Absolutely, but given how badly Artest was being owned, you've got to change something. Particularly given that Kobe was the only Laker to show up. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but at least you actually tried.

So Phil Jackson is a shit coach now...

He didn't have his coaching pills again.

As for Kobe on Pierce, I thought that would've been an good idea, since Kobe looked pissed, and anger might've led to good defense from Kobe, or just fouling.

well that would be the worst part of it. put kobe on pierce, kobe picks up a couple of fouls and you dont have him at the end when you need him.
main problem with the lakers now is kobe is running out of gas by the end of the game

Exactly. You don't want Kobe getting cheap, ticky-tack fouls early in the game. Then you're screwed.
Hey, Artest was brought here specifically to deal with Pierce. Time for him to wake up and do his job.

no i dont think so. infact i think artest should just let pierce shoot wide open all night tonight. infact he should run up and punch kobe in the mouth getting himself ejected and injuring kobe. yeah that works for me

You're hallucinating again Sauru. Time to take your medication.

Artest needs to figure out how to body up on Pierce without fouling. He's switching on the pick and rolls and that's killing him. Not to mention he's giving him way too much space to shoot the step back jumper. Body him up damn it, use your bodystrength. If he decides to drive, trust your bigs.
Gasol had a god awful game out there. Fumbles, soft around the rim & just seemed out of synch most of the game. But the guy has been awesome all this time so even the best have off games.
Interesting finals, let's get this shit to game 7.

it took a red hot kobe, more free throws, and a shit load of celtic turn overs to keep the lakers in it. if the celtics come out tonight and minimize the stupid turnovers while keeping the top 4 playing well they are gonna wrap it up tonight

I honestly don't think Artest is taking this series seriously at all. He seems to be in some sort of alternate universe where his defense and shooting has been off the charts good when, in reality, they've been off the charts awful.
It's like he's numb to being a normal human being. I can honestly say everyone who's played organized basketball at a high school and up level can relate to having a teammate like him. There's always a guy who, for whatever reason, thinks they are going great all the time. Shooters break out of slumps by shooting, but I think Artest's offensive funk should be broken on the bench while Luke Walton is out there being the pivot guy for the Triangle.
Seriously, I don't even think the Lakers ran a single play in Game 5. It was always post up Kobe and/or Gasol and throw them the ball. The Lakers thrive when they score efficiently in the offense, not when they isolate every play.
If that's what happens tonight (lack of an organized offense) this game will be over in the third quarter, no doubt about it.

My opinion. Andrew Bynum is the X factor for the Lakers. Kobe is given, but Bynum is amazing when he is 100% healthy. Remember the 2 Games where the Lakers won? Bynum dominates both ends of the court. Blocks, paint production etc.. I can't imagine how much pain Bynum is enduring.. Goodluck Warrior!

Alternatively: it took 11 of the 12 Lakers not showing up for the Celtics to win.

i am waiting for all the "if bynum was healthy" talk again this year. if the damn finals no one is 100% at this point.

Excuses... Bynum or not, Artest or not, there's no reason for the Lakers to be failing if Kobe was truly the best player in the NBA with all those talents surrounding him. I am sick of spoiled Kobe fans all over the internet. Just check out any articles on anything related to the Finals, and you'll see how amazingly they play a blame game to protect Kobe's ass while also the media would focuses majorly on Bryant when wins rather than how great Lakers as a team is. For once, Kobe needs to shut the fuck up and leads his team on his own to victory if he wants to be up there with MJ or other greats. FFS, he arguably has a great teammate at every single position, and it's only his fault if he can't make them better or come up with a way to win with those talents surrounding him.

You guys are talking like the Celtics already won the championship?
Let's LAKERS!!

Lakers got this game.

Celtics might set a record for missed layups and dunks in this one. Really hoping for a comeback, even if it falls short that'll at least make things interesting in the second half.
Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:47 pm
Shannon Brown.

That was ridiculous.

Celtics have been robbed of a couple of shooting fouls - not sure how Rondo didn't get free throws there - but having said that, it's hardly costing them the game. The Lakers are just dominating this one, if there isn't a Game 7 it will be a miracle. Hopefully that one will be competitive.
