Rodriguez Wants Out Of Portland?
Sergio Rodriguez's agent Jose Ortiz has told the Spanish Marca.com that he would like to see his client traded out of Portland.

Ortiz said that Rodriguez has never received the quantity of minutes he believes he deserves. Last season he played behind Jarrett Jack and Steve Blake, and this season he is behind Blake and rookie Jerryd Bayless.

What is it with players who've only been in the league a year or two (or their agents) feeling that they run the show and deserve all these minutes ahead of everyone else? The Blazers are reasonably deep with young talent, there's really not enough minutes to go around. It's hardly a matter of disrespect.

Since when does Rodriguez play behind Bayless?

I actually opened this thread to ask if anyone had any inside information on why Bayless doesn't get any PT.

why Bayless doesn't get any PT.

Probably finding it hard with the transition from college to the pros. A classic developing rookie really.

He's the new Sarunas Jerkevicius.

Or perhaps even Arvydas Macijauskas.

Beat DHoward and Pedo Jerkaloue on the road today
4-3

Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:15 pm

Greg Oden will play Tomorrow Vs Heat on ESPN. 5pm PST

hopefully he dominates since noone on the heat is over 6'9

Wed Nov 12, 2008 4:48 pm

Shame ESPN Australia isn't showing the entire doubleheader, only the Rockets/Suns game in the afternoon. I've been looking forward to seeing Oden play, though I believe there's a Blazers game scheduled to be shown here in December.

Blazers beat Detroit tonight 96-85
Oden 11 Pts 13 Rebs 3 Blks

Blazers number 2 in west at 12-6 despite tough schedule at the start and still continuing

I hope this continues. There arent many reasons you cant root for the blazers

Well, apart from being a dedicated fan of one of the other 29 teams. ;)

I know what you mean though, Blazers fans have reason to be excited. It's going to be tough in a couple of years when they try to sign everyone to extensions and keep the core together but I expect they'll be able to hold onto the players who are most critical to their success. Nice to see Oden coming along, what happened last year is bound to make everyone nervous anytime it's reported that he's done so much as get a bruise but considering how his minutes have been limited his numbers are impressive.

No... It was the basketball club in China. The Shanghai Dragons didn't want Yi to play in Milwaukee because there was less Chinese demographics in that city, and state alone for him to feel comfortable with. That's why they shipped him out to Jersey for Jefferson. So,I guess Yao doesn't have that type of population in Houston, or the former players Wang Zhi-Zhi playing in Miami & Dallas and Mengke Bateer where he was moved around in the NBA plus NBDL? I'm not going to add Sun Yue on this one because he's already in a Asian demographic area in Los Angeles.

Anyways, back to the Blazers. They have a chance to make it in the playoffs, and it's not because of Greg Oden. Although, he's going to be a solid piece if he gets his head together, but it's going to be the fact of the role how the team is playing. Somehow people are forgetting the fact that Joel Pryzbilla is a sleeper center that contributes in games too.

Me too, I loved his reversed alley-oop, so sweet, but as Andrew said, whats with all those rookies and sophomores. They come into the NBA and if they don't play 30 minutes-"I wan't to be traded"- just look at Jermaine O'Neal guys, he didn't play big minutes in his first few years and look at him now.

It irks me because although I have a healthy respect for the best of the best and those who succeed from Day One and find their stories of success inspirational, I've always felt likewise about players like John Starks, Mario Elie and Spud Webb; players who got drafted low or didn't get drafted at all and in some cases forced to play in the minor leagues or overseas before finally making it in the NBA. Michael Redd would be a more recent example, drafted low and stuck behind Ray Allen when he first came into the league, now with an All-Star appearance and Olympic Gold Medal to his name as a star for the Bucks. These guys didn't whine and make a fuss when they were battling for minutes or a spot on their team.

Rodriguez should not complain, for me their team is so balanced now. They've got a very good 1st unit and also a 2nd unit.

Exactly. PT isn't easy to come by on a team where there are several players laying claim to quality minutes. Easy for me to say I guess, but seems to me he should be patient and continue to work hard.

If you also add in the fact that he has good chemistry with fellow Spaniard Rudy Fernandez, the minutes will be there....maybe not 25-30 like he would want, but potentially up to 15-20 if he keeps working....

Do you guys think blazers are most exciting team in the NBA?
yesterday's game vs PHX was the bomb

The Blazers are my favorite team, but the Cavaliers are the most exciting. The Blazers play the slowest game in the league and won't be making the second round.

A home blowout win by one of the better teams in the league over a shorthanded mediocre one is always nice though.
