If the Kings are winning Tyreke has the chance to make it.

The All-Star game is in two weeks. Three weeks when the Starters were announced. Same as every season.

The coaches LOVE representation. Anthony was already there from the Knicks and someone had to be there from the Pacers. Granger would have split his votes with Pierce/Johnson/Deng/Bosh/Daye/etc.
Deng's on the roster because the Bulls needed two guys.
Dirk's there because we need a Mav, there aren't any forwards who score more PPG in the West and he got a ring bump over Gay.
Nash and Deron are there because the coaches ran out of guards to think of. And there's no way in hell they're putting Monta on the team.
And nobody from Denver is there because nobody knows who is on the team and they're not an actual good team if they don't have any players someone recognizes.
Look at the top 20 PPG scorers and look at the reserves. Al Jefferson got snubbed for Gasol because the Jazz didn't make the playoffs last year and thus are not an actual winning team. (Plus 15/10 = DOUBLE DOUBLE unlike 19/9 which = NON-STAR. Same thing for Lowry. 14.5/5.5/8 < 15/10.)

You thought Kyle Lowry deserved to make it over Steve Nash? I'm not sure I even know you any more.
You're being facetious, right? You'd know that Marc Gasol has been way more valuable than Al Jeff (second best player on Utah) this season.

Uh oh. benji's sober again.

Millsap is the best player in Utah?

Yes, he is. But it's actually a lot closer than I thought this season. Jefferson has been playing quite well. Still, Millsap seems more efficient in many categories.

People up above and elsewhere were discussing Lowry's "snub" and I was adding him as an example to my Jefferson point.
The Jefferson point was related to how the list of Top 20 PPG scorers is basically the All-Star team rosters with Jefferson as an exception and why.

Gotcha.

Why did Joe Johnson make it over Josh Smith?
Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:49 am
Better offense.
Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:47 am
Have you seen Josh Smith's numbers? Joe Johnson is not even far ahead of Josh in ppg avg and in assists they average around the same. Josh also contributes a lot more on the defensive end and is averaging a little over 2 blks per game and is very close to averaging a double-double. Josh Smith is the more efficient player of the two.
Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:33 am
Josh Smith does suck on offense really. Does anyone really believe he truly belong to All Stars.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he sucks offensively. His stats aren't the best, but he's not completely incompetent offensively or unable to score.
Mon Feb 20, 2012 11:21 am
Just was pointing out his offensive efficiency suffers bit too much. And I actually agree him being better than JJ but not by much and insignificantly. And he plays same position as Deng and Pierce. No competition there despite his D, as the others were clearly the better.
Mon Feb 20, 2012 1:34 pm
He might not be the best offensively but you cant argue with his numbers. He has carried the Hawks in a lot of their games this year. Including that recent victory over the Suns where he got 30 pts, 17 rebs , 7 asts, 4 steals, and 3 blks. He is very active on the floor. Plus he'd be more entertaining to watch than Joe Johnson. Who seriously goes to an all-star game to see Joe Johnson? Really? I would've liked to see Rondo in there too but his injuries probably kept him from making it. Oh well at least Deng made it.
Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:28 pm
Besides, there's no rule that an All-Star has to be an outstanding and efficient offensive player. Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace were All-Stars and Smith is a better scorer than either of them. He would've been a fair selection by the coaches had he got the nod.
Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:33 am
I'd have taken Josh over Deng, but would also take Noah, Chandler, Irving or Ryan Anderson over either of them.

I don't think I'd take any of those players besides Kyrie Irving you just named over Josh or Deng. Of course I'm a Noah fan but I wouldn't say he's having an all-star kind of year. He probably should've have been in their last year.

It was announced Joe Johnson won't make it to the All Star game due to a knee injury, Rondo was selected to take his place.
Thu Feb 23, 2012 9:50 am
Fair replacement, though Tyson Chandler would've been a good choice too.
