Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:14 am

Yeah I kind of panicked when I saw I was up and because its the first draft I've done I wasn't too sure on what to do  the rest of my picks aren't too good either but I put that down to my low knowledge of the NBA :| ah well its all fun and you never know what might happen, I might, if i'm lucky, not finish last

Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:56 am

sorry but the draft is over.

well im satisfied with nash and hopefully this team can do some good stuff.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 10:29 am

GRR slept thru the draft, Brand + Odom + Hinrich arent bad but the rest are shit

Sun Oct 08, 2006 10:33 am

i dont think anyones team is worse than mine....watsup with Etan Thomas, why does he say NA next to his name??

Sun Oct 08, 2006 10:50 am

NA means he's not playing for some reason ... usually if a player retires. I don't know why it says it for him specifically, though.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 11:33 am

I probably had the best draft. Until I was forced to draft swingmen.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 11:37 am

Jugs, you're not even top 5. Air Gordon, Jae and Cwebb probably had the best drafts.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 1:01 pm

Darn, completely forgot about the draft and slept through it. My team is alright though with Ray Allen, AK47, Caron Butler, and Caveman Caman.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:45 pm

Jugs is by far the worst live draft participant in the history of fantasy basketball.

Anyways this is how I saw the first 3 picks of the draft... not that I paid much attention to it because Jugs wouldn't shut up and pretty much ruined the whole thing

#1 pick: Love For The Glove
Started off strongly, taking LeBron with the #1 pick but had a complete mental breakdown soon after, taking Brandon Roy in the 2nd round. No one would've touched him for ages, and there were still players like Terry, Hinrich, Davis and Parker left on the board. Followed that pick up with the equally mind boggling selection of Zydrunas Ilgauskas in the 3rd, taking him over Shaquille O'Neal and Ben Wallace. Made a couple of questionable picks after that (taking Desmond Mason when Mobley, Childress, Devin Harris and Michael Finley were still around) but might've found a steal in Anthony Parker.

#2 pick: Patrick Batemans
The fantasy God  made the smart choice with Kobe at number two overall, once and for all proving his undying love to the adulterer. Ron Artest in the 2nd round was a bit of a stretch considering his horrific shooting last season, but Ben Wallace, Corey Maggette, Larry Hughes and Thabo Sefolosha late late on were all solid picks. Has a solid line-up, though Steve Francis and Kendrick Perkins are pretty massive question marks. If Perkins gets minutes he'll be a steal, but god only knows what to make of Francis.

#3 pick: The Underdogs
Caused a collective "LMAO" by selecting Amare Stoudemire at 3rd overall. No idea what you were thinking, but I guess you're almost guaranteed a 18/8 player at least... still not the kind of thing you'd want with the 3rd pick. Made an alright pick in the second with Mike Bibby and a solid third round choice in Shaquille O'Neal. A few more solid picks followed but lost the plot in the 7th round onwards, picking Raef LaFrentz, Gary Payton, Dikembe Mutombo and James White. Ouch.

Team rankings (IMO)

1: Phoenix Peaches
2: Reign
3: ohohoho
4: Godzilla Meets Japan
5: Patrick Batemans
6: Grin's Shadows
7: cwebbiverson
8: The Underdogs
9: z stars
10: Anthony15
11: Toasters
12: Titans
13: Love For The Glove
14: Sam
15: All-Out-Canadian
16: Juggernaughts bitch!
17: Doobie
18: Gangstas
19: Funk's Boys
20: Mad Skillz

Mad Skillz gets the vote for worst smack talk effort:

I'm the best. How's that for some smack talk?

Edit: I just saw the trade, Randolph for Iguodala? Anyone else see this as a bit lopsided?

Sun Oct 08, 2006 3:50 pm

Whoa yea. I really have a shit team haha.

Sun Oct 08, 2006 5:30 pm

in response to Jae's analysis of my team, I have to admit I gambled with a lot of my picks... depending on a rook with the 2nd pick... hoping that Parker, Mase & Pietrus have breakout years like I tihnk they will...
other than that, my picks are pretty consistent fantasy players in my opinion. So I think my team could go either way... either in the top 6 or in the bottom 6. :?

here's my rankings on the teams from a fantasy perspective (I'm going by depth and strength of players in the top 10 spots):

1. Phoenix Peaches- His team is stacked with fantasy-friendly players that I like to draft in fantasy NBA. G Wallace, Josh Howard, KG, Lewis, Frye, Kenny THomas, are all guys that fill up the stat sheet.
2. Juggernauts bitch!- a SOLID frontcourt, due to his first 4 picks of PF/Cs  but questionable due to his multiple Blazer picks. He made up for it with good guard picks like Speedy, Smush, & Stack.
3. THe Gangstas- a solid balanced team with perhaps it's weakest link at C with Elson, depending on his PT this year. Otherwise, with Foye at the Util spot :!: and James Jones off the bench, things are looking up for this team.
4. Godzilla Meets Japan- with 5 or 6 strong fantasy players on the team, all eyes lead to the unknowns on the team. Will Davis get PT in Detroit? how will the rooks hold up? Despite the questions, this is definitely a playoff contending team.
5. ohohoho(Matthew's a pimp, he's got a lot of hos)- again, another balanced team with the only weak spot at C. Kwame could quite possibly become Kwame again, but will Gadzuric work hard enough to earn himself PT over Bogut & Villanueva?
6. Anthony15- the superstars on this team have a consistent supporting cast to back them up.
7. Love For The Glove- explanations for the drafting above. ths team has a decent backcourt but what will make or break this team is the productivity and effectiveness of the versatile frontcourt (especially at the C spot)
8. Doobie- with Wade and Brad Miller anchoring the team, Doobie needs MArbury and Randolph to stop screwing up and just play good ball like they can.
9. cwebbiverson- could be a lot higher with a better supporting cast. great fantasy players in Diaw, Nash, WEst, Webber(if healthy), Mourning, but the others might not help out enough. Plus, Diop it like it's hot
10. Patrick Batemans- Great fantasy players lke Kobe, Artest, and MAggette make this a great team, but the question marks on this team bring it down. Francis, Martin, Daniels, Perkins, Hughes, Sweetney all have ot come up big for this team
11. Toasters- like many teams, could go either way depending on how the X-factors on the team play out the season
12. All-out-Canadian- with a few Raptors on hand and a number of players that fill up the stat sheet, definitely needs help in the C department.
13. The Underdogs- despite picking Amare THIRD  , his other picks were still pretty good. THe aging centers might wind up shitting on this team, or could push this team into the playoffs.
14. Funk's boys- a good team with a few good fantasy players like Marion but the unknowns on the team as well as an okay bench bring this team down
15. The Titans- a team with good fantasy players 1-5 or 6, but not too sure about having to rely on aging veterans.
16. Grin's Shadows- a good team from 1-5 or 6 as wel, but past that... yikes.
17. Reign- a glut of Cs (and unfortunately not many good ones besides Camby) make this team weak in depth at the guard spots. Need to move some bigs or hope PP and Gordon have huge years this year
18. Mad Skillz- with an injury prone AK, and Allen coming off his best season (which he most likely will not duplicate), things start heading south in the backcourt when you have to start Buckner.
19. Sam.- sorry Sam, but your team needs help. With CP3 at the helm, a Battier primed for a breakout year, and a decent C in Mehmet Okur, but an aging JKidd you have too many guys that could have very little fantasy impact this year.
20. z stars- Billups and Jermaine are bright spots among an injured Gasol, an NA for Thomas :?: , and plenty of players who don't receive enough PT to do anything worthwhile in the fantasy world... a trade or two could easily move this team up

edit: just saw the Iggy trade and at first I thought the guy getting Iggy is "ripping off" the guy getting RAndolph, but fearing getting raped by Matthew again, I thought it through and Randolph can be a solid rebounder/scorer when healthy. I don't mind this trade.

Shit, I thought I was ok because I thought Caron Butler could play guard. Fuck, I'm gonna suck.

I'm confused, can't my starting lineup be:

C-Kaman
PF-AK47
SF-Butler
SG-Allen
PG-Reefer
?
