Word... Austin Carr's deliverance of his catch phrases is annoying and cringe-worthy... for me it's either him or that "Bingo" guy in LA...

I've obviously watched a lot of Ralph Lawler so I've gotten used to it and it's actually kinda funny. His partner sucks though.

Uh, that's Ibaka being the dirty player that he is. He's the one that continues to attack Blake Griffin by hitting him in the balls, etc.

Yeap, Ibaka is a dirty player. I remember last year when he didn't got suspended for his below-the-belt hit on Griffin. :shake:

It is only one game, and it's easy to overemphasise its importance given that they were playing the team with the best record in the league, but it is interesting to see how the team performed without Kobe around to dominate the ball. It probably won't matter, in the long run. I don't think Kobe is going to change his playing style or take a step back so that his teammates can help shoulder the load, so once he's back, it'll probably be the same old story.

Opponents have outscored the Lakers by 13.3 points per 100 possessions with Bryant on the floor, per NBA.com. The Lakers have flipped that figure almost on its head when Kobe sits, destroying teams by about 11 points per 100 possessions

As usual, Lakers guard Nick Young, who scored 15 points, was the most outspoken.

“Some guys just played like ‘Django Unchained' -- they were free tonight,” he said.

And what would Young tell Bryant?

“Pretty much going to have to tell Kobe to pass me the ball, pass us the ball,” Young said. “Tell him to take the backseat for a little bit. He can be ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ and I can be Miss Daisy and drive.

oh my god

Anderson Varejao suffered a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The diagnosis came with an MRI on his left ankle on Wednesday morning.

Oh no. :facepalm2:

Great games on Christmas night:

LeBron James plays against Wade. Too bad Bosh is out but Varejao isn't there either for the Cavs. Showdown between Wade and LBJ. They had great duels in the past and I think this will be a good one.

Thunder versus Spurs also will be a good one. Too bad Kawhi isn't healthy but the Spurs are still very capable. Team ball vs Hero ball?

Me too.

Spree#8 on September 10th wrote:I also consider healthy Bulls stronger than the Cavs, unless Cleveland somehow gets a quality and reliable rim protector. The three good defensive players on their roster either carry a huge load offensively and will likely coast on defense (James), will get injured sooner or later (Varejao) or are far past their prime and will be LeBron's backup (Marion). The rest of their rotation ranges from poor to horrific on defense. I wouldn't bet a penny on them even winning the East, let alone the championship.

Pretty easy to call, really. Even if you extrapolate his games played in 11/12 to an 82-game season, that would still give him an average of about 35.5 games played per season starting from 2010/11 and including the current season.

If Varejao is all you have at center, then you have nothing at center. Unfortunately, this guy simply cannot be trusted to stay healthy.

Another thing I called is that even with him playing the Cavs have a below average defense - 21st in the league right now. I suppose it will only get worse without arguably their best defensive player. So my points stand: until they can get some rim protection going, I'm not taking Cleveland seriously at all in terms of title chances.

Yeah, that looked like it could be quite nasty, though he was able to walk off under his own power. Remains to be seen what kind of injury he sustained there.
