It turns out you were right.

I don't think the test has started yet for the Celtics. The Heat I think has the most predictable patterns of plays in the entire NBA. What each player can do is so limited, and in the playoffs time when the two teams get extremely farmiliar with each other, the Heat can be easily overmatched by any playoffs team. The key I thought was O'neal but he obviously wasn't enough to give Boston enough trouble inside. It's not like Boston did a superb job inside the paint, but were just their usual self, being able to abuse good enough against weaker frontcourt of the Heat. On the perimeter, Ray and Rondo did an awesome job against noobs like Chalmers and others. Just a match up problem all over the court. I do agree the Celtics were impressive at times, but I do like to see them doing that to tougher teams.

It was a great Game again, but now is time to Sweep it

The only way the Heat would win if Jermaine O'neal and Richardson reverted back to the 04-05 O'neal and Richardson. Not even 06 Wade could help them own his own. They are better off with the current Wade.

Fixed.

The Heat Are Finished

With Celtics leading 3-0, my vote of a five game victory of the Celtics was pretty optimistic for the Heat :(

Seen that last play in Game 3. Damn. Wade being out surely makes them pay.

:) Agreed.

Stopped watching after 3rd quarter, but it seems Wade avoided the sweep somehow. I'm not expecting a miracle realistically, but hoping to see one in this series.

Jermaine O'Neal going old skool with the 60's.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

We missed out on the Nets breaking a record for futility, so the least O'Neal can do would be to drop below that mark in the remaining game(s). He's at 17.7% after Game 4.

Why is this guy so bad? 17% for a big man ... oh my ...

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Mon Apr 26, 2010 5:59 pm

It's called taking 70% of your shots as jumpers, which he's done for like a decade now.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Mon Apr 26, 2010 6:03 pm

Yeah, but he still could at least hit 30% of them ^^

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Mon Apr 26, 2010 6:10 pm

Well, he peaked at 39% before this year.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

I had high hopes on JO before this series, since he seemed to be rejuvenited. But it was just sad to see Perkins and Big Davis pushing him around and toying with him.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Jermaine isn't really known for strength, even in his prime. Why do you think he takes 70% of his jumpers for like a decade now?

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Tue Apr 27, 2010 3:40 am

Still he was a force down low and he had some great moves that made him a superstar. Now, all that is gone, I guess it's all Wade once again.

Wade I think has been holding it back a bit, since the teammates played great near the end of the season, and the team looked real hot, Now, he knows he can't really rely on the teammates, I think we might be able to see Wade going at it real hard in next game as well.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Tue Apr 27, 2010 5:13 am

He was a monster down low defensively but offensively, eh.
He relied more on his quickness and athleticism for offense rather than have "great moves". Coupled with his jump shooting, that opened up things for him whether his defenders would sag off him and make them pay with a jump shot or play him tightly and make them pay with his agility down low. The only "great move" I remember Jermaine having is that (semi/baby?) hook shot that he can use because he's ambidextrous but it's not as effective as say the hook shot of Andrew Bynum.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Tue Apr 27, 2010 5:32 am

By "great moves", I meant him generating on offense using his quickness and athleticism. I know he wasn't the strength guy, but he wasn't afraid to make body contacts either. He couldn't have been 20+ ppg avg guy without great skills on offense, unless he was a freak of nature like Shaq.

Fixed.

If we only consider the big men in that list, 04-05 can be ignored (Brawl, suspension). Only 3 players are above him (JO's at #43). Shaq, Yao, and Zach Randolph. No need to explain Zach (lol), Shaq is a freak (so you feed him the ball damn it!) and both him and Yao have a higher ORtg that Jermaine.
Even the guys that are close (below #43) to him in usage like Duncan, Dirk, and Amare have a significantly higher ORtg than Jermaine.

Re: (4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Tue Apr 27, 2010 6:21 am

Yeah, JO really sucks this series. In game #4, when he caught the ball, he tried to do some move, but always passed it away, even if he was under the hoop. Just go up and dunk it or go the line.

You make it sound as if Shaq wasn't skilled? Just a freak of nature.

Ok. This is it. Expect Wade to attack the basket hard on every possession. Either he wins it for the Heat or loses for the Heat. I think the Celtics will come out prepared though. We'll see...
