We played well all tournament. I'm pretty gutted but it's good that this tourney is pretty competitive.

Makes me wonder where we would be if we had wins against Serbia and especially Argentina. Who knows!

If they had of beaten Argentina, say they finish 2nd instead of 3rd, they face Croatia. Frankly, the way they played Croatia would've beaten them comfortably too, just like they did at the Olympics.
I suppose so. Outside shooting teams seem to hurt the Aussies. Maybe cause we don't get out to the shooters in our zone.
Ah well, another chance gone. I was just pissed off because a 31 point loss or whatever it was was not a true reflection on the Australian team.

I thought when Andersen - Maric - Nielsen dont play well , Australia has no chance to win against Slovenia .

Slovenians started the game really well and had confidence in the outside shot... everything went well for them. Ah well...
I will need to support team usa now. Go Odom!

To quote Homer Simpson, "USA! USA!"

I'm gonnna support Slovenia now. DRAGIC!

I'm going to do the same thing I do in any sporting event my team has been eliminated from, and not give a shit until the final, if even then.
Mon Sep 06, 2010 11:54 pm
If we defeat Slovenia, I will say OK if we can't take any medal.

Damn, a brilliant game by our boys. And goddamn, I hope they beat Turkey, steamrolling or not. They kicked us out at the last Worlds in Top 16. Time for some payback!

If this was the NBA and Australia were the Lakers then I would take the same position. Unfortunately it isn't.

What's the difference?

Supporting another country is more patriotic than not supporting another country?

If the opposing county is the one who eliminated you, yes.

Total domination for USA, in the end it looked like Steph, Gordon and Granger tried to get to 20 threes. Winner of New Zealand-Russia up next, I can sense 7-0 a start.

We defeated 3 teams defeat us in Euro 2009 , France - Russia and Greece . I hope we will defeat the 4th team Slovenia too..

Huh? Sit said he
wouldn't be supporting another country now that Australia's been knocked out, in contrast to the NBA where he said he'd take an interest in another team in the event that the Lakers were eliminated. You asked what the difference was, I said patriotism.

No Andrew, you read it wrong! I said if it were the Lakers and the NBA, I would have stopped following the competition if the Lakers were eliminated.
Koberulz, I am just a bigger Lakers/NBA fan than the Boomers and their international forays.
I bleed purple and gold. I can't say the same for the Boomers.
I enjoy watching international basketball and I go for Australia because I am patriotic. However, I am not patriotic to the point where I'd stop watching/following. There's still so much good ball left that I am not throwing away just because my country was knocked out. I am watching for the love of the game. I can still watch the rest of the FIBA action - I may not be enjoying it as much as I would if Australia was in the latter stages - but I am still enjoying it.
In comparison, if it was the NBA Finals and the Lakers weren't in it, I could still watch it but I know I sure would not enjoy it and would be pretty damn bitter about it. Thus leading me to switch off the TV!

Seems I did misread that, sorry guys. Wasted the Sam the Eagle reference on it, too.

Ah, not really. We're all 'true blue aussies' in one sense or another.

Now we know koberulz is fully patriotic mate.

It might sound silly but for the World Cup, I couldn't watch games after the group stage once Socceroos were knocked out. But I attribute that to not being as big a lover of football as basketball and once my team was knocked out, I didn't have that vested interested to keep watching. I was following but had no interest in sitting down and watching...

I'll watch any Team USA games, if they're shown.
