I agree. Those warmup dunks are actually pretty damn good too. He made them look so easy while it would take some people who have entered the dunk contest a few tries before they successfully throw one down.
And as much as I like Budinger's jumping and dunking ability, I don't think he will be able to put up a good fight if he's in the contest. In my opinion he's an in-game dunker.
Budinger won high school All-American Dunk Contest half a decade or so ago. He's a former All-American high school volleyball player so he's got hops.

I haven't met a volleyball player that can't. I remember a 5'3" basketballer who played volleyball & he could get up & dunk. Maybe I should've played volleyball to improve my hops, I just hated the sport

Yup, they can jump.

best part at 0.56

I know he can dunk well and jump well, but I don't think he's got enough moves in his arsenal to compete with other good dunkers.

Joining Griffin will be Washington Wizards 7-foot centerJaVale McGee, Oklahoma City Thunder 6-10 forward Serge Ibaka and Milwaukee Bucks 6-1 guard Brandon Jennings, sources said.
If you ask me, Griffin is the winner, no doubt in my mind, but I fear it will end up like last year's contest. And D-League's will be better.

What? Brandon Jennings?
Thu Jan 06, 2011 12:03 am
I wonder if the organizers intended all (but one) of the participants to be bigs just so Nate Robinson couldn't be allowed to participate since Jennings is already the token 'little man' in the group.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 12:10 am
Jennings, that's great. But in terms of PG dunkers, I'd rather see Rose, Westbrook or Wall.

on the local channel they were interviewing Nate last night asking if he was doing to do the DC this year. He said something along the lines that he wants to but next week he'll ask his twitter peeps and if they want him in he'll do it again. oops
ok so Jennings, after seeing him in the NBA Elite trailer doing this
dunk I did some searching and this is the
best dunk I've seen Jennings throw down. He'll probably jump over someone crouching or do gimmicky alleyoop, hopefully he doesnt make the 2nd round.
Ibaka should provide some power, but I'm not expecting him to do anything amazing.
McGee is going to be the next Dwight Howard in the DC. He'll probably redo the sticker dunk, he's definitely doing a free throw line dunk. I really hope we get to see 4 dunks from him since everyone saves their good stuff for the 2nd round.
VC 360 Windmill,
Classic MJBlake's an automatic win, especially with fan voting. Ill put money on a 540 and a
double honey dip. He's got a lot of hype going into this, hopefully he doesnt "Shannon Brown" it.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:54 am
I just hope Blake doesn't do something stupid and hurt himself.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:09 am
McGee is already expected to cover the stupid part.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:29 am
TFB posted a blog with a few videos for Jennings and McGee
http://teamflightclub.com/profiles/blog ... share_postand of course links to the "real" dunk contest that will happen that weekend

i'll take jennings over nate any day. im so sick of that guy
Thu Jan 06, 2011 7:56 am
Jennings is kind of an odd selection, since he's currently out with a broken foot. Not a terrible field I guess but I too am expecting Griffin to win it in a landslide. The news that fan voting isn't going anywhere is disappointing though; seriously, what's the point of having judges or the final round when the polls open at the end of the first round and the judges take five? I know the dunk contest is just for fun, but that doesn't mean it can't have a sensible format.

did I hear good?brandon jennings for slam dunk contest

Griffin will win
Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:19 am
Can't wait for Epic Vale to miss some 3pt line dunks.
Interesting field this season. Lots of bigs, then a baffling choice in Jennings. Have a feeling that if healthy, my money is actually on Baddy though.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:21 am
Is there a coach in the past dunk contest?
Thu Jan 06, 2011 12:54 pm
No coaches.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 4:33 pm
lebron is scared
and the 2010 dunk contest sucked!
i hope blake griffin has better ideas than sucking
Thu Jan 06, 2011 4:39 pm
well Ibaka was also a questionable choice. i haven't seen him do anything more than strong 2 handed dunks in games. check out the dunk thread for why deandre jordan should have been picked
Thu Jan 06, 2011 4:41 pm
These are the only four players with the ability to dunk who were actually willing to participate. Obviously Epic Vale/Ibaka and Jennings wouldn't have been chosen over Westbrook and LeBron.
Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:30 pm
i think its griffin for sure. Why nate is not included.he is the defending Champion so he has to defend it right?
Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:35 pm
Jennings

My man Ibaka is in! Westbrook deserve it more though. Griffin is my bet of course
