Not sure I've seen Dorell at PF. I have seen him guarding 2's and 3's though.

Golden State's new owner could be chosen as soon as today

If the Dubs get sold to a Texas-based Wall Street tycoon or Mandalay Entertainment bazillionaire outside of Cali? i will officially become a Laker fanboi. No, i can't go there... make that a Kings fanboi since their home games are logistically closer and they don't turn my stomach

Should've sold the Warriors on Ebay.

Sorry man. I was really rooting for Larry Ellison to get it. That would've been awesome.

me too... but can't be all bad; Lacob is/was a minority partner with the Celtics (he'll need to sell off now) so he's familiar w/the process

http://www.contracostatimes.com/warriors/ci_15523897
Lacob joined the Boston Celtics ownership group, prompting Celtics managing partner H. Irving Grousbeck to state: "He has a passion for sports and a distinguished record of success in business, and I know he will be an excellent partner." FYI: The Celtics won the NBA championship in 2008, and they were this year's runners-up to the Lakers.

the official annoucement sounds sexy and at least Cohan the Destroyer is gone

“I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to be the next steward of this storied NBA franchise. This is my dream come true,” said Joe Lacob, managing partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. “Peter and I intend to do what we do best– innovating and building. It is our passion to return the Warriors to greatness and build nothing short of a championship organization that will make all of us in the Bay Area proud.”

“I look forward and appreciate the opportunity to help make the future of the Golden State Warriors franchise become an even greater story to tell,” said Peter Guber, Mandalay Entertainment Group Chairman.

No way!

Meanwhile, he's got Bill Simmons' vote of confidence:

GSW fans, you're in good hands with Joe Lacob. My Celtic peeps say he's a great guy + a huge NBA fan. And wants to win. Give him a chance.

Just like Cohan to NOT give fans what they want one final time :? good F'n riddance

http://www.contracostatimes.com/warriors/ci_15524880
"Although I was the highest bidder, Chris Cohan decided to sell to someone else," Ellison said in a statement released by a spokeswoman at his company, Oracle. "In my experience, this is a bit unusual."

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

None of the parties would comment on specifics of the bidding. But sports consultant Sal Galatioto, who represented Cohan in the negotiations, said Ellison's final bid came too late. Interviewed on the sports radio station KNBR, Galatioto said Ellison's offer may have been "slightly higher" but it came after Galatioto had already negotiated a detailed agreement with Lacob.

"I was in contact with Larry's people throughout. They had ample opportunity to bid, they knew the deadlines," Galatioto said.

Financial experts said it's also possible the two competing offers were structured in different ways. Stanford sports economist Roger Noll said Lacob's group may have offered terms that were more attractive to Cohan, whose complicated finances, including scrapes with tax authorities, are widely believed to have factored in his decision to sell the team. Cohan bought the Warriors in 1995 for $119 million.

"Usually a very big factor driving the structure of a deal is the tax implications for both parties," said Noll, who noted that the announcement did not specify whether the $450 million will be paid in cash upfront or whether some of it will be paid over time.

Well, the bright side to all this, is that rebuilding teams are great for dynasty stories. Fooking Blazers and their championship contending roster.

Also, I thought Oden's crazy injury, but Brandan Wrong is just ridiculous

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

Fri Jul 16, 2010 6:34 pm

actually i like the Blazers as a dynasty story a lot; they're just a few pieces from being able to challenge LA for the throne, Roy can make a push for the premiere SG out west taking the title from Kobe, young potential rivalries can form in NO, SAC, OKC etc., plus you don't have to extreme makeover the whole show and end up with a team that looks nothing like their RL counterparts. surprised more Blazers D & As aren't up and running actually (excluding ones that bring in a toxin like Arenas and end up in the trash bin weeks later :P )

Wright? omfg... are you serious? :x i don't see why we didn't throw his fragile, toothpick-self in with the Lee trade for an extra $50 bucks

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

I've considered using Portland, and tried a couple offline dynasties. Problem is that they are a healthy Oden away from being a 60 win team. Playing GM is half the fun, and with Portland, you'd just be standing pat. The 2007 Blazers were a great dynasty team. My Blazers association wasn't very good, but there was a lot of potential there.

Wright couldn't be a less reliable back-up. Its a good thing you guys have Ud-oh wait...

Still prefer the previous design.

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

Lame color scheme. I thought they were going for yellow as the main color. With the exception of the side design of the shorts, nothing special with the new jersey. Remove the jersey logo and it's crap like the Thunder jersey.

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

Wed Aug 18, 2010 1:40 pm

Keep it there and it's not much better.

I actually like it a lot. Interested to see the home jerseys.

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

If the glimpse we got a couple of months ago is anything to go by, they'll basically be the same except with the white and blue switched around.

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:06 pm

Out of all the teams going retro this year, I think that the Warriors have the best logo and jersey.

The main thing about this jersey is the new colors and the logo, the focal point of this jersey is the logo and you can see they had that in mind when they designed the shorts by having the bridge design on the sides. (Y)

@shadowgrin, I'm actually happy they won't have yellow for home, it's screams Lakers too much... won't mind a yellow alt. jersey though..

Re: Golden State Warriors Thread

Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:55 am

I want their away jersey to be yellow. Home, white.
That's why I liked the design on the shorts, it goes with the the bridge theme/logo.
Like I said before, other than the short design and the logo the jersey's lame.
