I knew there was a reason i had a massive man crush on Derrick Rose
Missed seeing the game, but caught the highlights, and the man was just plain beasting.

Unfortunately, I think i have to agree with Modifly, and say Boston will bounce back.. But of course as a Bulls fan, im hoping thats not the case.

Also, wondering where Dan is at, especially after Noah's impressive game? Lol

I really want the Bulls to take this series as well but unfortunately it's unlikely to happen. Hopefully it will be a competitive, fun series with no blowout by the Celtics. If there are going to be any blowout, let it be by the Bulls.

Haha, yeah thats it, come on Bulls sweep!

Im still hoping that ESPN show at least one game of this series, but they have the Cavs game on Tuesday, and the online guide for Austar wont let me see further.. Oh well, i guess if Rose has another game one-esque performance ill just grab it on torrent like im about to do..

noah block and dunk

yep i agree with you on the one that forced OT. watching it live- from the angle the play was broadcasted- it looked like a foul. however the comcast broadcast replayed it in several angles- the block was clean and there was no hint of noah's body hitting pierce's (which supposedly why the foul was called)

even on the 2nd to last play of the game (in OT)- Pierce got another one gift wrapped to him. in his drive to the basket, he just threw it out of bounds... no one touched it. whatever- sad to say- it's classic home team calls and bennet salvatore sure looked like he picked the celtics on the money line

i see the celts coming out strong in game 2, especially Paul Pierce. they will try to get ray allen going too. i think the key here (and to the series) is the Bulls controlling the pace & tyrus thomas jump shot (aka nlsc fantasy bball champs). as long as the bulls get the boards, they are going to run and get easy baskets. the celts looked gassed- especially Ray Allen in the 2nd half. and as long as thomas can hit some jump shots, the boston zone & traps on the bulls and pick n roll will be useless

Where am i at? Where have you been at? Haven't seen you around here for ages.

Anyways, I was away for most of the weekend, and therefore, unfortunately missed the game, I caught the highlights as well, and spooged a little. I use a lot of commas. It's probably not correct.

Noah did play very well, also in his playoff debut. His ability to get to the boards was probably enhanced by KG's absence, but he's a big game player, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him continue to play with that kind of intensity throughout the rest of the series and, Science willing, beyond that. I do still very much have a "love/occasionally get annoyed with" relationship with Joakim Noah, but he's gone a long way towards winning me over in the second part of this season. I'll probably change my username in the offseason again, either to coincide with the Bulls no. 16 pick or something else. Not hugely relevant right now, though.

Also greatly enjoyed Tyrus Thomas' game. Wasn't as big as some of his other games this year. But he kept his head and played within himself, I was half expecting him to get somewhat taken away by the intensity of the game and hoist up some ill-advised shots, but cooler heads prevailed, which is nice.

Yeah i am looking at a comeback lol.. Been working a fair bit lately, so ive just been reading and not posting when i get a chance..
Works quieting down though, so looks like ill have a chance to post a bit, which coincides well with the playoffs (Y)

Speaking of the number 16, anyone in your mind you think we should take?

Looks like the loss hurt Kendrick Perkins' pride a bit so he's lashing out. (Source)

If words could stop Derrick Rose, the Celtics would be doing better in the playoffs.

“Everybody has their night,” Boston center Kendrick Perkins said Sunday. “I know it won’t happen again. He’ll never have another game like that against us.”

“It wasn’t anything that they did” Perkins said. “It was all on us.”

“You’ve got to be angry. It’s the playoffs and we were at home,” Perkins said. “I’m going to be mad all the way up until (Monday), until after we get the win.”

They probably will win Game 2 and do so convincingly, but on the off-chance that they don't, we Bulls fans will have to be sure to point and laugh. In any event, seems like the classy thing to do would've been to give credit where credit is due as far as Rose's performance but that's probably expecting a little much from Perkins. I suppose you can afford to talk win you win 60+...and have Pierce and Allen to stand behind.

Really not a big fan of Perkins.. Everytime i see him he is whinging about something or pulling a dirty move..
Whats the odds Rose comes out firing and lights them up again? :P

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Mon Apr 20, 2009 10:10 pm

We can only hope.

Yes, I too have been unimpressed having seen a bit more of Perkins the last couple of years. He's a solid centre - I'm certainly not taking that away from him - but he's got a penchant for dirty plays and in particular rather cowardly ones, shoving from behind and the like.

To be honest, I'd rather see the pick be used in a trade for Bosh or Amare or Dwight Howard or Dwyane Wade or LeBron James. Trade the pick for one or all of those guys straight up and that'll be fine.

On the off chance that doesn't happen, then I wouldnt mind seeing someone like DeJuan Blair get drafted by the Bulls or someone with a more consistent outside shot like Stephen Curry, although he's potentially got the same liabilities that Ben Gordon has. Blair is my first gettable preference at the 16, if Blake Griffin is unavailable. Also cool would be Chase Budinger, but I dont see him slipping.

Will be good to see you back though.

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Mon Apr 20, 2009 11:51 pm

I really dont know why, but for some reason i just dont want Chris Bosh :?

Although he will definately improve the team, no doubt, i guess id just rather see more of a true post player.. But outside of Dwight theyre arent many of those, and i think he would be fairly untouchable..

All signs point to Amare staying in Phoenix too, with Kerr saying he wont blow up the team, and Amare himself saying he wants to stay..
Carlos Boozer could be obtainable however, but he is a massive douche lol.

Ed: Im also a massive Steph Curry fan, but like you say, i imagine he'd be a Ben Gordon lite.. Were we to move Gordon for a big man however..

This is why I dont like the C's. Since they acquired Allen and Garnett Pierce has been acting like he's so tough, trash talking every here and there. To make matter worse, Perkins also think he's hard because they have the "big three" on the team. I've never like Perkins, he acts like he's a superstar and always whine when he's not getting a call.

I hate it so much when he put on this kind of "I should get a foul" face:

Image

I think he shouldn't even have come out and talk about Rose. A lost is a lost and if he wants to be mad then he should be mad at himself and his team for playing shitty. Perk's been in this league for like 5 years and he couldn't even managed to average in double figures so he have no right whatsoever to talk trash about Rose where he's only a rookie and playing in his first playoff game. It's best if he keeps his big mouth shut, if he wants to open them then at least give credits where it is dued and not criticise what's not true. What he said just made him look stupid (and I'm not saying he is smart) and now he should change his name to Kendrick Jerkins until he realises that he's one.

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Tue Apr 21, 2009 1:39 am

Haha, point taken Modifly. Since the Celtics formed again their "Big 3" with the acquisition of Allen and Pierce they always act that they shouldn't get a foul or they should go to the charity stripe or they should win all 82 games. About the reaction of Perkins, he shouldn't act like that because he's not their star player, not their go-to-guy and definitely NOT their franchise's future. If they lose, they lose. In every game, there's a winner and a loser. They should accept defeat and just continue playing. Another, Perk shouldn't blame D-Rose of their loss because Rose did what he had to do, to give the Bulls a win. There's still 6 games in this series so they could prove that they're the defending champs.  (Y) (Y)

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Damn, Chicago lost, but the game was a success in the sense that most people expected a Boston blowout and they ended up just barely squeaking out a home win thanks to a Ray Allen 3. Ben Gordon was awesome and I regret saying that Hughes and Sefolosha were better. :P

Chicago was 28-13 at home and Boston was 27-14 on the road this season, so I'm going to guess that the two games in Chicago are split, then Boston wins the series in 7, earning the right to lose in 5 or 6 to the Magic.

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:22 pm

Or earning the right to win in 6 or 7 against the Sixers.

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

What a huge night by Gordon. Very impressive.

Celtics allowing 115 points to be scored in regulation? They really need KG back soon for the next series. It seems he's delaying the surgery in the hopes of his injury getting better to a stage where he can play.

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:54 pm

The Celtics are still to be feared though, especially with Ray Allen sinking that 3. The last thing the Bulls want is to let Allen find his stroke in this series. If he gets it going, daaamn.

This series looks like it is going to go 7 and be very fun to watch.

Will Stephon Marbury step up?

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Stephon Marbury will be the X-Factor

... for the Bulls

Re: (2) Celtics Vs. (7) Bulls

Tue Apr 21, 2009 2:06 pm

Damn that was so close. What a game but what a terrible defense by the Celtics too. I so hope the Bulls would win, and hell they almost did. :( This series resembles a lot of last year's series between the Celtics and the Hawks. Very competitve and fun to watch. The Celtics must feel a little bit scared now to say the least, the Bulls have managed to stay in the game and almost beat them at home for two straight games now. If they dont make adjustments they'll find it hard to beat the Bulls.

:applaud:

Once again, i didnt actually get to watch the game, so im going off box scores and recaps like Game 1..

However, after todays game, i really wouldnt be surprised if we came out and won this series.. If Rose or Thomas had even a little better performance, we could have taken this game.. We are at home for 2 games now, so if we can at least hold our own, we would be in a pretty good spot for an upset, which before game one, i would have been dreaming if i said that..

Rose had a very quiet game, but 7 rebounds and 7 assists is still good.. Tyrus (according to the box score) was a beast on defence, 6 blocks?

When we lose by 3 points to a team that was supposed to destroy us, there isnt really much you can complain about.. So ill point out that i am very very pissed that we let Big Baby of all people, go for 26 points.. I suppose its better it was Big Baby, as opposed to Kendrick, but still lol.. Kinda makes me wanna go and select "Big Baby is fat" in the poll
