Why are we talking about Darko, anyway? He's gone to the Magic now so why are we getting so overobsessed with him?

Thu Jun 07, 2007 8:03 pm

Delfino can ball......he's similar to Manu Ginobili in that both are active on the boards, both can drive (no joke, Delfino is the 'white Kobe' with some of the awesome dunks he pulls off), above average defender. Ideally he could improve his team defence, but when you watch him play he's just trunna stop his man so Saunders won't yank him to the bench.

He's a streaky shooter and that's why he shouldn't be playing as a spot up shooter. He needs the ball in his hands. He's deffinately got the skills to be a 15-20ppg scorer...and that's what he is, a SCORER, not a shooter.

I still think the problem is he knows he can do that, we know he can do that but he still hasn't impressed Flip Saunders enough to get himself Playing enough time to do that. Another issue is i can assure you this kid has a very long way to go before he takes Hamiltons spot at Starting SG so is the move to get rid of Billups let Delfino Slip into that spot and then trade away Billups cash as well as Davis/Nazr and pick up a top 5 pick where we could get one of these awesome big men.

Regarding Darko i'm sick to death of this arguement about this kid being a "superstar" he is a joke and most the things i am hearing make me sick

everyone knows if they kept darko he would be averaging about 29 ppg with 12 boards in only 30 minutes of play

WHAT!!! are you joking me do i have to look back to previous years stats to prove this kid is not capable of these numbers. I saw him playing this amount of time in Orlando and he pulled off stats which were far from this i will show you what i mean...

Wake up this kid was the wrong choice now we need to forget about what could've been and actually what will end up from getting rid of Darko will be cash that we got as well as this years 15th pick which could potentially be really good in what is a strong draft class (Y)

Thu Jun 07, 2007 8:23 pm

You're an idiot. I'm not even going to bother to explain why

Thu Jun 07, 2007 8:29 pm

Maybe it is some sort of Australian slang or something, but I did not have a clue what that meant.

Darko IS the Detriot Pistons. Always is and always will be.

It's strange how everybody but you can see that Darko had something special cooking before he left Detroit - you obviously don't know anything about basketball.
Darko had all the tools to be a dominant force for the Pistons. 29/12 is by no means an unrealistic prediction, and he even forgot to mention the 4+ blocks 1.5 steals and 6 assists Darko would have posted as well.
He is so being wasted in Orlando.

It's not that much slang, "Have a dip", "Rags" and "Buddy" are all slang but if you hear me talk near to every word i say is slang

On a more serious note

That's a bladent lie i don't live in America and i don't live in big Basketball nation but i have followed basketball all through my childhood, so i think you should tell me why from all the years he spent at Detroit why he hasn't showed anything. He has NEVER played a game where he looked like the best player, these are MVP numbers so are you prepared to tell me Darko will be a future MVP? (I don't think so)

As well as this, i shouldn't even be defending myself because Dark Milicic is yet to self handedly dominate a NBA game, also this is in the past not a present concern and you tell me he will have numbers of 29/12/6/4/1.5 thats to hard to conclude and i find it hard to believe considering all that i have previously said. Also you can't say i don't know anything about basketball because that is just stupid, It's my opinion and i'm entitled to it as well as the fact i am an extremely dedicated NBA fan. (Y)

great comeback mate is what i said too true so you have no answer?, i'm pretty sure your shutdown

Fri Jun 08, 2007 6:50 pm

I agree with 3PK (not the slang part, but the Milicic part). Milicic is nothing special, he impressed everyone in the workouts and Detroit took a chance by drafting him and it turned out to be a mistake. That's all. He's not a budding superstar, he's overrated. If he is what all of you other people say he is:

everyone knows if they kept darko he would be averaging about 29 ppg with 12 boards in only 30 minutes of play

then, why does Orlando play Dwight Howard in front of Darko?

Fri Jun 08, 2007 7:05 pm

It's a race thing

Finally someone agrees and he has hit the nail on the head (Y) , thats exactly what i was getting to if this guy is a "superstar" and 29/12/6 player why is he a "support player", and i ensure it's not a race thing Dwight Howard is a superstar where as Milicic is far from it, btw just my opinion we should get a back on topic it's the Official Detroit Pistons thread not the Darko Milicic Thread

Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:06 pm

HAHAHA, this thread is too funny!!!

Darko4MVP haterzz!!!!

^Fire Flop/Matt finally gets it. Darko is the best thing since sliced bread.

Seriously though. He was one of the bright spots in Orlando's sweep against Detriot. He was the only person who played consistently throughout those 4 games and he's shown that he compliments Dwight's game. I won't be suprised to see him get a fairly big contract extension.

...So he can flop again :D

No, I actually agree - I too think he'll end up being a pretty good player, maybe he'll even make an all-star team one day, but I do think the Magic has to be carefull not to overpay him.

Fri Jun 08, 2007 10:35 pm

I wouldn't be suprised if he did flop or get overpaid to be honest; I'm just speaking from a realistic perspective because the Magic really want this guy back.

Fri Jun 08, 2007 10:38 pm

I know 99% of the posts were joking about Darko, but I think he's garbage. Like barely average player type garbage. All I see in him is above average rebounding and shot blocking ability.

Fri Jun 08, 2007 11:32 pm

I agree with Shannon. Darko will never be an all-star caliber player.

Also, for all the people who were being sarcastic in their posts, you gotta do a better job of it. Up until about 6 or 7 posts ago, I had no idea who was joking and who wasn't. You can't really blame 3PK for not recognizing it either, it just wasn't good sarcasm at all.

I third that opinion Darko will definately never be a guy getting 29 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to go along with 4+ blocks Grusom this guy has yet to prove himself maybe he has a bit of a game but not an all star game by far.

Oh i kinda just realized they were joking, i honestly thought you were serious, well then i have something to say to Grusom, we arn't here to joke around and make sarcastic comments. This is a professional forum. Start taking a bit of Responsibility, by the way thanks for having my back Dan Suth (Y)

Sat Jun 09, 2007 5:48 pm

I'm not even going to comment on the fact that he says he gets the sarcasm, yet still refers to the Larry Bird with Bill Russels defence-stats I suggested Darko would put up...

DAMN, I just did.

On a serious note, since this is a "professional basketball forum, I will officially take back my statement that Darko would have been a HOF calliber player in Detroit. You were right all along 3PK, he most likely wouldn't. You are also right in your assumption that it's probably not "a race thing" that Darko splays behind Dwight Howard. You proved to have the superiour arguments and rhetorics in this debate, and I acknowledge that you had me "shutdown" becasue what you said was "so true I had no answer".

Sat Jun 09, 2007 9:09 pm

Darko could easily put up 29, 12 if he put his mind to it. The 6 assists and blocks would just appear like nothing.
I rekon, even if he was 6th man, and played 20min a game behind Battie, he would average at least 20, 8 with 3 blocks.

It is only because Larry Brown treated him like a little bitch that he sucks. It has nothing to do with his attitude or work ethic at all.

Why are we talking about Darko, anyway? He's gone to the Magic now so why are we getting so overobsessed with him?

Are. You. Fucking. Serious.

LMAO @ 3pk and Grusom. Grusom, you know why... 3pk, I'm sure you have no idea why

That was the whole point of my sarcasm, to provoke people idiotic enough to fall for it.

I still like Darko though. He can be average double double guy in Orlando with around 2 blocks a night, I just love blowing things out of proportion.

Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:40 am

Well Billups has opted out of his contract as planned. But today on PTI michael Wilbon said that he thinks Billups has a 30% chance of returning, and a 70% chance of leaving. I dont know about that. His main options would be Milwaukee, Memphis, and maybe Orlando. But those teams arent likely to compete with a team like the Pistons, at least not in the next year or two.

Wed Jun 27, 2007 12:31 am

I want Billups to go to Orlando.
Him and Dwight together, damn.
Fuck Jameer Nelson.
