The fact that Steve Mills & Scott Perry are talking to Kenny Smith shows Knicks are still a Mickey Mouse organization, always looking to make a splash with a big name. What happened the last time they hired someone with no experience (Jackson, Fisher)? How about hiring a REAL coach?????
Steve Mills is an assclown, a James Dolan flunky. I wouldn't hire him to run a JV team.

Maybe they figure it worked out for the Warriors when they hired Steve Kerr. That's ignoring, of course, that Kerr had a lot more to work with.
Sun Apr 22, 2018 2:08 am
Kerr also had been a GM recently though. Speaking of which, remember, Phil wanted to hire Kerr to the Knicks, and after talking to the two front offices/ownership Kerr went with Golden State, and then Phil and Derek Fisher pulled their whole scam.
Now there's talk that they're trying to get in the Budenholzer race, but he's going to run from the Knicks like his hair is on fire, it's just to boost his salary with Phoenix probably.
Mark Jackson seems like the most obvious pick for a lot of reasons. Even if he may not be an ideal pick.

Better than bringing Isiah back, I suppose.

Isiah never left. He's still tight with Dolan.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

Poor David Fizdale. He doesn't know what he's in for, working for Brain-Dead Dolan and his garbage franchise.

Let's see if he makes it through the four years.

Wash, rinse, repeat.....
It'll be interesting to see how he & Porzingis relate. We still don't know what went down with Gasol.

So I read Kawhi himself thought was NOT healthy enough to return this season and his management team are pushing for a trade to a bigger market like the Knicks.
It'd be a nice experiment to pair Porzingis with Kawhi who is a legit superstar unlike Melo.

Knicks must have given Fizdale a big bag of money to coach the team considering he could have waited for the Blazers, Hawks, Thunder, Sun or Bucks job to be available.

Why do I get the feeling Knicks brass did this thinking they'll have a better shot at LeBron James?

how much do you think is enough to pass up on those opportunities? $3 mil per?
that would be some kind of fleece job on the spurs if nyk can keep porzningis/acquire leonard

Knicks pick Kevin Knox from Kentucky . He fills our glaring need at the 3. Chauncey Billups compared him to Tobias Harris - I'll sign for that.
Knicks fans in attendance wanted Michael Porter, but there are questions about his back. Last thing we need is another player with injury questions.
Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:45 am
With the way Porter fell down the board, it seems quite a few teams shared that concern.

Back problems are a huge red flag, Andrew, because they never get better. According to the NY Daily News, last week, a report surfaced that Porter was suffering from back spasms and a hip strain. Knicks made the safe, logical decision for once.

Indeed. I'm glad the Bulls passed on him as well.

There's a rumour that Dolan is looking to sell. While there's no guarantee new ownership would do all the right things, they surely couldn't be worse. It'd be one of the biggest and best things to happen for the Knicks in quite some time.

The update on
this article is far less promising. Those lyrics, though:
You know I own a basketball team
For most people that would be a dream
For a trust fund kid it’s a living hell
Always some ass hole telling me to sell.
Let's all shed some tears for the trust fund kid.

the knicks need to hire the best player development coaches money can buy to offset their management decisions. fizdale should help them coaching wise, but he won't be a miracle worker

The Mutombo trade is ranked a little high. They did get Jamal Crawford out of it, and Mutombo was past being a franchise centre at that point. #9 should've been #1. Also, a couple of those moves are much worse in hindsight, having been marred by misfortune. Plenty of them are headscratchers then and now, though.
