Getting Howard would be.. So freaking awesome I cannot describe it.

According to the NY Post the other player in the Tyson Chandler sign-and-trade would be Andy Rautins, a second year player from Syracuse.

Is he any good? They should have at least given a try on getting Landry Fields

Andy Rautins will probably be waived. He's not very good. I wish Dallas could have gotten the kind of return in a sign-and-trade like what Boston got out of the Glen Davis sign-and-trade. The Celtics got BRANDON BASS.

Dallas has a lot of SGs now: Terry, VC, Brewer, Roddy, DoJo, Rudy, and now Rautins, not to mention they have rights to Nick Calathes, Petteri Koponen, Shan Foster, and Renaldas Seibutis, all shooting guards, if they ever come over. Consider JJ Barea and Deshawn Stevenson gone.

Brewer will most likely play SF, Calathes can play the 1, and I'm pretty sure they want to continue the Roddy at PG experiment. I fully expect Rautins to be sent to the D-League.

Even with Brewer and Roddy at other positions, that's a crazy number of productive SGs on one roster. I say take some of these guys, add Shawn Marion, Brendan Haywood, and some picks and make a run at a superstar.

Vince Carter would be a solid acquisition for the Mavericks if that ends up happening. He doesn't bring any guarantees in terms of their chances to repeat but offensively speaking he's an upgrade on most of their options at shooting guard. At this point though, replacing Chandler is the key.

I started an Association and basically used trade to send Rudy to the Bucks for Illysova, and sent D-Jones to the D-Leauge, and I also have Brewer playing the SF. I also agree with Andrew, having VC owuld be just awesome, but we've got fix the hole at the 5 aswell.

Lamar Odom has a Mav. Interesting.

People say the Mavs are helping the Lakers, when in reality, No Dwight on Nets= Less chance of D-Will staying

But having Howard + Kobe duo would be scary shit.

Assuming they were to get Howard, it depends what they have to give up for him. At this point I'm not sure they'll have the depth to come out of the West if they end up making a trade for Howard.

My thoughts exactly. The Lakers really buried themselves by trading LO. There's no way Orlando accepts a trade for anything less than Gasol + Bynum. Then if things don't work out, there's always that chance that Dwight just bolts in the offseason to hang with CP3, wherever he ends up. Because with LO gone, I think we can rule out a D12 + CP3 + Kobe trio in LA.

If they're intent on moving Turkoglu's contract in the Howard deal then Gasol is going to have to be involved. That'd still leave the Lakers with a great duo and one of the better teams in the West, but still without the depth to get by the other contenders in the conference.

Delonte West has agreed on a one-year deal with the Mavs.

article

Although I doubt that we can repeat with what we have right now, I like it. Mavs are doing good moves and hopefully can be a player on the FA market 2k12.

Certainly. Cuban did a nice job bringing in some interesting pieces.

With Chandler gone, he took offensive efficiency and defensive presence under paint with him. Despite the Mavericks not having fully recovered in that area with Odom, he's another lengthy ball handler and a better shot creator than Chandler. With VC, it's another interesting piece that's added, perhaps an upgrade from what was available at SG/SF last season. This surely is going to be an interesting transform and experiment. I'd say the Mavericks did fine this offseason.

Supposedly Otis Smith is listening to offers from everyone for Howard so if the Mavs are still in the running, the loss of Chandler could be forgotten very quickly.

But I am not too sure what the Magic could get from Dallas ... I mean, Marion, Odom, Terry, Beaubois, Haywood, Brewer, maybe some late 1st rounders or 2nd rounders, some cash, basically that is what the Mavs can offer. I don't see anybody the Magic would really want except maybe Beaubois and Terry's expiring contract.

Apart from that ... Dwight and Dirk .. sounds scary. Same goes for Dwight and Kidd.

Depending on what other teams are willing and able to give up, a couple of those players may be enough. Dallas is reportedly one of his preferred destinations, for whatever it's worth.

Mavs roster is looking pretty good now. I love that they got rid of Fernandez, he's always been a difficult character and hasn't proven himself in the NBA.

Still missing a backup C, but maybe Mahinmi will get his chance. I would like to know where Stevenson is heading? He could be important now with Fernandez and Brewer gone and played great during that Playoff run.

Sounds like they'll be running with Vince Carter and Delonte West at shooting guard.

Other than their frontcourt, Mavs still pretty deep. They will probably use Odom more as a point forward and off the bench along with Terry and Beaubois as scorers or bringing in Delonte for either one if they wish to play more D. If they get back Stevenson even deeper options for them in the backcourt.

Should have keep Brewer though. Could have at least given him time.

Now if Beaubois didn't do shit this season. I would be pissed.
