get enough touches in the paint. And the shots he did get showed he could score if they just gave him the damn ball!
Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:07 pm
Hey young buck... U able to tell me how Yi got his fouls? Im guessing you were able to watch the game...
Fri Nov 02, 2007 9:44 am
Pretty disappointing opener. Redd was decent, and Simmons was impressive. Once he gets his quickness back he should start. Yi showed some promise, and once he gets more comfortable he will make a big impact. We shot terribly, and by the sounds of it our offense was average.
I thought Bogut played good D for the first half, and rebounded well. He shot poorly though. Most of Howard points were when Bogut had to switch off Howard.
All in all, I'm expecting a much better performance against the Bobcats.
Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:20 am
dude, everytime I looked up, Redd was making some ridiculous step back jumper with a hand in his face.
Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:08 pm
Yi got the "cassell pump fake, lean in to defender" move done to him once. Thats all i really remember. I think they were more towards his inexperience rather then rookie calls. He did have a nice block and steal though.
Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:35 pm
Yep, just gotta see if he stops being physical if he is picking up quick fouls. You dont want a player to shy away after picking up some quick fouls and become a non factor. And you dont want them to be reckless either... hope Yi is neither.
Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:12 pm
Another Loss...
Mo Williams lost this one for us. Why take a 2 when we needed a 3 to tie?!?!?!?!?
Bogut was huge, was a real force on D and had a great overall game. Played good on offence in the second half. CV put up some good numbers, Bell was respectable, Redd was decent, everybody else was blah.
Big game against the Bulls tomorrow, both teams 0-2. Bucks improved drastically tonight, and probably would have won if Bogut didn't foul out. If we keep improving we should have a good chance of winning the home opener tomorrow.
Sun Nov 04, 2007 1:03 pm
Damn i didnt watch the Bucks vs Bulls game tonight. So Yi lights the bulls up for 16pts 8rebs, 1ast, 2stls, 2blks on 6/14 shooting and 4/4 from the FT line. NICE!!!
Sun Nov 04, 2007 1:08 pm
Redd also had a great line. Didn't shoot a great %, but had 27 points 9 boards 5 assists and 3 steals.
Charlie Bell played great off the bench, Yi was fantastic. Mo and Bogut were lackluster and had foul trouble all game. The most impressive thing about the win was the defence the team played. It's been a few years since a Bucks team has played D like that.
Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:56 pm
That game was terrible, for both teams.
