Re: The Orlando Magic Thread

i won't believe that until he announce he will stay :) its really hard for the Magic to acquire another player next to Howard

Looks like the Magic want to keep Howard to the end of the season.

Do you think its a good choice?

Having a last shot with Dwight Howard seem to be the only alternative at the moment...

Seems like no team is willing to take the risk of trading for Howard...

He doesn't want to be in New Jersey and just watch the Magic in the playoffs.. but sure he will walk away and sign with the Nets.. Any truth on the rumor for J Rich for Beasley trade?

Howard tells front office to let him stay for this season. Will the Magic roll the dice and gamble to let him stay?

The J-Rich is still on going... it is just that what else would the Magic will add like maybe a future pick and Daniel Orton, while Minnesota would likely give a 2nd rounder packaged together with Beasley.

A straight swap would never make sense at all due to J-Rich's long term contract

Otis Smith should ask Howard if he want to stay multiple years in Orlando, not just this season (only because they had good results agains Bulls & Heat), because there is still the possibility that Howard take his talents to Brooklyn (or Mavs) in the offseason (if the Magic is eliminated before they reach the Finals or win the Championship), and that would be the best move for Howard (he goes to the place he wants, without hurting the other team in a trade). If he isn´t sure to stay multiple years, TRADE HIM!, because as I said this "decision" to stay this season with the Magic is just they had good results, if the team weren't in the place that they're now, Howard still would want to be trade.

Latest is that he is willing to take his 1 year option and remain throught 12/13.

This would give the Magic a chance for better deals to improve the roster next year, when they have more expireing contracts to trade- then now.

If this is true this is better than nothing or a fast trade, even if we have the same sh.. again next year.

I hope its still possible to sign Deron Williams this offseason

At this point, you're still going to have to take cents on the dollar because he's made it clear he's not interested in signing an extension just anywhere. Apart from the Nets and perhaps a couple of other teams, anyone trading for him is taking a big risk on giving up valuable pieces for someone who's going to walk out on them instead.

As such, keep him through the rest of the season, especially if there's a chance that he doesn't opt out. And even if he does, you might be able to work a sign-and-trade deal that's a bit fairer than what's on offer right now.

And now Howard says that he will be in Orlando one more season (he'll sign the ETO waiver)

yes and it looks official

Re: The Orlando Magic Thread

I guess that means the issue is hanging over the team for another season, though it does give the Magic a little more time to try to "roll the dice" and talk about a longer extension beyond the final year that he's opting into. In the short term though, with the Magic in third place in the East and not playing too shabbily all things considered, it's good news. It puts a big distraction on the backburner and helps them focus on the present. They've bought themselves a little more time, if nothing else.

I hope the Magic fans are happy... for now. Anxious moments will start again next season.
Orlando should go for good players who have expiring contracts(Beasley, Nash) NOT Josh SMith, in that way they could free-up some cap to sign Deron Williams.

I say TRADE Glen Davis and Turkoglu already for a 2nd rounder, I want to see Harper or Clark PLAY :D

A little from column A and a little from column B.

After what Stan said about Dwight, that franchise is in an even bigger hole then before. They'll be a total lack of chemistry after what Stan revealed to the media, it should of stayed private and dealt with as such.

Dwight's a drama queen, Stan's a drama queen, no wonder they don't get along.

Re: The Orlando Magic Thread

so that's how they got Dwight to opt in...
