Nice win for the Lakers. They got away with this one, they should play better the next game.

Too good for the Lakers that JR Smith is not playing well, he made some huge 3s though. If Carmelo Anthony continues to play the type of game that he showed this time, the Lakers are in deep trouble. But the steal of Trevor Ariza is the play of the night.

That game was Denver's to lose, and that they did, by missing 11 free throws and playing poorly down the stretch. Jackson coached teams are 42-0 when winning game 1, but while I still think the Nuggets are very capable of taking the series, I'm expecting this heartbreaking loss to kill them and for the Lakers to cruise in Game 2.

What a game. But there were tons of wrong calls. Hats off to Ariza for reading the play. I'm still wondering though why Karl tasked Carter to inbound the ball.

Why did George Karl picked A.C. as the inbounder !?
Odom was all over him on that play . Should've called a time-out and changed the strategy .
And that K-Mart foul that sent Kobe on the FT line , that was a bad foul .
J.R. didn't play well ( fluked out ) , and Kobe's knee nearly striked again .
I think that was intentional but you'll never know .
Overall , Lakers were just lucky .

props to trevor ariza and fisher both played better in the 2nd half but im going for the nuggets in this series just because im sick of seeing the lakers reach the finals . Carmellooo should get his taste of finals exp! both Wade and Lebron got theirs. I think the nuggets will take this series in seven, but this game 1 had some nice blocks specially the second one k mart did to kobe, he was like wtf goaltending?!?! priceless...but he still managed to smoke the game and drop 40 *sigh*. Dont you guys think karl should increase chris anderson's playing time? specially when the lakers have bynum and gasol on the floor

Dude it's getting old with the Bynum comments. Just because he isn't scoring, doesn't mean he isn't a factor... His length will always affect shots, even if he doesn't get a block and then there's obviously the offensive rebounds. Bynum's offensive rebounds are huge for LA and LA had 17 offensive boards in that game...

I feel sorry for Melo after that one, he played a hell of a game but all the missed free throws came back to haunt the Nuggets and the bad pass/great steal made it a heartbreaker when the game was still very much up for grabs even with the Lakers leading by two. Fun game to watch though, I for one certainly wouldn't be opposed to the series going to seven.

Good game by both teams, some very questionable calls and non-calls, but it's a physical ball game. I just hope they stay consistent and not revert to calling every other touch foul on the next games and go back and fourth.

Gasol and Odom need to be what they are, star players and not just guys watching Kobe play. Great battle between Bryant and Carmelo, very entertaining first game despite the officiating.

Seems like I missed all the fun.

Anyway, the Nuggets almost pulled this one off, I'm not rooting for any team in spectacular but it's always fun to see the underdog beats the better team especially at their homecourt. Too bad that didn't happen, but anyway, the team who plays better win.

Let's hope the rest of the games in this series will be as competitive as this game if not more.
