you guys are stupid. (ppl dissing yao for being tall and cant block that many shots)

he played in asia his whole life except for the past 2-3 yrs. there are no kobes/amares in asia that he can practice blocking. in asia, all they have are ppl laying up n shit.

also, its not his fault that he's 7'6 and when ur in asia, at 7'6 HELL u dont need to ever jump.

geezus.. ppl talk a lot of shit about tall ppl not doing shit. well thats their advantage. thats y they dont have to jump!

if u think u can do better than yao, go ahead and try blocking those players that u mentioned.

also, i bet if u played professional ball, ppl shorter than u can probably block you or score on u. its basketball, u cant have all the height and athleticism (sp?) in the world.. even KG cant block every shot.

Lets take this foo out Jackal style.

Yes, and your problem is?

he played in asia his whole life except for the past 2-3 yrs. there are no kobes/amares in asia that he can practice blocking. in asia, all they have are ppl laying up n shit.

Tough break, so because he is not used to high flying people, does that mean he cant block shots? well...hes in the NBA now so he better adjust to it, and when he doesnt do that then I will just keep on making fun of him.
also, its not his fault that he's 7'6 and when ur in asia, at 7'6 HELL u dont need to ever jump.

He is in the NBA now, hes a 2 times All-Star so he better learn how to jump.
geezus.. ppl talk a lot of shit about tall ppl not doing shit. well thats their advantage. thats y they dont have to jump!

He has to jump, or else he gets even more nasty facials, but he has been jumping, but he forgot to block the shot.
if u think u can do better than yao, go ahead and try blocking those players that u mentioned.

HA....If I was 7-6 I would break the NBA record of all time blocks in 1 season.

also, i bet if u played professional ball, ppl shorter than u can probably block you or score on u. its basketball, u cant have all the height and athleticism (sp?) in the world.. even KG cant block every shot.

If I would be dunked on all the time people would make fun of me aswell....fair? no....funny? yes.

wow, this is what i've been waiting for. you show that little bitch.
as for getting posterized, its just another part of defense, ben wallace gets posterized, Z does, and so does Shaq (though most of the time those who are dunking gets knocked down in the process). Yao just gets postered more cause he goes for it more. Sometimes those posters are actually charges, and the refs just don't call it.

i appericate what yao is doing and laying his body (and dignity) out. still, i am wondering, whatever happened after yao shoved the little bitch?

this is wrong. if you were 7'6 you would be slow and have delayed reaction times. people would dunk in your face like they do his, unless of course you didnt try for the block.

on another note the nba record for blocks is lame. bill russel raped the current record but they didnt could blocks back then.

I think what Yao have to improve in priorities are:

1) strength
2) quickness
3) positioning
4) timing (on blocking, rebounding, etc)
5) aggressiveness

I am very happy that he is improving every year.

why I said "strength" is the first thing he needs to improve?
Because Asians are not as strong as Westerns,
and also not as explosive as Westerns.

To be honest, I appreciate his heart on playing basketball and appreciate his hard working to improve himself (mentally and physically).

I live in Hong Kong and watched several exhibition games few years before Yao joinning NBA.
He played VERY BAD and disappointed me & my friends a lot.
He used to messed up easy shots, easy dunks.

Wang & Bateer played better than him at that time.
But now it's changed. I think he is the best in China (or even in Asia).

Hope he plays better in the coming season.

Everything but quickness and timing can be achieved fairly easily to an extent. Quickness though is hard to do for someone his size, and in general, gaining quickness isn't easy, and timing is a hard thing to work on.

Yea if you actually got the minutes, and Yao has short arms, that's why he doesn't block as well as someone like Shawn Bradley.
