dei. wrote:They won't be relevant this year if Cuban/Donnie don't sign anyone that is at least decent. Every Mavs fans was know that this year will be finally the chance that the Mavs will land a big one in the FA because of breaking that championship team (also the new CBA happen so I guess that was also the factor) but what happen? That was plan A and there is no plan B. We let the last season pass hoping that we get Deron and it's sad and frustrating that it did not happen.
I'd say Plan B involves Dwight Howard and Chris Paul next year.

I don't want mind rebuilding as long as they get some interesting players that are exciting to watch but with the direction they are heading and Donnie record in the draft. It will be a long shot. Then hope the basketball gods reward the mavs with a franchise player to build around like the Balkman guy from the 80's and now Dirk.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Mavs fans. Told you dei. Team's gonna end up with nothing this offseason.

His name was Blackman. Well, tough for Dirk and Mavs fans, but I think you have to respect the way the Mavs have chosen. It could be one of the cleanest rebuilds in recent years, like the Thunder did it. Let's hope the best for my man Swish41.

We need to cut the crap with the Chris Paul and Dwight. We gotta go the OKC way

Does going the OKC way need to have a good track record on the draft?
Sun Jul 08, 2012 3:26 am
Yeah, and we never do. I think until we flat out say we're rebuilding, we're gonna have to keep doing it are way, through trades and FA.

Roddy B(traded), Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels(albeit Undrafted) are the only ones that I can think of that the Mavs have drafted or got through draft deals during the Dirk era. Granted they never really draft that high until this year.
Here's hoping two of the rookies that the Mavs got get out of Carlisle doghouse quickly.

One more reason to like Cuban and the Mavs for me.

Still no new signings. The fuck
Wed Jul 11, 2012 1:02 am
No one can officially sign anyone yet.

It starts at the 11 right? What I mean is I have not seen or read anything about any verbal agreement or Cuban/Donnie is ready to sign someone.

Because Mavs suck.
Thu Jul 12, 2012 6:47 pm
Good two moves by the Mavs after missing out on the big one. They got their starting PG and Center respectively in Collison and Kaman. Adding another SG wouldn't I guess.

Do the Mavs still have cap space?
Sat Jul 14, 2012 1:42 am
According to this
thread they only have 7mil in cap space. Also in that thread was baffled on how Kevin Williams, and Peja that somehow holds a part of the Mavs salary cap?
Sat Jul 14, 2012 3:28 pm
The Mavs got Brand via that amnesty bid thing. Nice addition.
Sat Jul 14, 2012 4:32 pm
Solid move. That frontcourt looks pretty nice with Dirk, Kaman, and Brand.
Sat Jul 14, 2012 4:54 pm
Yup, hopefully Brand will produce well off the bench, we need someone else to put up those Terry 10 + points per game.
Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:03 pm
I think they have more than 7 Million as they amnestied Haywood and haven't signed any rookie yet. Not too sure though. Let's hope they somehow get a deal done for Calderon cause his 10M$ will also be off the books next summer.
I think the Mavs are planning deadline deals. Kaman for only 1 year, Brand's contract expiring. Same with Carter, Beaubois. The only two crippled contracts are Marion's and Dirk's (don't get me wrong, I love Dirk, but I will never understand how even the best franchise players earn around 20M$ per year, it's just too much).
Those are all trade chips. So if the possibility is there, because any team wants to change during the season, the Mavs are flexible. That's great.

Mavs got Mayo. We have our Terry replacement right there

Do the Mavs still have cap space? Resigned West and the they are set for the season

Blame Michael Jordan. If you want to go further blame Larry Bird.

Consider how much money they make for the owners and the league. It's a lot of money but it's not an unreasonable slice of the pie in the grand scheme of things.
Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:34 pm
I got no issues with guys like Dirk, Kobe, Lebron, etc etc getting max money. They're worth it. Fans pay to see them play. That's why I got no issue with Lin's contract. He's a commercially viable commodity. Look what Rubio did for T-wolves. They went from giving tickets away in supermarket promos to now getting pretty good crowds due to the excitement Ricky brought to the franchise.
I do however have an issue when you got players like Lopez getting max money, Green getting big dollars & so on. These guys might make your team better (depending on who is around them & what system they play in) but they're not adding anything off the court as the stars.
NBA Basketball is entertainment so this plays a role, but maybe should play more of a role in my mind.
