Alston isn't that good most of the time either. If SVG put Nelson in, that's not Nelson fault.
Fri Jun 12, 2009 9:42 pm
...that Nelson pass to Gasol...
Fri Jun 12, 2009 9:54 pm
Alston is getting around the same amount of minutes Nelson is getting or in some games even less, and that shouldn't happen. It's not Nelson's fault that he's playing because Stan Van Gundy put him in, but it definitely is his fault when he fails to guard Fisher properly. Kobe's elbow to his mouth is out of the discussion, why wasn't he guarding Fisher in the first place? Fisher was his man to guard, why the hell did he went in to double team Kobe? That was completely unnecessary. Kobe was already backing down on Pietrus so leave them alone and let Kobe take the tough turnaround fadeaway jumper then. Kobe's a great passer off the double team, he's not going to miss out a wide open three point shooter. Nelson went in, Fisher was left wide open, nails the shot, ball game. Dont tell me that that trey wasn't costly for the Magics. The trey that forces overtime is another story because Nelson was on Fisher, eventhough he didn't really contest the shot and push it to the maximum difficulty he was still guarding Fisher. Fisher just happened to make the no-hesitation pull up jumper so big props to him.

bah, all the blame on nelson is wrong. howard needed only to make 1 of 2 at the line and its over. how about hedo going 1-4 at the line at the end. sure it was piss poor defense but they never should have been in the situation. and wtf was the foul call on kobe in ot

sure it was piss poor defense but they never should have been in the situation.
They really should have been able to maintain that 12 point lead.

Blame Ariza he started it all
Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:19 pm
I'm watching the replay and realized that the referees are calling a lot of fouls against the Lakers early in the first half. They did their best but to no avail.

If Alston played like he did in game 3 all the time, I'd agree with you. If SVG can't give his team the right notes how they should play in some defensive or offensive sets, Nelson has nothing to do with it. They had a bunch of opportunities to maintain their lead and win this game, but they didn't use them. So stop blaming Nelson for everything he did or didn't do.
And Sauru is completely right about it.

He got minutes in game 3 and he displayed what he's capable of doing in those minutes. The playing time he's getting in the rest of the games is no where near to what he should get.
If SVG can't give his team the right notes how they should play in some defensive or offensive sets, Nelson has nothing to do with it.
He has everything to do with it. You're playing man-to-man, for christ's sake. That means sticking to your man and not others, especially when the person you're going to guard is already defended by someone else on your team. That's just basketball common sense.
They had a bunch of opportunities to maintain their lead and win this game, but they didn't use them
Absolutely.
So stop blaming Nelson for everything he did or didn't do.
Read my post. I think I've made myself clear that I'm not blaming Nelson for everything. I said he's responsible for
some of the blame, and you cant deny that. Everyone on the Magics squad made mistakes, not just Nelson. He's responsible for his part and other players are responsible for their parts. What's inaccurate about that? I'm not blaming Nelson for the missed freethrows am I? I'm blaming him for failing to play proper defense and that's pretty much it.

let me go get a bucket so i can catch all of your tears in it and bathe myself in them later

The Magic are playing lazy defense in the last couple of possessions in the regulation. Firstly, that Gasol dunk then the Fisher's trey.

Finally, someone who knows his basketball in this forum.
Could anyone explain to me why Reddick always looks sweaty/game ready even though he doesn't play one single minute.

At least wait until the series is over.

Because he's always nervous and that's why he doesn't get to play one single minute?

Seriously speaking, I dont know why he always look sweaty, but it's definitely good to always be game ready, eventhough that's just how he looks like.

Modifly, you got me wrong. Although some of your arguments are questionable (no offense here), I was writing that not only to you, especially that blaming part.

dopeboy23, you haven't explain to me the meaning of "win 2 of the next 3" that you are saying.

I think that Sauru explained it pretty clearly on the previous page.

And I was saying 3 of next 2 after one guy wrote that magic can win in 5 (it was 1-2 series then).

What a shit loss.
I guess Eastern Conference champs is better than nothing.

Oh yeah I'm wrong. What you said is win two games of the next three games.
Sat Jun 13, 2009 1:34 am
it should be 3-1 magic right now, they have blown 2 wins now, not very good if you wanna be the champs. i hope they can at least win the next one so the lakers can celebrate in LA.
Sat Jun 13, 2009 1:39 am
Fisher
Now it's over. 3-1 is quite impossible to come out. Howard's defense on Gasol was good. Gasol is a whinebag. He should hit some weight training(don't blame genetics

) I'm just pissed....
Sat Jun 13, 2009 2:04 am
With this loss the Magic will come out firing next game if . . . they keep their heads up , make this game a motivation and a lesson not just to Stan , Nelson , Howard but to everyone . ( their not gonna win with that amount of To's and that low in FT % )
This is a bold statement but , I'll pick the Magic to win double digits next game .

No harms done.

I apologize if I sounded offensive to you too.
