Agreeing with koberox though. Fear of lockout was at its peak for players to not to sign at that time imo.

Well the Knicks signed Jason Kidd... Good locker room presence and a better back up PG then Baron Davis, Toney Douglas, or Mike Bibby. Let's see what happens with LIn.

Looks like the Knicks have just landed Kidd: http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/8133070/source-jason-kidd-agrees-deal-new-york-knicks

Kidd's a good pickup for them. He's still solid and can give them some good minutes while mentoring Lin, who still has great potential and isn't too bad a player right now. It doesn't make them an elite team and an immediate championship contender or anything, but a good move nevertheless.

Lin to the Rockets. Will the Knicks match it? Nearly 30 million dollars for 3 years.

They'll almost definitely match.

Knicks will match Lin’s deal with Rockets
I thought the Rockets would be more aggressive after negotiation not going right with dragic, and whether it is to recover loss of Yao or to screw over the Knicks.

This is good news though for the Knicks.

No surprise there. Can't remember who Tweeted it (possibly Adrian Wojnarowski), but supposedly the Rockets only did it to screw the Knicks with the "poison pill" third year of the deal.

How much can the Knicks offer? The Heat only have vet min to offer but probably a starting position. The Knicks however had him before and made him a one of the marquee players in the league. This is going to be interesting.

Seems it's official.

Free-agent center Marcus Camby has agreed to join the New York Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Rockets will receive guard Toney Douglas, forward Josh Harrellson, center Jerome Jordan, second-round picks in 2014 and '15 and cash used to pay Douglas' salary from the Knicks. Camby will get a three-year, $13.2 million contract that contains a partial guarantee in the third season, sources said.

I'd say it's a fair price for Camby, a decent contract and nothing they can't afford to give up in those three players and a couple of second rounders.

I think it's ridiculous to overpay for Lin, but I guess the front office has no choice. No way in hell should they match the Fields contract.

I still think Lin is worth the gamble. Some folks got carried away when he had that impressive string of games but he appears to have legitimate talent.

But then...

What seemed a certainty days ago — that the New York Knicks would match any offer sheet for restricted free-agent guard Jeremy Lin from the Houston Rockets — became quite unclear Saturday night, after the Knicks agreed to terms with free-agent guard Raymond Felton in a sign-and-trade deal with Portland. The Knicks also received forward/center Kurt Thomas from the Blazers for a second tour of duty in New York. In exchange, the Knicks sent forward Jared Jeffries and center Dan Gadzuric to Portland.

What is this, a reunion tour?

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Knicks work hard on getting eliminated in the first round again. Why the hell Felton?!? Well seems like Kidd will not be mentoring Lin next season...

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
Melo on #Knicks Lin saga: "It's not up to me. It's up to the organization to say that they want to match that ridiculous contract."

And:
Jason Kidd, who just signed with the New York Knicks, was arrested on Sunday morning on an alleged drunken driving charge, according to Southampton Town police.

Details are still emerging, but Southampton Town police confirmed that the basketball star was arrested during the midnight shift.

Kidd, 39, was arraigned on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday morning in Southampton Town Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.

Knicks to likely pass on Jeremy Lin after acquiring Raymond Felton

Overpaying for Lin seems much better in comparison. Mind you...

"He loves the New York fans," Diepenbrock said. "To have the experience that he had for the two months and for that to be over with, that’s quite a shock to the system. I think he really believed the Knicks would match whatever offer he got."

If he was serious about staying in New York, he probably should've just agreed to terms with them to begin with.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:24 pm

can't blame his agent for trying to squeeze more money out of it for him, especially knowing the Knicks would match the midlevel price he was commanding

Would you give up $10+ million?

Especially when the Knicks told you to go get the best deal you could get because they'd match?

Maybe Knicks were thinking the same as I do: He's not worth that much and will soon be surpassed by any other phenomenon...
