Um, relying on his teammates got them a 24 point lead? Not relying on teammates got them a 42-40 season last year.

I mean when the game's on the line.

I wouldn't go that far. I think he'll be more assertive offensively and believe he should pick his spots as far as taking over the game is concerned but not to the extent where he's trying to do it all himself from start to finish. If it's a close game down the stretch in Game 5, I don't expect Kobe to be particularly passive.

So basically kobe should stop doing what got him to the number 1 seed and the finals in the first place?

Um no.
Second of all, here's the point. Yes, Kobe should rely on his teammates. But only at the begining and middle of the game. See, they were hittin their shots when they were up 20. But when the game was on the line, they folded. In the second half Farmar, Vujacic, and Walton completley folded. Why? Because they had pressure on those shots. When its go time, and you think that you shouldnt dont give the ball to the best player on the planet, you're an effin retarded.

Hihi, nice video there Drex. Who wouldn't be disappointed after blowing out a big lead?

Sat Jun 14, 2008 10:20 am

That was the play where Allen got a clear path to the basket.

I still can't fathom what happened. I just...don't get it.

But okay, it's not over...till it's over. :)

no, he was crying because he just let Ray Allen waltz by him for the game (& possibly series) clinching basket....it looked like Sasha tried to go for steal, didn't move his feet & got out of position, & it was all over....

it was a harder cover than i think people realize, any foul at all sends possibly the best free throw shooter in the league(one of them anyway) to the line. granted he did a terrible job but i also think he expected a little help when he got by him

definitely. it was a mental collapse by vujacic. his footstep was bit too slow and may have thought back up defense was behind him. besides, ray did an awesome job penetrating hard. he distracted the whole laker team with his driving all night long and deserved that last play.

now i am starting to wonder, who will win the finals mvp if the celtics wins the series. if lakers pulls an upset, it'll be kobe w/o doubt, but i am not too sure about the celtics on who deserves the most.

i forget if the allen layup was off of a timeout or a missed shot. if it was off a timeout it boggles my mind how you have a subpar defender guarding one of the big three in an important posession at the end of a game. personally i'd have pau, odom, ariza, kobe, and fish on D.

anyways, they were out of fouls so vujacic's slapping defense would not work. he got frozen and was expecting help which he did not get. even jr smith would've put up a better fight than that.

Sat Jun 14, 2008 7:32 pm

The Celtic comeback was a Classic!!
That Ray Allen lay up was a classic!! (unless of course the Lakers upset them)

It kinda reminds me of Magic driving the lane shooting the hook shot against the celtics or jordan's change of hands against the Lakers in 1991

Yep I agree with Qballer the lakers should have the others defend Allen or at least Gasol should have been one step faster on help D

Also at least the officiating was not bad anymore!!

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:06 am

What the fuck. Simply what the fuck.
Now Kobe really has to step it up. Time to turn into Jordan perhaps?

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:12 am

Kobe is not Jordan. Please.

Shame that I wasn't able to see yesterday's game.

EDIT:

Freaking gave me goosebumps, especially when Doc told KG: "Never stop believing."

i think they are showing the entire game tonight on ESPN classic, if you want to see it that is

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:52 am

if it was jordan in that game instead of kobe, it would have been a win for the lakers..... the lakers probably would have won the series in 5.....

Sun Jun 15, 2008 3:50 am

Unbelievable comeback by the C's.
I was planning not to attend class just to watch the game but after the first half I changed my mind and went for a shower. After finishing up and seeing the start of the fourth quarter, damn I missed "The Comeback". Still had to go to class because I was already dressed up and all.

I'm more interested on who among the bench players will show their A-game for the next games. P.J. Brown, Powe, Posey, and House for the Celtics, Vujabitch, Farmar, Ariza, and even a little bit of Walton for the Lakers.

Vujabitch just replaced Giflopbili on my hated player list.
Fucking actor, he tried to lock Ray Allen's leg when he was on the floor and when the ref blew the whistle he acted like he was the one being abused by Allen. Clearly captured it thanks to ABC's slow-mo.

To Laker fans, don't put too much faith in Bynum for your championship chances next year. I only see him as the next Emeka Okafor at best if he continues being injured for long stretches like he did this season.

I hate the "Showtime is (coming) back" comments from the media. Face it, Showtime is never coming back even if Chris Paul played for the Lakers (but if he got together with Dwight Howard, maybe).

I also watched games 3 and 4 covered by the local commentators and god they're really riding Kobe's dick. Everytime Kobe makes an assist or a shot they gush how good of a teammate/player he is. It's just a pass to an open teammate for cripes sake!

lamrock. wrote:Is it just me, or is Vladimir Radmanovic the new Fatoine Walker? I don't have any stats to back myself up, but every time I see him on the court, he drags the team down with him with a bunch of missed threes

At least Fatoine has a ring. :proud:

Bill Simmons wrote:By the way, wouldn't Lakers games be more fun if Gasol dressed like a bullfighter for the pregame intros, then waved a red cape for the other starters as they ran by him?

That would be cool.

Who would have thought that the Celtics would be where they are now one year ago... Props to them (Y)

I'm especially happy for Paul Pierce, I want him to get a ring more than any other Celtic out there. It is not over yet but chances are not too good for the Lakers.

If the Celtics win the championship, who do you think will get Finals MVP? It seems like a tough choice to me, but I'm going for Pierce.

Sun Jun 15, 2008 6:45 am

Probably Pierce, but I would prefer if Allen would be

Sun Jun 15, 2008 7:00 am

right now i am thinking its a toss up between pierce and allen, personally right now i gotta give ray the nod, the man has really come through for us and if he had any help at all in game 2 the finals would be over. still if pierce gets it he also deserves it and i would love to see him win it as i still consider him the face of the celtics, no matter how attention is given to garnett

the kobe/jordan talk needed to end years ago, its just stupid. he is not even the second best player ever so how can he top the man himself? great one on one player, amazing infact, but he aint the winner that many before him have been

question now is, do the celtics celebrate on the lakers court or are we coming home to do it

Sun Jun 15, 2008 8:24 am

don't get ahead of yourselves, the series is not over....

if the Celtics go on to win, as they should, I think the MVP will be whoever plays better in the clinching game out of Pierce & Ray Allen....at the moment they are neck & neck....I'd put Pierce slightly ahead as he was team's best player in 2 out of 3 wins....& he was the guy that saved them at end of game 2 by taking the ball to the hoop & sealing it....

as for Ray Allen not being an easy guard, I do agree with that Sauru....if you touch him, it's a foul....although given it's near end of game, refs are more unlikely to make the call....but it's the fact it looks like he went for cheap option to poke ball free rather than moving his feet & staying in front of Allen....I will admit that Gasol's closeout should've been better....the team defence wasn't that good....where was Trevor Ariza when the Lakers needed him....

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:32 pm

What do you mean if you touch Allen it's a foul? He doesn't get those touch fouls that alot of other players get.

As for MVP, you're right, it's too early to talk about that as the series isn't over. If it was though, do you think Pierces horrible game 3 would have hurt his chances? Obviously I don't think it hurt him (oh dear, I'm arguing with the strawman again! BAD MATTHEW!), but his game 1 heroics will probably be counted towards him getting it. Ray Allen has been playing brilliantly. Maybe they'll have co finals mvp for the first time?

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:35 pm

Maybe Kobe for MVP Finals even if they lose. Like Jerry West if I'm not mistaken.

Sun Jun 15, 2008 1:37 pm

Eddie House has a better chance then Kobe for the mvp right now..
