Well, a nice bounceback win after the disaster in Indy. Keeping my fingers crossed for a split against the Bulls.

Memo to Brain-Dead Dolan: keep Mike Woodson as Knick coach. I don't want John Calipari anywhere NEAR MSG. Woodson is doing a good job. The team is responding nicely and playing solid defense. Why ruin it by bringing in a college coach? Besides, Calipari's act will wear thin with pro players. You think they'll put up with his antics?

Great Shot Melo! Damn you ruined my boy D. Rose's comeback!

Anthony was clutch, but I have to give props to Tyson Chandler and Shump. The things they did don't show up on stats pages, but they were huge for the Knicks.

Not the result I would've liked to have seen, but hats off to Melo for the big shot.

Big win over the Bucks, though they looked a bit sloppy at times and let a large lead slip away. They got the job done in crunch time though, while the Bucks stumbled and missed out on securing the tiebreaker should it come down to that.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Ya right. The Bucks missed a golden opportunity to turn the tides around. Could have put pressure in New York to win games. But now, it's do or die time for the Bucks. But the probability to be in the playoffs is still beyond 0% .. so there is still hope.

The Knicks aren't guaranteed a playoff spot, not with their tough schedule. Miami, then Boston twice - yikes. The lack of a point guard is killing them, but you have to love the effort and the feistiness.

No guarantee, but last night's win was huge and I think Philly has a better chance of missing out at this point (despite Evan Turner getting sent to the bench)

Strangely, this Knicks team played quite well when it seemed their roster were depleted. I guess the roles became clearer for the players making things easier for each other. Next three against, Miami and Boston(x2) surely will be the testing point for the Knicks though. Boston has been hot since the All-Star break so nothing will be easy.

I got tickets to the Knicks and Celtics game at the garden on Tuesday, I must say I'm so excited to go, since this is the first game I go to that has meaning and it will most likely be a playoff atmosphere at MSG. Plus I get to see some of what they have remodeled

I think they will fine against the Celtics. Trust me.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Really? The Celtics, who just beat the Heat in Miami? The same Celtics that have won 11 of their last 14 and seem to have found the energy for one last hurrah?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not counting the Knicks out. But the Celtics deserve a little more credit than that.

I trust him. He's from Russia.

Man, I'm loving this Shumpert kid. He is all effort. If he can develop a consistent 'J', look out!

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I went to a hell of a game on Tuesday against the Celtics.. MSG was going nuts whenever anyone shot a 3. Also got to see Melo's triple double. I'm a happy fan. :). As for now the Knicks magic number is 2, I'll be a bit more relaxed once the Knicks clinch a playoff spot but until then nothing is guaranteed. Looks like we'll be stuck playing Miami in the first round, which would make a hell of a series.

yeah me too. love his tenacity on D

i was kind of hoping the knicks would keep losing so they play the bulls in the first round. gives me someone to root against because i like the heat too. plus i think they have a better chance of advancing vs the bulls than the heat

This Knicks team is puzzling one to me. This season, the Knicks were just better with the roster depleted.

U lucky bastard.

Reminds me of my first time when the Grizzlies hosted the Clippers led by Odom. We lost and stadium was half empty but still had a blast. I paid 20 bucks to the game but sat at 200 dollar one. Second game was against the Mavericks led by young Dirk. Boy, my sore feelings on Dirk still remains today.

I hate to say but the Knicks might need to let Amar'e go. He isn't scoring and is hurting Melo's game. He doesn't do much good if he isn't scoring because he doesn't rebound or defend very well. They have Tyson Chandler so it isn't like they really need him anymore.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Amare definitely looked out of sync yesterday(but so were entire team). The rumour might be true that he lost hop. But in all fairness, Amare was in MVP discussion just last year until Melo's arrival.

Knicks can forget about the 6th seed.

They signed center Dan Gadzuric(insurance for Jared Jeffries) and waived Bill Walker.

How would you move him, though? He's recovering from a back injury, he's not playing his best basketball and he has a huge contract that runs a few more years. His trade value isn't exactly at its highest right now.

The Knicks will never be able to trade Amare.

With Amar'e it was 'buyer beware'. Knicks knew this going in. Only reason he came here was the ridiculous contract NY gave him. Phoenix wasn't willing to do that. They had concerns about his health.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Apr 23, 2012 1:32 am

To be fair, he's played 82 and 78 games the last couple of years and two thirds of this abbreviated season, more games than Derrick Rose has played this year in fact. This is a different injury to the ones he's had before and it comes in a season where a lot of players have been hobbled, even notably durable players like Dwight Howard. Amar'e's unlikely to be at his best this season but next year, with Lin back, a proper training camp under someone that isn't Mike D'Antoni (presumably Mike Woodson) and an offseason to rest and seek treatment, the Knicks aren't in too bad a shape. In the meantime they'll make a Playoff appearance and perhaps even take a game or two. It could be worse.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Mon Apr 23, 2012 6:03 am

There's a bit of a small consensus that if Amare injuries his knees again then his career is over.

It's not the size of his contract alone that makes him untradeable, it's the fact it's not insured. If his career ends tomorrow whatever team he's on is on the hook to pay out the $65 million in full.

The Suns were willing to take the risk at $70-80 million, only the Knicks came in and immediately dropped $100 million. They were the only two teams entirely willing to sign Amare uninsured.
