nah, it ain't the first time they've done it this year....I've noticed a couple of times, a Thursday game gets the boot....but I understand why they did it, FA Cup semi-final was on....makes perfect sense....it does suck for us suckers who fork out over $70 per month to see our 2 games a week & don't even get that during the playoffs (N)

Hear hear.

It doesnt bother me that much during the regular season, but come on! PLAYOFFS!!

Thu May 11, 2006 10:37 pm

well they did add a game ofr next wednesday.....given games results today cant say im too disappointed.

Thu May 11, 2006 10:39 pm

Which games are scheduled for that date? Hopefully some Suns/Clippers, or Pistons/Cavs. I cannot stand watching the Spurs though.

Thu May 11, 2006 10:53 pm

is there a game on this Sunday as I don't think anything is scheduled for Saturday due to no games being played that day?!? if not, that's essentially like 2 games for the week cancelled (N)

Fri May 12, 2006 12:31 pm

there is a game tomorrow.....Suns-Clipps......and next wednesday appears to be Heat-Nets.

Fri May 12, 2006 2:25 pm

they've added another game for this sunday...options are Det-Cle or Dal-SAS....Det-Cle is the schedule on ESPN....and for tomorrow, my Foxtel guide shows game starting 8:30 which means it'll be Nets-Heat (Y)

Yay :P

Fri May 12, 2006 9:42 pm

Now that you mention it I do recall it happening a couple of times before but usually not so close to the date. Still, at least they've got Mavericks/Spurs on Sunday as a tradeoff. As Matt said, with the score in Clippers/Suns Game 2 it's not as disappointing as it could have been for the impartial viewer.

Awesome, the dallas/spurs series looks like it might be the best of the playoffs, even better than the finals.

interesting since the ESPN in america has the Cle-Det game. Either way i don't mind, but this is already our 2nd Spurs game and i'm hoping we don't get them in the WCF again :x

i don't know if this means anything but TNT is advertising itself as the home of the WCF.

Sat May 13, 2006 5:02 pm

Last year ESPN was advertising themselves as the home of the WCF so perhaps they (or more likely ABC, and thus ESPN Australia) will be doing the ECF this year.

Sat May 13, 2006 5:21 pm

Yea guys Im pretty sure we have ECF this year

Because on TNT they were saying "The official home of the WCF"

Wed May 17, 2006 9:58 pm

we get Game 6 of Pistons - Cavs and on Wednesday they have Game 1 of CF scheduled......i'm guessing it's east because of the early start time, 8:30am for us West people. :P

Wed May 17, 2006 10:00 pm

Damn it! Why didn't anyone tell me the PHX vs LAC game was going to be replayed tonight :( It just finished.

Works for me. :)

that game went for 3hrs 20mins i think....i take it the replay was chopped up so that the game wouldnt run over the next program

I missed uni to stay and finish the game :P So in hindsight, it's a great thing we didn't get last thursday game but instead today. The last few games ESPN has shown have been down to the wire.

Thu May 18, 2006 9:57 pm

The fact they're Playoff games obviously helps but ESPN Australia's selections have panned out pretty well so far without the doubling up on series they had last year. Three or four games a week would be even better but the ones we have been getting have been good games with a few great ones the last couple of weeks. So often during the regular season we'd get a so-so game while another game the same day had a 50 point performance or furious finish and a game winner.

Guess we've just been lucky so far in the postseason.

Fri May 19, 2006 6:56 pm

spurs need to find a spark from Manu and parker. to win the game 6

Sun May 21, 2006 9:42 pm

espn australia pacific coverage is a whole lot of bullcrap. why they hell cant they play atleast one game a day??? who the hell wants to watch poker re runs or some stupid fishing shows

Sun May 21, 2006 9:58 pm

They can only show the games they have the rights to broadcast. They do seem to invest in programming that surely doesn't have huge audiences here in Australia or New Zealand but showing a game a day unfortunately just isn't feasible. It would be great if Fox Sports or another pay TV sports channel would pick up NBA games as well to add some more variety and wider coverage but that doesn't look too likely. :(

Sun May 21, 2006 10:49 pm

fox sports used to have the nba. was that in addition to espn then, and what happened with that?

Mon May 22, 2006 1:22 pm

Do we get Suns/Clips game 7 tomorrow?

Mon May 22, 2006 2:09 pm

Don't think so

I saw we get a game on Wednesday which pretty much confirms we will probably get the ECF this year.
